Great idea for a mod, BIS should have done this for Resistance smile_o.gif

Please use non-JPEG weapons and try using the AK sound from the FDF mod (I just hate flat weapon sounds!).

And does the RPG-7 blast really damage personnel or is it just a smoke effect? I think it was explained a bit unclearly.

-Superheated gas feature : You should NOT stay behind RPG-7 while gunner firing, the shockwave could wound you (you need approximately 4-5 meters security range)

Unclearly?  tounge_o.gif

I'd suggest using an RPD for the Resistance instead of an RPK. RPDs were widely exported by the Soviets to guerrilla and foreign armies in the '60s and '70s. The SEB Nam pack had a great RPD. I suggest using that.

Also, you may want to make the weapons JAM compatible. When you see JAM, you'll know why. smile_o.gif

I would like to see new animation for RPG-7 so that soldier holds it properly and not like LAW.

And please dont use JPG textured weapons.

Will the AI soldier with RPG be able to target and fire on helicopters? If not, does anyone know where I can get enemy troops who do?

Hear hear! smile_o.gif

I think RPD would fit in well...I also think SKS and PPSh would be appropriate too...a lot of poorer countries and militias still use these, especially back in 1985...

Upminders WW2 pack countains a good RPD, as does Seb Nampack 2...

...but ultimately, it's up to you guys what wepaons you include, and the mod does look great...

I definatively support this idea. Also the ideo of mismatched clothing like in BIB's african soldier pack would be nice. Most real-world militias and resistance units do not have uniforms but rather stuff they've picked up from enemys and such combined with normal clothing and perhaps some foreign camouflage given to the unit from foreign supporters. So a mix of soviet/russian camo, US woodland (the most common/ widely copied camo), civilian clothes, and maybe some other camo types would be nice.

SEB Nam Pack II

There is an RPG-2 (I think) in the pack that is treated as an anti-aircraft weapon, so the AI will fire it at choppers as well as vehicles.

And I agree that would be a nice thing to have for this pack as well. It would be great if it could be scripted so the AI doesn't bother engaging a helicopter if it is moving over a certain speed. Otherwise, they will continue thinking they are using a homing missile and waste their rockets.

Sounds a bit like ADS Guerillas:

Using ww2 weapons and vehicles is still very feasible especially if you consider that every army in the world has some sort of second line or reserve force, so you might equip some units with cold war equipment but have either a part time village militia or rear echelon units equipped with older weapons and vehicles...I assure you this is the way it happens in the third world which is why for instance reserve units in Yemen, Libya and Vietnam still use BTR-152s, North Korea and Albania still retain Mig-15UTIs as both trainers and ground attack aircraft.

Yep, I've heard that too - in fact, I'm pretty sure someone who actually served in an M113 crew posted that here once upon a time.

The US army retained the M3 in service for certain vehicle crews until 1990 at which point the last units to use it (stationed in Germany I think) were issued with Carbines (M4s not M1s), the french made the unusual and expensive decision of replacing similarly obsolete MAT smgs with MP-5s instead of relying on the bullpup Famas, which is what the British and Irish Armies did with their respective bullpup rifles.

I have found UCE:s resistance units to be the best so far. Hopefully these are a match to his jungle camo guys.

Together with UCE:s east pack of course smile_o.gif:

That fire effect is by far better looking than any fire made for OFP.

How does molotov coctail work in OFP?

I believe it isnt bossible to use it like finnish used it in Winter War. Coctails were thrown at tanks airintake hole and fire spread inside and crew was forced to come out.

Ofcourse it doesnt work for modern tanks or in OFP.

Does the fire stick to soldiers and vehicles that touch the fire and do they take damage until fire stops burning?

I suprised myself on how much questions I can ask. tounge_o.gif

Molotov cocktail only work whith FIA infantry (require script and eventhandler in cpp). They are inefficient against armored, but usefull against non-armored vehicle and infantry. Molotov cocktail inherit from "Handgrenade" class, so AI could only throw them on infantry enemy.

The fire doesn't stick to soldiers/vehicles. Fire give damage in its initial radius until fire stops burning.

For the lastest new :

High Detail pack 1.1 textures conversion finished. Now all weapons textures are in .PAC (+colour and luminosity modified)

Thanks major fubar, but i knew about those. Well made units too.. They are still flagged as beta i see, wonder if they have been updated.. MY major gripe with them is that they are too uniform also in large numbers. IMHO only BIBs african pack does a nice job of simulating a third world militia because of the widely varied clothing on the units.

...so, sorry to be a pain, but any rough ETA on release? Sorry to bug you, but I'm really looking forward to this release, and would love to write some missions using these addons...

In fact, I'm in the planning stages of an FIA mini-campaign, also playable as a series of co-op missions, using several high quality addons...

I finished my new stuff : the Yperite bottle smile_o.gif

It release diffuse toxic gas (Yperite = Mustard gas). A nasty chemical weapon you would better use wisely according to the direction of the wind.

FIA12.jpg

ISSUE:

- AI is not aware about the danger, so if you ask to one of your squad AI to drop his bottle you should ask him to fall back quickly. The enemy AI also won't try to avoid the lethal clouds

- Gas also dammage non-armored vehicle, I know it's look like unrealistic but remember non-armored vehicle are not pressurised or NBC-proof so crew onboard could be killed

The diffusion of the mustard gas depend of the wind, for this example on the screenshot below its trail reach approximately 70m but it could be much less or maybe more (according to the weather situation)

FIA13.jpg

The yellow mustard gas clouds are not dense, so you'd better watch carefully because it's hazardous and lethal if you cross or stay near them

I think we need a gasmask addon to counter this. Shouldn't be impossible to make, after all, there are BAS rangers who suffer from the sand-in-the-eye syndrome when jumping out of choppers without protective glasses. ghostface.gif
