halkrath 1 Posted December 2, 2006 I pray that you never have to go to war. Idiot. "Honouring" with a computer game. FFS. I'm sorry, I don't seem to understand the 'Idiocy' implied by you in the statment I made. Of course what I said is left to your own interpretation. But I was simply implying that it would be fitting to place something on the island that would show a mark of respect for the actual conflict and seeing that it is the 25th anniversary next year and this mod is trying to recreat the conflict virtually, we should be reminded that even though it is a game, REAL people lost their lives. BAS achieved this in their Addons, namely the PAVEHAWK and the inscription inside one of their bird's dedicating it to the memory of fallen Parajumpers. Since the mod is based on a real confict, surely it's only right that the mod pays a mark of respect to those who did die in the conflict and those that are suffering as a result of it. I was trying to be respectful, I guess that concept is simply lost in these forums sometimes. I understand your point. My guess is, their respect being paid is by re-creating the conflict as it was, it is honor alone, for those who fought in that conflict.
Squadron 0 Posted December 8, 2006 As an ex-soldier who has lost mates (very few thankfully) during conflict, I think Tankieboy's point is that this is a computer game...... Not really a way of paying tribute to the dead. And maybe a tad insulting to say it is, just a humble ex-serviceman's point of view so take it as you wish. OFP or ArmA I'll be chuffed when FLK pops their kit out, been perving over there screenshots for such a long time! Keep up the good work lads! (<<<<quite a smug smiley) lol And corky.... there's no honour in war. Sorry to disapoint you mate.
halkrath 1 Posted December 8, 2006 I understand your opinion Squadron. And you are correct, There is no honor in war, But there is honor in remembering those who have fought and/or lost their life, for their country. That is what I had ment. Sorry I worded it wrong. P.S. I have also been perving over the FLK screenies since the mod started. Can't wait for the release either.
cbfasi 4 Posted December 8, 2006 Little update.. Ok these pictures dont exactly show anything new but hey do show that on a relatively old machine that flk terrains arent too bad... They do however give a slight hint to the nature of the terrain that was predominantly fought over by foot! These pics also give an idea what work is still to be done at the main settlement with a number of temporay (pink or yellow) buildings. Even the partially built Moody brook is visable. Our biggest problem is people to finish the terrains off which include making and re-texturing a number of buildings. Machine is a AMD 1800 running at 1500mhz, with a geforce 6600 and 1 gb Ram, terrain set to normal and vis distance to 5000m Most these files are just over 100k each so most just links... http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3218.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3219.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3220.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3221.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3222.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3223.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3224.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3225.jpg http://www.cbfasi.co.uk/picsfalk/OFP3226.jpg And yes we are still planning an OFP release!! cbfasi 4 Posted December 10, 2006 Just a few bits of maths.... The 6 Falklands Maps occupy an total area of around 2000 sq km With around 1100 sq km of land between them. AND most of this was crossed by foot..

Wittmann 0 Posted December 14, 2006 I have ArmA and still looking forward to countless hours with this mod Now all we need is a vulcan bomber to bomb the airfield...
Duke 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Once this mod is released I don't think I'll have an interest with ArmA. I have been watching the progress of this mod since it's birth. I have been on and off the forums, (due to work sometimes and College). I am excited for the release. I have wanted 1980's era British Addons since OFP came out, finally my dream will be true, but not just with addons, a whole new campaign in OFP. Finally something that perfectly fits my taste in this Game.
