Koolkid101 0 Posted July 20, 2003 The only reason I bought PS2 was to see that famous bar fight in Medal of Honor:Frontline. And it was worth it. I suggest you buy it. Meh, I got a PS2, but I wish I should've gotten a GC or XBox for multiplayer.
SpecOp9 0 Posted July 20, 2003 Yea, Xbox will likely have no clipping problems -------------- Quote[/b] ]why some of you want me to play Operation Flashpoint , a game i own already on PC ? i doubt that the XBox version will create a big change from the PC version Very likely, there will be no cheaters or hackers.. Clipping problems likely fixed Comes with a mission editor (awsome extra for a console game) ---------- But honestly that does'nt matter dude. Buy an Xbox, almost everybody here suggests that, as do I. The Hard drive is gigantic, and you don't need to buy a piece of crap Memory Card just to save games. X marks the Box ;)
SpecOp9 0 Posted July 20, 2003 And CuteQA is right. Grand Turismo 4 is a game not to be missed! (mostly me cuz I'm a car freak)
ZIKAN 0 Posted July 20, 2003 i seriously need a DVD player other than my computer and i'm not against some good ol' console fun1 more question , if you got a PS2 already , are an adapter for online game and the SOCOM game worth buying ? -edit- thinking about buying GTA3 vice city too my birthday approaches , so i'm thinking about what i'll ask for IF you want to watch DVD's  I suggest you buy a dedicated DVD player, you can buy a decent one  far cheaper than a games console/DVD bundle. I wouldnt recommend buying a console purely to watch DVDs on your TV. However if you want a games console also go for the XBOX. At present the range of decent games are not as good as the PS2. But the Xbox has a wider potential for different uses, and better multiplayer support. My wife bought me a Xbox in May for my birthday (a devious ploy to let her get more time on the PC I think!) Regards Xbox games, I recommend you buy Moto GP2 , probably the best game available IMO

Warin 0 Posted July 20, 2003 Why on earth would you buy an Xbox to play OFP? I'd rather wait the extra months to get OFP2. I doubt Microsoft will let OFPXB interoperate with OFPPC, so you wont get the wealth of add-ons and the ability to play with PC OFP users. ANd you have to play with a game pad. ICK. The reasons I dont like the Xbox have nothing to do with it being an MS product. The ergonomics of the controllers are horrid, and most of it's best titles are PC games that MS has bullied the publishers into dropping onto the XBox first (Anyone remember when Halo was a PC Project before they absorbed Bungie. Or Knights of the Old Republic..)
SpecOp9 0 Posted July 20, 2003 yep, Quote[/b] ]Converting the graphics engine over to the Xbox hardware requires some adaptations, so Bohemia Interactive decided to add some of the enhancements in the works for Operation Flashpoint 2. The graphical upgrades include higher polygon counts for the models and the environments as well as some additional special effects. The game is due out in Europe this fall, but it likely won't ship in the US until early next year. Operation Flashpoint for Xbox will be worth it That is why I am buying it. Warin 0 Posted July 20, 2003 It will still be limited to 640x480 res for regular TV's, and if they have a super duper Hi Def mode, you MIGHT get 800x600 or 1024x768. Far less than a PC will be able to do. The XBox was a great machine 3 years ago when it was first designed. But a modern PC running plain jane OFP will totally blow OFP XBox out of the water, no matter what they have done to it. I could be wrong..but looking at the specs of an XBox coupled with how OFP would perform on a similar PC, I am not holding out a lot of hope
SpecOp9 0 Posted July 20, 2003 True... Out of everything with videogames, PC will always be my favorite
ale2999 0 Posted July 21, 2003 I never said xbox is the best gaming platform, as pc is (that is where I spend all my precious dollars), but it is the best console hands down. Better multiplay even without xbox live, great adult games, and more power. I definetely got my money worth out of it. And btw I think ofp 4 xbox will rock: They already said that it will be available with downloadable content. I bet u addon at ease is gonna be somewhat implemented in ofpxbox! so whatever the resolution is, it still looks good on pc
SpecOp9 0 Posted July 21, 2003 I hope so... Would be awsome if they made a converting tool. For example, the RAH-66 Comanche by DKM could be converted to what the XBox reads, and you can download it! Going a little too far Spec Op....
