The funniest thing is that most of the 'modded' cars are usually small engined. I remember being sat at the lights when a white Metro (!, pulled up along side me. He has alloys, a body kit with spoilers, intakes, and skirts(How the hell do you get body kits for metro's?), blacked out windows, and a neon tube underneath. Topped off with an original (Wrong colour), boot and left door. The guy tried to race me at the lights and failed.... (My cars a 1.1! ), then I realised. He'd only gone and modded a 1 litre metro that now weighed over a ton. 1 litre! The mind boggles.<span id='postcolor'> a dodgy-condition G-reg ('90) 990cc camper (not my pic, but its the same model) vs. a Nova off the lights. Nova driver is the stereotypical one, clearly, and along with his mate in the passenger seat, is taking the piss outta the people in the camper (me and my dad a couple of years ago) Revs at the lights and... by the time we were near the end of the small dual carriageway section doing 60 fairly easily, they were about half way along and going somewhere near 50 at a guess... flat out. The look on his face was classic, but I didn't get a good look, as it was so far back Some people.

No I'm not kidding.<span id='postcolor'> What was your car? A Leopard2?? Did you install a quick release ventil for the fuel?<span id='postcolor'> LOL, no, look back a page or two, the yellow one. At high boost the fuel flow is quite extreme. I was running at 110psi fuel pressure before, but now I opted for larger injectors and lower pressure, I think you understand the reasoning there. It only guzzles at boost, so no, it's not a leopard tank unless I'm flooring it. At which point it sounds like a tank.

PFC Mongoose 0 Posted March 26, 2003 I have a vision impairment that all but prohibits me from getting a liscence; I used to be able to drive pretty decently, though. I don't mind cycling (unless I have to leave hours early to get somewhere ) and occasionally racing my brother-in-law on his property in souped-up golf carts. Back on topic, I've owned a number of mountain bikes, mostly Prescision 18-speeds. A had a Prescision 12-speed with extra-wide tires that was great for bike trails. I can understand everyone's deal with the Novas, though. Reminds me of what I go through with BMXers out here. I HATE having to share a ike lane with the little @#$%ers. I actually got in an accident because one of them thought it would be fun to swirve into me when I was going too fast to avoid it and I ended up wiping out really badly. I hope I see that punk around again someday, I really do...

EiZei 0 Posted April 24, 2004 Can't be arsed to get a driving license. 1000-1500e for the license itself + quite a bit of other bureaucratic fees. I have trained a bit with Volvo 745 Turbo -89 and Toyota Hiace -03 Diesel, the latter was much much easier to drive for some reason.

toadlife 3 Posted April 24, 2004 Can't be arsed to get a driving license. 1000-1500e for the license itself + quite a bit of other bureaucratic fees. Dunno what '1000e' is but I payed $12.00 for my license when I was 18. My first car was a 75' Honda Civic... Thats not a picture of mine, but mine was that exact model - same color just a bit more faded. It must have weighed a whole 300 pounds and the engine was so worn, it had a top speed of about 75, but I loved that peice of crap. It had about 230,000 miles on it when I got it and every major part on it was stock. The clutch was so worn, I had to bury my foot in the floorboard just to get the thing into 1st gear. The carbuerator eventualy went bad (a $50.00 job to fix) and I dumped the car on some guy for 100 bucks, because my mother "gave" me this.... ...I later paid her $5000.00 for it when I had the money. It a 94' Ford Ranger XLT - 4.0L V6. I love this one too. Probably end up buying another Ranger after I drive this one into the ground - 10 more years should do it. And then there is the wifes car. I bought this 91 Honda for her to drive to school in. It's lowered an inch or two, and really fun to drive. It only a four-banger, but Honda's little engines have a superb size/power ratio. I've gotten it up to 122MPH on the backroads.

Hehe....just a wee bit more costly to take the driving license in Norway. Try 15 000 to 25 000 instead  And it's hard to forget how expensive cars are here too. A few examples: Golf 1.6 Highline - USD 36223 Jeep Cherokee  - USD 67613 My Alfa Romeo  - USD 47474 Even though the norwegian salaries are comparatively higher in Norway it's still bloody expensive  Picture of my car:
mr burns 132 Posted April 24, 2004 nice topic. i like alot of the american oldschool cars, the camaro or that nice 71´ holden monaro for example. here´s what i drive: little difference: mine being black colored, more dirty and looking like it should after 176.000 km. tried to find a pic of my own but i fear it´s lost. i like the pic so much because it was kinda expensive, 20 € for 20 km/H speeding

Acro 0 Posted April 24, 2004 I got my driving license 2 months ago. Costed about 1500€ and it included the truck driving license too. Then I bought my first car: Nissan Sunny 1.6 LX '87 Costed 250 €
ozanzac 0 Posted April 24, 2004 To make use of a Double post. Fubar, don't get a bedford, unless your willing to give all those fuel additives products a go. LRP is not healthy for cars. That is not a myth. The valves and valvesprings go to buggery because of insufficient lubrication and when they go, so does your car.

Just to avoid some misconceptions, that 1000-1500 euros include driving lessons, exams and so forth. And just like my profile says, I live in Finland. Ouch! I think I payed $21 for my learners permit. Practiced on the road in the family car for a few months. Then got my probationary licence (which I'm still on) via a single driving test (without 'profesional' lessons) for whatever that cost, $25, give or take 5. And that was that for the car licence, so all up, about $46 au. So all up, total cost of my car licence was 28.43 euro. It'd probably be cheaper for you to get your licence on holiday whilist overseas. I know that's what the german exchange student did. I have a 1979 Holden HZ Premier Wagon with a worked 5.0L V8 and a few other 'go-fast' bits. Unfortunatly, I can't afford to run it, and I refuse to run it on LRP (Lead Replacement Petrol), so it's in the shed, waiting to be sold and replaced by a 1988 R31 Nissan Skyline Silhouette which I'm in the market for as we speak. Oldish car, yes. But damn near bulletproof engine, and they go like clackers, thanks to Nissan engineering philosophy. Currently, I daily drive the parents second car, a 2001 VX Holden Commodore Wagon. Indecisive auto transmission gives me the shits, but it's suprisingly agile for such a large car, and gutsy enough to get me through the traffic light grand prix without hassle. I have had numerous paddock bashers. Favourite being a roll caged, near rally ready Ford Escort MkII. Many memories from that car. So so much fun. It flew.......Well, at least I got it airborne on numerous occasions.    But sadly, like most of the other bashers. I ran it till it would run no more, and they were hardly ever worth fixing up. And let the wreckers deal with them, usually using the money that they gave us for them to help pay for a new basher. I've had quite a few bikes too. Nothing too modern, or memorable. A PeeWee 50, 80cc Kwaka (my favourite), old Suzuki 125 and a sole 250, which is the only bike I have anymore: a 1986 Yamaha XT250 trailee. It was dads, but he gave it too me as my 'road learning bike', because I was tempted in buying a new Honda NSR SP or something similar. If it weren't for the Probationary 250cc laws, I'd get a used KTM 620SC or  ZX7R Ninja, as even good bikes are cheap down here and within the price range of a lowly student.
