Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 My mistake, Australia does, indeed, use the Bison, the ASLAV PC is a Bison, except that it has a .50 instead of a 7.62. (although AS does use the FN MAG, so I'm quite sure many of them mount that same MG.) And yes, I'm aware that the textures need to be improved. Quite likely, as time goes on and new things are done on the way to the full complete version, the textures will be improved (in fact, that's very much the idea). What you may not have noticed is that this has been very vocally described as a BETA. As for the lag you're getting, this is a pretty High poly model, so it probably has a lot to do with your system specs.
9mm 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Great news, downloading! Now it's time for airborne units!
Lt_Damage 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Great! I guess if you wanted to use it w/o other addons, you could just unpbo it and change the crews. Ya if people want to thats fine, the cpp is open source and was left unbinarized. Sorry, I would not if even thought of editing your addon without permission. I would of only had the edited version for use on our Australian server. Our players get their addons by an automatic update tool which downloads and installs them. There would not of been an "alternate" version floating around the internet. In any case I am happy to wait for the ASLAV, so thanks, and once again nice work on the addon. Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Oooh the Irish army uses the PIII 8x8 with a remote control 12.7mm turret, what fortuity that this addon should arrive just as I start work on an Irish infantry pack.
miles teg 1 Posted September 1, 2003 Is there any chance you guys could make an international LAV-25 with no national markings on it? I imagine it would just require a slight modification of your LAV III. The LAV-25 is widely used all over the world so it would really make alot of people happy I think. Also I believe I read something about the US Army buying LAV III. Personally I would just be happy if you released even an international version of the LAV III that just had the default West (US) crew. To me it looks "close enough" to an LAV-25 to keep me happy. It would help alot of mod teams such as the various mod teams who are making US Marines (TOW, Digital Grenade, ect..), the Australian mod teams, ect... Anyways fantastic work on these vehicles. I do enjoy them and your Canadian troops for making UN peacekeeping missions. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
9mm 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Would it be possible to shoot troops inside the APC when badoors are open, becouse at the current stage it's just an eye candy. Apart from that GREAT JOB!!! Hope UN versions are commin along nicely.
Cloney 0 Posted September 1, 2003 VERY Nice, could make a nice styker with some editing.
Sxep 0 Posted September 1, 2003 WOW its great, but for some reason the Bison.zip is corrupt when i DL it (3 times now, on different sites) but the LAVIII works fine
Powerslide 0 Posted September 1, 2003 WOW its great, but for some reason the Bison.zip is corrupt when i DL it (3 times now, on different sites)but the LAVIII works fine  Anyone else having this problem?
343rdBadger 0 Posted September 1, 2003 I dunno about anyone else...but im having a hell of a time controling this vechicle??...It just won't target properly at times?...nor will it drive where I want it to go?? Seems it gets confused easily?...I will play with it some more to figure out what the "f" im doin wrong  ...I tried it with both armour crew and regular soldiers...sometimes it works...sometimes not? On another note..I also tweaked it a bit...the d-rings/Loops were a bright white??...almost like they didn't get textured..so I played with the saturation settings and color brightness on the tex to get it to look like steel...looks convincing now (see pic)...also in this "tweak pic are the Mi-28 which the saturation is increased by 40%...looks (although its very subtle in the pic) much more robust now...richer in color to match the T-90's  ...I also fixed the silly missle colors on the gadfly...this is really what promoted me to learn how these things are done in flashpoint...then one thing led to another I just "went to town" on them yesterday and last night ...haha ...fixed all the "little" things that drove me crazy ...lastly I also changed the radar on the tung...from red(dunno why it was that color?) too olive green to match the rest of the vechicle.I guess my point here is ...instead of bitching at the addon makers to fix things...its better to sit down and learn how to fix them yerself...very empowering IMO. Thanks for this great addition to flashpoint guys...from a "Proud Canadian Flashpoint Player" (Makin it hard to stay a dedicated russian aggressor now!! SPQR 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Thanks for these wheeled AFVs still at beta v0.9 stage. Using scripts for hatches is a great idea, even if OFP motor prevent us today from uprising crew's upper bodies throught the hatches of wheeled armor. But managing to put a commander in a turret is great, maybe opening a new era of armoured cars (...feel good  ).
