I think people here actually believe that he has to be like many of the characters he plays.

What if, he actually is quite smart? Its no impossibility you know. And at any point, you are getting a filthy rich guy to represent you, which means you might not have to worry about corruption. And that cant be all bad, right?

Yes I met him when the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadion in Graz was opened.

He sure had his goals when he started his career as a bodybuilder in austria but whenever he opens his mouth it gets kind of funny. Let´s say it like this:

He had a strong media presence here in germany lately as he promoted his new movie and whenever you switched to a talk show with some level you saw his face and heard his funny words. Even the moderators sometimes were speechless because of his stupidity.

I don´t want to discredit the person Arnold Schwarzenegger, his work for the special olympics, drug-prevention or such, but I think you need more than "I´ll be back" for seriouse policy work.

If he spoke perfect or even good english, he would lose his entire trademark. The cheesy german/austrian accent is part of what made him all his money. It is one of his defining charactaristics as an actor. So in my opinion it might just as well have been a smart move to stick with the accent.

As for education, he DID graduate from University of Wisconsin-Superior with a major in international marketing of fitness and business administration. Which means he is more educated than the average cat. And add to that the fact that he owns and runs several succesful businesses, you get a man who has the brains enough to get some place. That to me means he atleast stands a chance to be a good politician to.

Further more, he received an Honorary Doctorate from his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin Superior, in 1996 in recognition of his charitable works. Also not a bad thing for a politician. Also received an honorary doctorate from Chapman University in Orange, California.

you don't want to know what Chapman college is......it is accreditted, but i would not put it on levels of UCLA, UCI or USC, or even Cals State systems.

unfortunately, i heard a lot of groaning and moaning as Arnie made the comment. they were ready to vote for Riordan instead of Davis, but they now are forced to voted Davis.

Problem with Arnie, as stated above is that he has 1)no experience, 2)no vision. He did work for a state-wide proposal that enables earmarking certain amount of state budget for education, but i think that's it in terms of work.

you must remember that Ventura didn't suddenly appear from nowhere. He wroked as mayor of a small city for some year prior to his governorship. unfortunately, Arnie does not have such training.

I know that Ventura has almost as much experience in politics as in the ring. but he's a fine example to show that show-buisiness people can become successful politicians.

but political analysts say that as long as he reiterates rhetoric, it would work due to his high likability. his basic stances were that he will get rid of bureaucrats and cleanup the state capitol hall, and with such rhetoric, added with his famous name, would work.

he does have a starting point of making california more business friendly, but has no detail plans.