Skul 0 Posted July 21, 2003 I find it strange that people go berserk over the consoles. If you have one console, you get shouted at and have some people saying the console you have is crap and gay and all sorts and they only focus on the negative points of the damn thing. I mean, X-Box: It's from Microsoft (huge rabble) PS2: You need to by a memory card to save your game (huge rabble) Gamecube: There have been some stuff said about it, but I can't remember (huge rabble, however) I thought we were all mature people here, so why are we fighting over what console is the best? I have both the X-Box and the PS2 and I'm happy. If I also had the Gamecube, I'd still be happy. So come on, people! They're just big hunks of plastic with wires that play games! Private Joker 0 Posted August 6, 2003 Xbox Rulez! Halo and OPF are commin. PS2 are crap. The only advantage is that they are slightly smaller and come DVD ready. I didn't buy my xbox to watch DVD's anyway. Get four control pads, a large tv and your away on Halo with yoour mates on a Friday night before you go out! PS2 control pad is crap as well. And OPF on Xbox uses the OPF2 engines, trees really luke like trees and the physics are far better. I have a fast pc as well and flashpoint on it. but sometimes its fun to just plug a game in the xbox lie on ma bed and play away.! Ps2 is so underpower it cannot even run Doom 3! drewb99 0 Posted August 6, 2003 I must be the only person in the world that liked the origional Xbox pad But if you want a console, go out and mod an Xbox. The PS series has always been underpowered and have had some nasty overheating issues, even with the fan they put in the PS2. I don't have a console, but if you must have one, grab an Xbox. DarkLight 0 Posted August 6, 2003 i seriously need a DVD player other than my computer and i'm not against some good ol' console fun1 more question , if you got a PS2 already , are an adapter for online game and the SOCOM game worth buying ? -edit- thinking about buying GTA3 vice city too my birthday approaches , so i'm thinking about what i'll ask for I have a Ps2, it's in my room and i really like it. If you ask me it's a good idea to buy one... Ps2 has great games (gta series, medal of honor series, hitman, tony hawk series, gran turismo series, etc etc etc EEEETTTCCC), basically the list doesn't end very fast. As you said you can play music and dvd on your playstation, i really like this cuz i like to rent a movie and watch it in my room. SOCOM US Navy Seals is a pretty cool game, you get headphones with the game and you actually need to say stuff like "Team, follow me" to make your team follow you. Very cool, one of my friends has the game and i must say it looks pretty cool. You can do all sorts of nice stuff, cut scenes are very well done... There's just something about the game that i personally don't like. I don't really know what it is but for some reason i'm not THAT fond of the game. But of coruse this doesn't mean that it's a bad game. It's pretty good, you could rent it, if you don't really like it then you can still buy another game... But you'll probable like it... It's not possible yet to play online here (or at least that's what i think) so don't worry about the adapter yet, you can always buy that later. You'll probable have a good time playing SOCOM in singleplayer... GTA: Vice city is a very good game, write this down cuz it's very handy, you can make the graphics look A LOT better. All you need to do is put trails off... I dunno where exactly you can find the trails thing, you need to press start and then you need to go to the options where you can change your screen setup. You'll see TRAILS ON, make that TRAILS OFF and your graphics will look a lot better... Vice city is a good game, just don't expect too much of it, a lot of ppl think it's a billion time better than GTA 3 and then when they play VC they're very disappointed, not because VC sucks. But because they expected waaaaay too much... Anyway, this game is worth buying, no doubt about it. If i were you, i'd go for it and buy a PS2... but of course you need to decide... Sole 0 Posted August 6, 2003 I have a PS2 and I'm very happy with it... I guess the choice of console kinda depends on what games you like.. PS2 just happens to suit me best... My fav games are GT3, GTA3, GTA VC and Ace Combat 04 Now I'm just waiting for Metal Slug 3, Gran Turismo 4 and Ace Combat #
Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX 0 Posted August 6, 2003 Consoles are worth buying only if you like fighting games (Soulcalibur etc) or sports games (whatever ripoff of 5 years ago they have tweaked a little and added a '2004' onto the end of ;) ) If you want to play driving games, get a PC (especially GTA series, 10x better on PC. I completed the PS2 version three times waiting for the PC one to come out, then have been playing that pretty much solid until VC came out. The PC version beats console in controls, graphics, gameplay and sound) First person shooter? PC. You just can't play them with a pad. They are not nearly as good - you cannot aim and move around with anything like as much accuracy, no matter how good you are. (hence why the quake3 players got absolutely owned when PC players hacked into the DC server ;) )
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted August 7, 2003 What about Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec? that's an awesome game.

I don't like racing games that's why i've never played GT but if you ask me the GT games are pretty good for ppl who like to race... I can play FPS with a pad, sure, it's very hard in the beginning, having to stear with 2 joysticks is a very very veeeeery weird feeling. However, this doesn't mean that it's impossible, i can play Timesplitters 2, Moh: Frontline and Hitman without having a lot of problems with my aim. I must admit that the first couple times you play games like this you'll probable shoot more bullets in the walls than in the enemy. But believe me, after a while, you'll get used to it and it'll be rather easy. Actually i must say that i think the FPS controller setup is one of the best setups you can get. Everytime i play a game that includes shooting i switch the controller setup (if possible). I like to stear with 2 joysticks... Oh, if you ever buy SOCOM US Navy Seals, you can change the controller setup too, the original setup sucks (or at least i think it sucks ). But if you take the same setup as MOH, TimeSplitters, and other games the aiming will be a lot easier...
MASTAKILLA 0 Posted August 7, 2003 don´t buy a ps2 for watching DVD´s - if you search a good DvD Player don´t buy an PS2 it´s not Codefree and it could not read svcd  i own one since the first day of austrian release (200 €). since then i played a couple of times with my buddies but after a short period of time it´s getting boring. if you like to play games on your tv screen buy one my favorite games: Moto Gp 3 Tekken 4/ Tag GTA Vice City
ozanzac 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Get an x-box just for the multiplayer experience alone. Plus, u can connect it to a hub and have multiple x-boxes running the same game for up to 16 people (I Think thats the max, dunno though). Me and me mates used to do it every couple of Friday nights. Awesome fun. PS2 is allright, but lacks the modability that the x-box has, and nintendo.... well, their stuff is mostly kiddy Mario stuff, excluding the EA brand. (EA and Nintendo are in bed togeather. X-Box, more fun, more modability. Closest console to the freedom of a PC. Don't forget, X-Box live,....
