Assault (CAN) 1 Posted March 15, 2003 Student + Part time job + other commitments = 1992 Pontiac Grand-Am that I bought cheap off of my mom. Dark Red, two door, 3 speed automatic, 3.4L V6 engine, 156,000 km. The speedometer goes to 200k/hr but I have only taken it to 170k/hr, but mind you it was a short and narrow country road and I was running out of space, and it felt like the car was going to lift off the ground. All of that done while Static-X was playing on the radio. I looks sort of like this but my car is more of a dark red. Tyler
Guest BratZ Posted March 15, 2003 36 years old and a bodyman for 17 years ,I've had lots of cars and dirtbikes. First car was a 72 Ford Bronco with a lift kit,I've had about 25 Subarus ,3 were Brats and currently drive a Legacy AWD Wagon and I live in Northern Vermont and its wicked cold and icy outside.I've owned 3 S10 Blazers and a few Camaros and even an old Monza with a 350. Last year I also had a 1988 Model 90 Quattro that was immaculate and a 1998 Suzuki DR650se On/Off road bike.

I've really got no clue.  He graduated in 1972 just to give you a timeframe.<span id='postcolor'> You do have a clue! The spider designation was first used in 1954/5 with the model Giulietta Spider. This is by many considered to be the most beautyful of all Alfa spiders - including the next modell in line the Duetto Spider which I'm sure you remember from the film "The graduate" with Dustin Hoffman. In England -the most important marketplace for classic cars - this (Duetto) is also called "Boat tail Spider". There are also Guilia Spiders. The more upscale models of the spiders (also coupe models) were called "Veloce Spider/Coupe" like this "Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce Spider". As the Italians are infamous - like the french - for their logic, the different designations are not always coherent. Some models are called "Pininfarina Spider" (the earlier modells were designed by Bertone) and some - because of larger engine - are called "Spider 2000". All spiders - except the ones made in the 80's are very nice cars - they handle well and are sufficiently quick. Mind you, if you are tempted to buy one you are well adviced to look out for corrosion - and you really ought to stay away from the 80's modells - they are incredibly ugly because of big black plastic bumpers (made to comply with the US regulations). So - in short - your father had a "Spider"

I'm considering a car as well but bike is cheaper, more fun and easier to park. However, the first car I'll buy will not be a very sporting one - I'm thinking of a used Land-Rover or something like that. By the way - you should stay with the Alfa's and forget about the BMW's - latin "temparemento" is a lot more exciting than the teutonic "tidyness".

Also, every time you had to repair something they had to bring the parts from France, and it consumed too much fuel. The BMW we have now is a lot better. Most people in Europe have a different approach to driving fast. Small cars with low weight and nimble handling on B-roads makes more sense than big heavy powerfull musclecars. If you want to drive fast over here you go for what we call a GT car like Golf GTI, Seat Leon Cupra etc.

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted March 15, 2003 I had all sorts of cars but mainly the boring german sort of cars...small cheap and safe like Golf and Polo and so... But in Thailand I had a super powered machine that looked simillar to that one... No kidding they tuned it up to 110 Km/h for me...which in Thailand is like signing the last will. the bumps in the roads there are not ordinary bumps..they are volcano craters...still I survived and I discovered the most beautiful beaches with it that I have ever seen in my life and probably will ever see..untill I return and will become GM of my own Resort Hotel

If I were to total the car somehow, I could lose lots of money depending on how the drivetrain and electronics survive... so far so good.
