The Wrecking Crew

The Wrecking Crew is a realism group that prides itself in its dedication to realistic and enjoyable game play, without the rigid aspects like permanent ranks and having to shout "Yes, sir" at a 14 year old. While we play mostly as British Forces to make coherent training possible, we have a whole host of players who come from all over the world, some as far out as Malaysia and South Africa. You select the role you'd like each week for our editor-driven operations, as long as you are competent and prove yourself by passing the required training sessions for that role, with some not requiring any. This allows you to vary from leading a platoon one week to driving a tank the next. The freedom to experience so many different types of game play without hindrance on the co-operation & enjoyability is something you will struggle to find in most other ArmA groups.

Public Server

If you would like to experience first hand what it's like to play with TWC, come join us on our public server. It runs different dynamic game modes made entirely in-house with a more relaxed game play than in our operations, but it will still give you a good insight in the community and play style. You don't need to sign up to participate on our public server, just the mods and to connect to our TeamSpeak server. We've created an easy to follow guide on how to get connected here.

About our Operations

Alongside a public server that runs 24/7, the biggest event our group hosts are weekly 'Operations' with between 20 to 40 people. As well as the occasional 'Joint Operation' with other groups which have encompassed up to 70 people total.

Our operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you can liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in the plains of Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents. In these operations any recruit or member can play any role as long as he has received the corresponding training.

In our operations we strive for maximum realism. We find real-life solutions for problems that we may face in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like saluting, hour-long marches and range etiquette. We aim for the most immersive experience possible by having minimal HUD, first person only, a single life and using ACRE 2 for communications. Our operations take place on Saturday at 18:30 (UK time) and can last up to four hours or more.

To begin with, Operation WRIGLEY our WW2 era operation was a resounding success, more images/videos can be found here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/198858/topic/wrigley-pictures-and-videos-421

After that, we had a Mid-Week Operation for Halloween. Operation UMBRELLA. We successfully contained the threat for another year, more images/videos can be found here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/198858/topic/umbrella-pictures-and-videos-zeu

Most recently we had Operation DEDWEN, a Modern Mechanised operation, that saw us establish a new touch off point in the campaign for control over the region. More images/pictures can be found here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/198858/topic/dedwen-pictures-and-videos-i8n

Operation SPECTRE concluded on the 10th of this month, seeing British resources safely escorted to a vital base in one of the many Scottish Isles. Fortunately this platoon was also on hand to offer QRF for a Soviet invasion. You can check out more images of this operation here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/198858/topic/spectre-pictures-and-videos-2r3

Operation NUTHATCH concluded on the 13th of November, one of our mid-week mini-operations. This saw us destroy a small local IRA weapons cache, as well as test out changes to our internal framework. More images can be found here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/198858/topic/nuthatch-pictures-and-videos-5kj

On the 17th of November we saw action in the 90s. Things got quite desperate in this operation due to severe platoon ammunition attrition, resulting in some tense but really fun scenarios. These are just snaps of our operations, in between them we enjoy many sessions on our public server - with those that aren't part of the group, too. Come check us out, if you'd like to give it a try!

A lot has happened since last time I posted. We've had some fantastic public server experiences, as well as six very successful operations! We've got a chock-a-block Christmas event schedule upcoming too. We have three operations the week between Christmas Day and New Years, as well as numerous small public server events planned. These are more casual than usual, and have some quirky mechanics to them to keep in the festive spirit.

Here's some images from the past operations this last month, if you'd like to see more, you can view all images shared by our community here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/board/198858

We've been so busy recently, I haven't had a chance to keep this thread up to date. Where to start?

Well, we've just released our first mod on to the workshop. A 2 inch mortar, which you can find here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1670017422  - We have many more mods in the works, ranging from WW2 till Modern, with various quality of life improvements we currently utilise or plan on doing so in the future. We are in need of an animator, any help would be awesome!

We've had 15 operations since I last posted. The most notable being our joint operations with our friends over at 1QDG. The first being a CO-OP event, amount to a company operation incorporating an armoured troop, an infantry platoon, company command with a CSM, Chinook and 2x ground attack aircraft. We also had an adversarial TvT/Roleplay event. Both were incredibly successful, and we're planning for further adventures together in the future. If you're a community that's interested in playing with/against us, give us a shout!

Here's some select pictures from our operations in the last 3 months. You can view more of them here: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/board/198858

Work on our community created Cold War British vehicles pack has gone into full swing, and as such haven't had the time to post here much. We're planning to release the pack with a Chieftain MBT, Scorpion, Scimitar, Wessex, Jaguar, LAW 80 and some misc accompanying assets, plus more planned for the future. Here's the current state of the Chieftain model, before texturing, as taste of things to come:

We'll make a mod post announcing it more in depth once we've got something more substantial to show than some mid-textured/modelled objects. If you're keen in following just the mod that will be released publicly, you can join our Discord where we've been discussing and sharing updates.

In other news, we've had some fantastic operations recently, including mid-weeks. Such as the one yesterday, Operation KRATOS, that saw some British Cold War infantry conduct an extensive combat patrol. Operation HIGHGARDEN last Saturday saw the platoon take 3 sections and a HMG attachment out to hit some key Russian positions in a mission made by our community member, Nazgul.
