  1. This is probably the most retarded thing I have read all day. What bearing does that have on this addon? It dosen't. Save your Ford VS Chevy Vs Dodge Vs Toyota Vs the Star Ship Enterprise comparisons for off topic. That is unless you know of some mystical property in the OFP engine that grants Ford skinned addons power over others...
  2. This is an outstanding addon with one of the best texturing jobs I have seen thusfar in OFP. I also really like the fact that unlike most other OFP car addons, this one cannot accelerate like a Ferrari. It adds to the realism alot. Are you planning to add any more mounting positions in future versions? I'm picturing one or two additional cargo slots in the bed, maybe using the same type sitting animation as those on the BTR-70 or 80? Just a thought.. Looking forward to the Ford and International!!

    Ships Ahoy!

Really enjoying the ships, thank you. It's fun to have AAA or patrol boat battles with them. Is there any reason why you can't target the ships? I tried with a few footmunch planes, the air rad FA/18s, and the A-10 to no avail. The only way I found to target the ships was to have someone laser designate them.

    New Chinese Release

Great job on the updates TonyRanger. I really love this mod. I'm looking forward to the surrender scripts. Will they throw down their weapons like they do now when killed? That is pretty cool in itself. One bug I have noticed is that a player on west can give orders to an eastern or resistance artillery piece. Is there a way to hide the artillery commands for people on the other side? Will the PLAN ships be released soon? You had showed the JIANGKAI FF on the samren forums (and earlier in this thread I thinK). When will that be released? Any more ships in the works? Thanks again to [HA]kgb-cccp for hosting.

Thank you very much [HA]kgb-cccp. I'm continually impressed with this mod and look forward to seeing what other inovations they come up with.

    CAT's Afghanistan Revisited 1.2

Thanks for the hard work, this has really turned out to be my favorite island. It is pretty thrilling to setup an attack in Khandahar during a stand storm while calls ring out from the Mosque (I'm using the prayer calls as a call to arms similar to Fallujah) and the gunfire begins.

    New Chinese Release

No luck here either trying to download 1.1. I can't find a mirror of it anywhere either. Grr Edit: Chinese aside, samren.cn has the most confusing forum system I have ever encountered. It's asking me about credits, a bank system, and something about students. It is also strange since if you register there, you can see less forums then if you go uncookied...

    Man, this feels weird...

Thank you for standing the watch, consider yourself properly relieved. Good luck on your new career! This means you get more time to take care of your cars right? PS Semper Fi

    The north korea thread

Since I've been out for a bit, I'll just reply to the whole thread The U.S. in no way wants a war with North Korea. There is no doubt in anyones mind that it would be a horribly bloody affair and though the U.S. and her allies would "win" in the end, it would leave the ROK, DPRK, and our Army and Marines devestated. The real kicker to this whole thing is that no side can trust the other. There is no historical precedent set by either side for holding up their end of the bargain. The U.S. (and everyone else involved) did not hold up their end of the bargain with the reactors and fuel oil. The DPRK obviously didn't hold up their end since we now have their admittance to working on a nuclear program. See, the problem from the U.S. perspective is that Kim Jong Il is still in power. Congress figured that it was a tottering regime and would fall. Their thought process was that if it was going to fall, why should they expend money on fuel oil and reactors. Unfortunetly no one figured that Kim Jong Il would gleefully starve his own people into levels unseen outside of Africa. Our bad. To refute an earlier statement in this thread that North Koreans are trained to hate Americans. That is mostly incorrect. Most North Koreans are poorly educated, impoverished, and hungry. They hate Americans because thats the status quo. Wake up, love the great leader, hate the Americans, sweep the porch, and call it a night. The military is a different matter of course. It is also widely held that Seol would be rubble within a few hours after the onset of war from the bajillion artillery pieces that the DPRK has pointing south. There is no possible way to evacuate a city that size when there is basically one highway and two rail lines running out of it. There is no way to protect those people short of developing some kind of magic shield that turns artillery shells into starcraft mugs. The North Korean nukes. I'm more worried about every nuclear power plant in the U.S. exploding simultaneously then a North Korean Taepo Dong hitting the west coast. Though now that I'm living in Japan, there is definately a higher awareness of what they could do. China. China is the supposed wild card. Personally I think if it did come to war the DPRK would find itself suddenly without the help of China. To what purpose would it serve China to support NK? The very last thing China wants is a nuclear peninsula. If the DPRK is allowed to continue reprocessing the spent fuel rods and keeps the nuke(s) they have then it is going to spark off an arms race in the region. South Korea will surely follow, and Japan wouldn't be far behind. China also knows that ultimately the DPRK would lose in a conflict. For some reason China's military has the reputation of being this great untouchable giant that is now the counter-weight to the American military machine. They will do whatever they can to avoid direct conflict with the U.S. since they know that they would come away with no victory, and a tarnished international repuation (supporting King Jong Il). China is going about things the right way at this point in my opinon. By acting as a facilitator between the U.S. and the DPRK they show that they possess experienced statesmen and that they are taking a proactive interest in their corner of the world. So where does this leave us? With the military might of the U.S. balanced against the sheer manpower of the DPRK? Unfortunetly not, as in every other major turning point in history, things are going to be decided by the personalities of a few people. You can get your own take away from that... I can't wait until we go to Ulchi Focus Lens. It will be interesting to see how the South Koreans work. Everything I know about them military wise is second hand. Besides, I want to hit port in Chinhae. Everyone tells me I have to buy blankets there??? Guess I'll have to wait and see. PS