SPQR 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Sorry I didin't think about trying that : In secured mode, are the hatches opened by your script? If not, could it be possible ? Let the experts speak  It seems that the LAV has a hard work to kill a BIS BMP  A bug ? : In single player mode, while being a LAV's gunner, when an unknown object is seen, the commander starts shouting repetitively "NO TARGET, NO TARGET, NO TARGET,..." and a man (the pilot I think) appears in front position, as if seated in the air... but he seems not to be harmed by my shooting. He disappears when the turret turned of a few degrees  Still a great job and a big nice surprise ! Operation North Star VICTRIX
343rdBadger 0 Posted September 1, 2003 ok..I just played with it some more and  I think I know whats goin on...we have to treat this as a btr-60/70/80...in the sence that this was never really meant to have a commander position...am i right?...its a game engine problem?...cause if you go in as driver...the gunner behaves himself...and things start to work as they should...so the Commander position is really only for multiplayer use...yes?. Also...i noticed the armour pierceing shells seem to take its time in destroying the bmp as mention above...HOWEVER,...the HE does the job in no time!!...which is much more fun IMO... bigger bang fer yer buck gotta love this puppy man!! Major Gripe 0 Posted September 1, 2003 It seems that the LAV has a hard work to kill a BIS BMP Â In my tests the LAV is bloody lethal against the BMP 1 and 2! When i'm attacking the LAV, playing as BMP commander my vehicle started getting hammered, and ultimately was dstroyed, before the LAV was in 'radar view'! Excellent addon ONS, love the burn script and as mentioned the textures could do with a little pick me up!!
killswitch 19 Posted September 1, 2003 WOW its great, but for some reason the Bison.zip is corrupt when i DL it (3 times now, on different sites)but the LAVIII works fine  Anyone else having this problem? Yep. Tried one on http://ofp.info/ and on the ONS site. Both instances of bison_0.9.zip were corrupted.  Using WinRar 3.20 (the latest as of this writing) *EDIT: tried downloading the bison_0.9.zip from the Northstar site again. This time, the archive turned out fine. The Internet works in mysterious ways...
Dewey61 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Working ok for me. Great work as usual from OPNS
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 Thjey're not corrupted, it's your software. download the latest version of WinRAR or download WinZip As for controlling the vehicle with the Commander, it is possible, except that the commander tries to give orders to the vehicle like it's tracked. not really that big a thing, since you do get used to it, you just have to make sure that if you give a turn order, the driver has some good speed. You just have to get the knack of it beyond that. Also, if you're using the command view, it will engage and destroy targets for you. So far, twice I have heard about that 'no target, no target' bug, but I haven't been able to reproduce it. It seems to only happen occasionally. . . on certain systems? Quote[/b] ]Is there any chance you guys could make an international LAV-25 with no national markings on it? I imagine it would just require a slight modification of your LAV III. The LAV III is significantly different from the LAV-25. . . Different enough, in fact, that it's basically a completely different vehicle (it's in any event, a *completely* different hull). As I said before, however, I'm in the process of making a Coyote, LAV-25, and ASLAV, so don't worry about it, Miles.
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 2, 2003 I've discovered why the 'guy sitting out front' bug happens, and as a result, I have no choice but to make the commander's position into a cargo position. . . (doesn't work properly anyway.)
SPQR 0 Posted September 2, 2003 Maybe can you cheat, replacing the turret commander by an inert "dummy"? (Sorry but I even don't know if my sentence isn't smart!! Â ) Then, the gunner won't feel lonely in the turret anymore !
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 2, 2003 That's what I was saying. I figure, since it's an APC, you can just have the Section Commander board there (squad leader in US terminology). Anyway. . . time for some screens: ASLAV-25 ASLAV-25 rear USMC LAV-
ExtracTioN 0 Posted September 2, 2003 Nice picture nice job Sigma-6 For the LAV-25 will there be a desert version with sandbags on sides
One 0 Posted September 2, 2003 about the goggle view bug - where you see the outline of the vehicles when driving these beats - the goggles used on the new models seem to have the bug but when you use BAS delta/rangers in these vehicles, the bug isnt there with the goggles................whats up with that? Sigma-6 29 Posted September 2, 2003 Ask Matthijs Crielaard If you don't want to see that, take the helmet off before you enter the vehicle.
