-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 7, 2003 LOL Hey It's america! If Jesse "The Body" Ventura became a politician, then Arnie is the right man for the job. Remember: Reagan was also an actor.
Longinius 1 Posted August 7, 2003 Why would Arnie automatically be a bad politician? I think people here actually believe that he has to be like many of the characters he plays. What if, he actually is quite smart? Its no impossibility you know. And at any point, you are getting a filthy rich guy to represent you, which means you might not have to worry about corruption. And that cant be all bad, right?
Balschoiw 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Quote[/b] ]Why would Arnie automatically be a bad politician? Because he is stupid. Simple as that. But then again you already have some great experiences with polititians who are not smarter than a leaf of bread  Edit: Schwarzenegger can´t even talk properly. Neither in german nor in english. Oh and you might want to check his scholar education. He hasn´t much so that MUST make him a perfect candidate.

He does'nt speak english fluid but what does that have to do with being a governor? Don't you understand what he says?
Balschoiw 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Quote[/b] ]How do you know if he is smart or dumb?Do you know him? Yes I met him when the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadion in Graz was opened. He sure had his goals when he started his career as a bodybuilder in austria but whenever he opens his mouth it gets kind of funny. Let´s say it like this: He had a strong media presence here in germany lately as he promoted his new movie and whenever you switched to a talk show with some level you saw his face and heard his funny words. Even the moderators sometimes were speechless because of his stupidity. I don´t want to discredit the person Arnold Schwarzenegger, his work for the special olympics, drug-prevention or such, but I think you need more than "I´ll be back" for seriouse policy work. Quote[/b] ]"In one hand I will crush the hippies, in the other I will lower taxes."-Actual Excerpt from Arnold Campaign
Longinius 1 Posted August 7, 2003 Quote[/b] ]Edit: Schwarzenegger can´t even talk properly. Neither in german nor in english. Oh and you might want to check his scholar education. He hasn´t much so that MUST make him a perfect candidate. If he spoke perfect or even good english, he would lose his entire trademark. The cheesy german/austrian accent is part of what made him all his money. It is one of his defining charactaristics as an actor. So in my opinion it might just as well have been a smart move to stick with the accent. As for education, he DID graduate from University of Wisconsin-Superior with a major in international marketing of fitness and business administration. Which means he is more educated than the average cat. And add to that the fact that he owns and runs several succesful businesses, you get a man who has the brains enough to get some place. That to me means he atleast stands a chance to be a good politician to. Further more, he received an Honorary Doctorate from his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin Superior, in 1996 in recognition of his charitable works. Also not a bad thing for a politician. Also received an honorary doctorate from Chapman University in Orange, California. Want quotes? "In the beginning I was selfish. It was all about, 'How do I build Arnold? How can I win the most Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympic contests? How can I get into the movies and get into business?' I was thinking about myself...As I've grew up, got older, maybe wiser, I think your life is judged not by how much you have taken but by how much you give back." I'd vote for a guy that reasons that way...
Shashman 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Ronald Reagan started as governor of California and he was an actor LOL! Arnie's opposition includes Larry Flint and a silicone titted porn star who wants to tax breast implants and swap guns for x-rated movies
Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Listen to Arnies commentary on the conan movie. Its absolutely hilarious. 'Ha ha haa ... dis is where I punch de caaamel ha ha ' 'This movie is great we should make anoder one' (director) 'Umm.. we did make another one, don't you remember?' 'OH YEAH! ha ha ha!' bn880 5 Posted August 7, 2003 Whats a leaf of bread? You know, when you take a loaf of bread and cut it with a knife, you get something like a leaf of bread. or as you say slice of bread.
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Whats a leaf of bread? You know, when you take a loaf of bread and cut it with a knife, you get something like a leaf of bread. Â or as you say slice of bread. I think Balshoiw referred to the German proverb "dumm wie ein Laib Brot" (dumb lika a loaf of bread), but accidentry made leaf out of loaf.
USSoldier11B 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Yes, but a Republican governor in California would piss a lot of liberals off. One of the reasons I am alive. lol. you mean a Republican who is shunned by GOP? it's amazingly hilarious to see how some GOP fringed for his 'lukewarm' political position suddenly become the darling of the party as soon as he gathers attention. if he gets elected, it would show that current GOP is not in alignment with national politics. We are talking about California here Ralph. That's probably as good as things get for the GOP there. I'd vote for him. Considering people like Diane Feinstein are revered in that state. bn880 5 Posted August 7, 2003 Great CNN calls him: Schwarnezegger What I want to know is what is Schwarne and what is a zegger in German.
USSoldier11B 0 Posted August 7, 2003 At least they didn't call him Jagermeister
der bastler 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Great CNN calls him:Schwarnezegger What I want to know is what is Schwarne and what is a zegger in German. Â That means nothing. But "Schwarzen-Egger"... could be originating from the profession of the family, like Smith (=blacksmith) or Carpenter: Schwarzen...schwarz... means black Egger...means the one who uses an Egge (=harrow) "black" is possibly related to black soil... But here's a paper (google's my friend) with a good analysis.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 7, 2003 Also received an honorary doctorate from Chapman University in Orange, California. you don't want to know what Chapman college is......it is accreditted, but i would not put it on levels of UCLA, UCI or USC, or even Cals State systems. but let's not forget that he runs several businesses, and as longinius said, they are successful. We are talking about California here Ralph. That's probably as good as things get for the GOP there. I'd vote for him. Considering people like Diane Feinstein are revered in that state. unfortunately, i heard a lot of groaning and moaning as Arnie made the comment. they were ready to vote for Riordan instead of Davis, but they now are forced to voted Davis. Problem with Arnie, as stated above is that he has 1)no experience, 2)no vision. He did work for a state-wide proposal that enables earmarking certain amount of state budget for education, but i think that's it in terms of work. HEHE looking at the list of the other candidates I don't think Arnie has any competition except for maybe Gary Coleman Gary Coleman was a child actor in 80s from a show called 'Different Strokes', where 2 black kids were adopted by a white family. He had some emergency liver surgery and side effect cameout to be that he won't grow any longer. Hey It's america! If Jesse "The Body" Ventura became a politician, then Arnie is the right man for the job. Remember: Reagan was also an actor. you must remember that Ventura didn't suddenly appear from nowhere. He wroked as mayor of a small city for some year prior to his governorship. unfortunately, Arnie does not have such training.
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 7, 2003 I know that Ventura has almost as much experience in politics as in the ring. but he's a fine example to show that show-buisiness people can become successful politicians. Edit: hey Ventura and Arnie remind me of the movies Predator and Running Man. Ventura in Predator Ventura's character in Running man was Capt. Freedom. killagee 0 Posted August 8, 2003 He will have to lose the first election, just so he can say " I'll be back.." Do we actually know what his manifesto is?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 8, 2003 He will have to lose the first election, just so he can say " I'll be back.."Do we actually know what his manifesto is? you mean his policy? none. but political analysts say that as long as he reiterates rhetoric, it would work due to his high likability. his basic stances were that he will get rid of bureaucrats and cleanup the state capitol hall, and with such rhetoric, added with his famous name, would work. he does have a starting point of making california more business friendly, but has no detail plans. Renagade 0 Posted August 8, 2003 Politics are funny  in the US,why is there so much hullabaloo over the ppl running  or governor or president. Major Fubar 0 Posted August 8, 2003 If Arnie does become governor, people from minnesota would have to think twice about their "My governor can beat up your governor" bumper stickers: Actually, Jesse is an ex-green beret and WWF superstar, I think he could proably kick Arnie's ass anyway...
