i was just wondering whats the difference between the Pavehawk and the blackhawk? (i dont no much about helicopters), because just by looking at them they look exactly the same to me (except the paint jobs on them)

Could some one please explain the differences to me?

thanks

We allready have wink_o.gif

MH-60L/K Blackhawk Page

M/HH-60G Pavehawk Page

The main differences are the roles, and the operators.

The Blackhawk is operated by the US Army, whilst the Pavehawk is operated by the USAF. The main roles of the Blackhawk are troop insertion and extraction, whereas the Pavehawk is specialised for Combat Search And Rescue (CSAR), and is often used for area security and patrol.

Well I didn't just pop out the door and take that picture rock.gif

I just think the scheme that;s in the picture I linked is more common than the one you're using. But that's just my opinion wink_o.gif

That may have been, that scheme was applied to a lot of Pavehawks [Edit] and Blackhawks (Note: UH-60A "Desert Hawk") [/Edit] during Desert Storm (1991) but I believe that the "tri-colour" camo, as seen on our helo's is now the "norm" for helicopters operating in the desert.

Note the date on the picture you provided:

Bas is it posible to change the Gunnerposition, so that he is looking out of the chopper window?

i saw a few pictures and a Movie with the BH Gunners, and all where looking out of the window to have a better overview of the battlfield.

(couldn´t find a better Picture sorry, i know he is on the ground on the first pic and maybe is looking at some beer standing infront of the picture)

And another question.

Will the Pavehawk have abillity, simular like the DAP, to fire Hellfires?

Maybe a version like this (Missile rack is empty but you can tell from the pic where the Hellfires where.

Thats a Sea Hawk, you can see the different rear wheel that is moved closer to the front of the aircraft in Sea Hawks, i dont think there have been any instances where a Pavehawk has used Hellfires.

I did originally do some new animations for this, but it looked a little stupid having the gunner hanging out, and the helicopter going at 200+ MPH (or KPH, or whatever the OFP engine uses)

Unfortunately, its just another of the silly game engine limits...

I got a couple of questions for some BAS members-

Will we see new crewmembers? (USAF pilots, Crewchiefs, and maybe Pararescuemen)

Will there be a Heavily Armed Version ? With like 50 cals mounted in the sliding doorways and miniguns? (I don't know much about the OFP engine, so this may not even be possible)

Personally, I don't care what you guys say. It's a BAS addon, it will fuckin rock!

WEll it would be posible to add a .50 and a Minigun on the LEFT side, like the DAP where the mini and the chaingun use the same animation/targeting

Are you really shure?

I will try to get more info.

Well it says Naval Air Station, but that could meen anything.

That heavy armed version is something for OFP2 (a .50 on each side in the window and a m240 on each side in the cargo-area)

As for the desert camo; I really think the 2 colour is in use right now. And your "desert" cammo looks way too green to me. The gunship grey looks awesome, though.

I'll have to second Evis on this one, that is most certainly a Seahawk, as the Seahawk is the ONLY variant of the H-60 series to have the rear undercarraige moved forward (and with twin wheels) as shown in your picture.

All other variants (Black, Pave, Night, Desert ect) have the single-wheel tail landing gear.

correct. The media has it wrong very often. Even the movie BHD would have been a disaster if the US military denied to give them BH's. Ridley Scott planned to use black painted Heuy's in that case. Can you even believe that?

That's why we allways say "And you believe everything you see on TV/in films?"

There is nothing better for research than a good, reliable book (i.e. the "Janes" series of recognition and information guides)

Nothing beats thourgh research wink_o.gif

Ok sorry my fault wink_o.gif

About the Gunner animation...Why not let only his head stick out and not much of the body?

that would look ok.

besides in the current position, i doesn´t even look like he´s holding the minigun.

Cpt.Frostbite..if you remember the movie, the Co´s in the Air..You know the guys who gave orders from the air.

Where sitting in a huey( black).

I remember you could see it a fraction of a second.

not the hole Heli but a small part of it.

It was all of the heli, a bit like this:

ANYHO... we digress, a lot of people have been asking what the differences between the Blackhawks and the Pavehawks will be, all I can say is, apart from the Obvious differences, such as model, textures, crew. The Pavehawk will have a lot of features that the Blackhawk does not. These will be based around the Pavehawks main roles of CSAR, and area security/patrol. What they will be, we can not confirm yet wink_o.gif

i think thats better to let the gunner to "stand" rather then "sit", just like the Chinook(of cause not stand like that way.......)

p.s. 1 thing i always forgoted, will there a MK12 SPR for seals?

That huey was actually a C2 bird. A huey was indeed used like this. But I meant the chopper super64 ect. These would have have been huey's too, if the US military would not have have given the movie full support.

Just imagine any guy with some knowlegde of military choppers watching BHD with Huey's. It's like watching these old WWii movies with Leopard and walker bulldog tanks simulating german panzers.. the horror!! (just like a re-textured m60 that was supposed to look like a wwii panther tank. One of the early addons of OFP)

Hueys were not used at all by the US Army in Somalia. They used Kiowas for surveilance, and Blackhawks for all the other tasks. That picture is of the C2 bird that is meant to be a Blackhawk, but because they didnt get the BH's until 3 months into filming, they had to shoot some scenes like that, and hope that people wouldn't notice the difference...

And yes, the horror, (I'm a self confessed aircraft/helicopter lover) and I nearly died when I saw the "making of BHD" for the first tie, and he said they might have had to use hueys...

Yeah, you're right. I just checked. It should have been a blackhawk indeed. Silly people. I would have re-done those scenes. But hey; the movie is unrealistic as hell, so this is just one of the many mistakes.

In one scene you can clearly see the dummy-rounds on the M60 ammo-belt of nelson or twombly (I forgot who).

Did anyone notice that "Star 41" was called inbound to land at the crash site it was an Ah-6.. then when it got there it was an Mh-6? lol lots of things in blackhawk down they thought we wouldnt notice.

I still laugh at the part the Delta throws the grenade 60 floors up and gets it right in the window to kill the gunmen when they were all pinned down.
