Arma 2 Mi-8/Mi-17 Port

Recommended Posts

yeah well when you say standard, we researched a lot of variants

check my spreadsheet here

http://www.gitsarma.gamingdeluxe.net/projects/FRL_Air/plane_loadouts_stock6.xlsx

the mi8/17 tab has a lot of info on the variants

we refined it down to a group of 6 types.

the main thing BIS didn't do, which could be done with standard models:

early and modern variants (has (M) in our list),

domestic mi8 and export mi17

AT-2, AT-3 (export)

AT-6 on later variants

AT-9 on even later variants

gunpods (we made these so not really viable with stock models) - GUV, GUV AGS, SPPU22

S5 rockets UB32 / UB16

S8 rockets UB8

Fab250 bombs

gun-wise we added a 50 cal Afanesev 12.7 into the nose - not in the release yet - as one of our guys used to fly these and suggested the change

the most modern attack variant has 4 wing stubs

the earlier models have up to 12 - 3 on top for AT-2/3 and 3 on bottom for rockets, pods and bombs

if you have A2 you can download our mod here and check out some of the models in the demo mission

you wouldn't want to go mental like we did (48 variants i think, 72 hinds etc) but a few variants might be cool.

That is a lot of versions lol.

I'll see what i can come up with, i'm not going to do 48 different variants but maybe 3 or 4 more i guess are doable.

yeah no worries. with all your ports if you look through some of the rangemaster work we've done, feel free to borrow inspiration from it in A3. variety is the spice of life. our research may save you some time basically.

It requires some modeling and texturing, so it certainly is not going to be done in the near future.

Maybe in the next couple of days i might get to finish the Hind, i still have to do the weapons config which is always the most boring and tedious part.

Ohally managed to get permission to use the CH-146 Griffon from Take on Helicopters in the Canadian Armed Forces mod. It could be worth a try to get permission to use the Super Hind that was seen in Take on Helicopters Hind DLC.

Try and give DnA a PM. I believe DnA is the Take On Helicopters Project Leader.

---------- Post added at 22:59 ---------- Previous post was at 22:57 ----------

You sure he didn't just port the unbinarised model that was provided in the ToH Samples package?

https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Take_On_Helicopters:_Samples

Oh yeah I forgot TKOH had sample files released, I think you might be correct. Still though its worth a try.
