Shadow NX 1 Posted June 21, 2004 A lil update Here you see the famous GRU Spetsnaz in Gorka Suits The pack is basicly done, now we focus on finishing the weapon pack and giving the units some special features P.S come on mappers, you get to use these units
AKM 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Not to nitpick, that looks like GORKA-R to me, from the "Colour Patch" on the olive drab. And damn your super computer to hell! Those look impossibly good. Great work man. The AK's... Um. Either the magazine is too far back or the ejection port & Bolt are too far forward, because they should be close to right over and under each other. As you said, in-progress. Perhaps you could think about making a version of the GRU in GORKA-R with the hood up; perhaps the sniper?
jotte 0 Posted June 21, 2004 WOW! Excellent!! That looks like those mountain troop uniforms I've seen pictures of from early 80's or something. Is this a development of those?
Shadow NX 1 Posted June 21, 2004 These so called Gorka suits been in use since a long time now. We use a new version called Gorka-R

jotte 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Ah I checked out that combat gear site and it seems like it indeed is the same type of uniform. How did you guys decide to do with the backpacks (static vs removable)? I remember it was discuessed sometime ago but not what your decission was.

jotte 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Excellent! I'll shut up now.
Shadow NX 1 Posted June 21, 2004 Well on the infantry they are removeable atm, on the GRU im not sure since they most time are on deep recon missions and stuff where they need it. The removeable backpacks also interfere with some anims, when you lay down it clips a bit into the head for exaple, the FDF backpacks had the same prob. jotte 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Oh look what you've made me do, break my promise I'm not sure of Russian doctrines but as far as I'm aware the common doctrines are to make patrol bases / backpack hides where you leave all the more heavy stuff when you perform strikes, close target recons, ambushes etc. Though it is not uncommon to take smaller backpacks, roughly up to 25-30 Liters, during these missions (like the side pockets on a Berghaus Vulcan for instance) And removeble backpacks gives more variety to the unit looks. I personally prefer that over the very slight clipping problems. And if they could be made to secondary weapon slots compatible with the FDF mod I'd be even more happy. GoOB 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Doing a little bit of advertising for Nike in that last pic. "Nike, when you can't run fast enough no matter what" Looking good guys, I hope FDFMOD will adopt your units as their official OPFOR :P
AKM 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Try selling that to MikoV. We'll all buy you a round if that goes through. Quote[/b] ]That looks like those mountain troop uniforms I've seen pictures of from early 80's or something. Is this a development of those? Yes, Gorka is the evolution of the Mountain Troops uniform. The newer version is known as GORKA-R. The GRU Spetsnaz have both "Lesnaya" M-21 type fatigues and Olive-Drab GORKA-R uniforms. Looking good thus far. As you said earlier; you checked RCG. Good. Buy from RCG. It's all new. It's all quality. It's all worth it. Back ontopic: Looking great. Weapons look a little off, but I suspect they're a beta. Brilliant work thus far.
Kakarotto 0 Posted June 21, 2004 As was said the ejection port is a little too far forward. Other than that this is a top notch addon. We need some good Russia vs Chechen rebel missions to use them on!
soul_assassin 1750 Posted June 21, 2004 We were already negotiating with Mikko about it and agreed for us to hand them over but Mikko really needs to get on MSN more often As he just dissapeared as we are ready to give them to try it out.

Acro 0 Posted June 21, 2004 These units look good. I'd be happy to see these in FDFmod but I can live without too. Separate addon is coming for sure, you know.

Hmm ok... Try our email fdfmod@mbnet.fi or join our IRC channel #finmod at Quakenet. That email address should be used for negotiating all "resource exchange deals". It's not good idea to PM any of us here. If it really has to be MSN, shout to me (ts@surkimukset.net) and I'll harass MikkoV log in to MSN.