    Best air to air missiles

The AIM-120 is quite capable, as is the AIM-9X, but my vote would still be for the Python family at this point. Hopefully the 5th gen will fix the IRCCM problems with the 4th gens...

    Game physics

Things flying 300 up to the air after being hit is quite annoying. This ties back to the orginal topic of this thread. Nothing in OFP has weight. The only thing that seems to really matter is intertia. I'm not sure why things don't vaporize either, wouldn't it actually make mp games faster if a plane that was shot down was deleted and a few random "mechanical gibs" were created instead? Add a directory to the pbo where the addon maker throws burnt tires, bent sheetmetal, and whatever other pieces that would be called when the orginal plane or object is deleted. The only question to this is what would determine an explosive kill? Kill values? If a rocket has a kill value of 1500, and a jeep has a overall armor value of 500 there would be an overkill of 1000 and it would delete the model and call the gibs maybe. I'm not sure I'm happy with that either though since we'd like to see more realistic armor values implemented. Kind of OT, but I would also like to see a ragdoll implemented. Nothing takes away from the realism of a mission like seeing a dead enemy soldier flying through the air with his rifle floating a few inches away from his hand only to land headfirst in the ground like an arrow. If a body dies the weapon they were holding should immediately be dropped. Just like the vehicles, there should be a degree of damage that a body takes before it's utterly destroyed and gibed in some way (think LGB falling on a platoon).

    Seventh

While I liked some of the Seventh songs in the original OFP, the idea of them doing covers of popular music from that era leaves me feeling a little put off. I can't imagine Seventh doing Fortunate Son (CCR) or something like that. Anyways, I really liked the scores from OFP and I hope they bring back everyone who did those to work on the second one. It's kind of weird when you think about (but cool) that BIS is one of the only companies that still uses music to help tell the story and not just for ambience. I'm glad though, it would be weird to always have music playing.

    Towable artillery

I'm not sure if this is a bug in the mission, or in the addon itself. I opened the demo mission in the editor and made myself the driver of the Krupp. Â I drove to the point where you pick up your Pak and got out. Â I would suddenly stop, and kneel down, then was put back in the truck. When I got out, this was happening. GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!!!! As any OFP gamer would, I tried to figure out how this could work to my advantage. Â If I turned around I could actually "push" the Pak and use it as a shield as I snuck up on enemies. Â Anyways, back to the reporting. Â If you save with the Pak hitched to your ass it is unhitched when you reload. Â It also unhitches if you mount it. I'm sure this is probably something that I'm doing and not the addons fault. Â Either way, it's a great addon and I love it. Â Thanks for the hard work.

    Aircraft addons

I really enjoy the newer airplane addons with ECM and all of the other neat features. It's fun to try to fly into the larger city on the Afghan map against ZU-23s, ZSU-23/4s, SA-13s, and AA men. But that's the thing. Aviation in Flashpoint will always be related to the ground in someway. Whether it be bombing missions, IADS suprression, or CAS it will somehow interact with the ground. That being said, DKMs Bronco and Commanche, BASs Little Birds and MH-47e, and Hawks MI-26 are superb examples of how aviation in Flashpoint can become more then a plaything. I think the next step for the Flashpoint aviation should be the short range cargo transports. It would be nice to see a C-130, AN-12, and AN-26/32 with some of the features we've seen on BASs MH-47e. Anyways, my vote went for the CAS option.
  15. Just wanted to let you know we all appreciate the hard work you put into this, it has definately paid off. I look forward to future versions/mods.
