ozanzac 0 Posted March 20, 2004 lol! English is a tricky language. I think Iraqi air unit textures might look more representative of the latest Gulf War if they looked like they were gathering 11 years worth of dust! Just a question, but are you thinking of modelling that experimental, pilotless Mig-29 based aircraft that Iraq developed for chem warfare? I think I remember catching a glimpse of it in some black and white, IR, intel video a while ago.

Not something i have been thinking of but i am sure that would be a good addition to the mod when we come round to the Iraqi air force.
Scorpio 0 Posted March 20, 2004 If I was in the coalition forces in the Iraq war and saw a sign saying "Welcome" then I'd feel very suspicious indeed... considering the nation language is slang Arabic.

bmgarcangel 0 Posted March 21, 2004 DO you really think that the Iraqi Airforce would be operating one of those??
ozanzac 0 Posted March 21, 2004 DO you really think that the Iraqi Airforce would be operating one of those?? Â Actually, Iraq did not have any A-50 aircraft at all. They did however attempt to convert a small number of Il-76's into AWACS aircraft. One design was a failure, the other, called the Adnan, produced at least three functional Adnan's. One was destroyed in the first Gulf War, one was still beleived to be in Iraqi hands during the second Gulf War, and the thirds whereabouts was unknown. Possibly defecting to Iran as with so many other Iraqi aircraft during the first Gulf War.

Yup... its a converted (some in the factory, some in re-fits) Il-76 Candid State the obvious! An aircraft is just the shell of any AWACS system. The content that makes the difference is the systems, which is the difference between the Iraqi Il-76 based AWACS aircraft and the Russian/Soviet Il-76 based aircraft. The A-50 AWACS system was purposely designed, with the backing of the soviet war machine. The Iraqi attempt was home grown. They could have simply adapted a few of their dozens of Il-76's to A-50 standards, using Russian equipment. Instead they chose to develop their own system (From memory, one of the designs was using an existing Radar system that was not intended for the AWACS role, possibly from old Mirage aircraft.) rather than following the beaten track. A truly commendable technical achievement. Nice progress with the mod by the way.

miles teg 1 Posted April 12, 2004 Awesome! I can't wait! I keeping checking the forum everyday hoping to see them. They are by far the best Middle East soldiers I've seen so far. Just curious, but how do you feel about mission makers making "current event" missions for example a mission simulating the seige of Fellujah. I'm just curious cuz I was working on one for myself, but I'm not sure if it should be something to release. Perhaps maybe two missions... one from the view of the Iraqi militia and one from the view of a US Marine. I was thinking of using your upcoming addon as part of the Iraqi Civil Defense force fighting alongside the US Marines against militant forces in Fellujah. There would also be alot of Iraqi civilians in the town (some armed some not) in order to simulate for players how difficult it is in real life to avoid civilian casualties when you have civilians mixed in with gunmen and when you're using heavy weaponry. But if that is not something you'd like to see your addon used for then I'll just keep it as a private mission or use another older Iraqi Army addon for any public release of that mission. Acecombat 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Miles you cheater you I've been working on such a mission for RudeDogs bradleys , its a bitch to make the town correctly it takes a lot oftime to get placements of things right especially if your building the whole town from scratch . I am however only using UCEs Middle eastern rebel blokes as rebels against US Desert HYK Inf and Brads plus hummers
