Blaegis 0 Posted April 7, 2003 The current conflict in Iraq has introduced broader news coverage than ever before. We've seen embedded reporters, live shots of the battlefield, BaghdadCams, official briefings from all sides and instant analysis by the newstations' pet experts. However, quantity does not necessarily mean quality. In your opinion, which of the above news agencies/stations/websites provided the most accurate, objective and impartial coverage of the war? After all, the entities providing the best wartime coverage are likely to be accurate in peacetime as well. I'm well aware that my list is far from all-inclusive, but there are only 10 poll choices allowed - so if your favorite news source isn't mentioned, feel free to mention it below. It does however give a good alternative to the mainstream US media. I'd say that it's on the level of Fox. I would separate the public sources in a couple of catagories. Fairy Tales [*]Iraqi state TV [*]CentCom/Pentagon Biased, editorializing media [*]Fox [*]CNN [*]Sky [*]IraqWar.ru [*]The Independent [*]Daily Telegraph [*]Al-Jazeera In between [*]BBC [*]AP Relatively unbiased, clean reporting [*]Reuters [*]AFP [*]AFX I gave Reuters my vote
bn880 5 Posted April 8, 2003 I totally agree with Denoir on his categories. You have to balance it all out. And if stress doesn't get to you at the "Fairy Tales" and "Biased, editorializing media" organizations, you shuld read them all and make conclusions.
FallenPaladin 0 Posted April 8, 2003 Reuters is the best, right, I forgot... I`m truly ashamed. If the word news crosses my mind it`s normally linked to Reuters, because Reuters is the origin of the german news, if I watch them. iraqwar.ru is nice because it`s something else than US or Iraq propaganda, it`s a third parties propaganda so to say. Watching propaganda can be quite entertaining. CNN is kinda bombastic with it`s design (WAR!!! tadadam tadadam) , it`s like the german tv channel RTL (WAR IN IRAQ!!! SHOWDOWN!!! tadadam tadadam)
-iCeMaN- 0 Posted April 8, 2003 FOX News is good but they don't put it on enough, so I stuck with CNN But I absolutley hate ABC !!! To hell with ABC! -iCe-
Badgerboy 0 Posted April 8, 2003 CNN? Ha you jest... It looks like some freaky gameshow, plus the fact that the gloss over news items for bloody ages. BBC etc were reporting on the Kurdish Friendly fire incident... footage, commentary, and a rough list of casualties. I flick over to CNN. 'It would seem that a Kurdish truck has been hit by US warplanes, reports say there are possible wounded. No American service men were involved' It took 1/2 a bloody hour for them to get to grips with it! Bah....
Shack 0 Posted April 8, 2003 BBC is the best I've seen, they try to stay neutral, especially when the Iraqi Information Minister comes out with some of his classics, you can see the BBC people wanting to laugh, but saying 'The Iraqis however claim this, we'll try and get evidence to support it as soon as possible.'
