They just reflect the number of posts you've made. At 500 posts, I think you get 2 stars. 3 stars at 1000 posts... 4 stars at 2500, I think.

I think it's 2 stars at 400, 3 stars at 800, 4 stars at 1500 (I should be able to test this soon ), and 5 stars once you have "SPAM" written on your forehead.
