Well gents, I'll keep my focus on the C-130 for now. I'll help out with those textures. First for the C-130, then for the other airframes.

Hope to see the new models implemented soon. However, let's make those new models as error free and polished as possible.

For the all the C-130s I would advise the following;

- Complete and proper texture; without those pesky mirrored textures.. (I'll get you the imagery )

- Overhauled sound model; the current audio is based on a bloody radial engine.. (Just listen to those cilinders popping).

- Proper working gear; the landing and takeoffs still sometimes injure the onboard personnel.

- A working para script; working red/green light system.

- Animations for the crew when getting in/getting out. (The interior model is all there, so that would defenitely be an option). Also it would be nice to have the pilot with HOTAS animation.

- Additional animations for the airframe, such as the flag option.. perhaps remove-before-flight tags when engines are shut down.

- Functional head-up-display. The current one is not working - perhaps we can get a more realistic version with ASL/AGL readings.

- Perhaps compatibility with the John Paul & Spartan service menu; allowing multiple skins to be chosen.

Hello. Are there any plans for conjectural planes such as the F-19? I know the plane does not exist in reality, but hell, when did this ever stop a good modder community?

The plane design is based on 1986's Testors model (the most sold hobby kit ever, according to some sources) and the subsequent 1988 best seller simulation with the same name by Sid Meier. This design is cool because it can be used both in old school Cold War missions, but also in future ones. The looks of this bird are really very flexible and there are not many stealth fighters in the game anyway.

Actually, because the aircraft was never created, it could be easier for the potential modder to adapt it the way he believes it's better. There are tons of images and modeling approaches online and, frankly, it looks so much better than the F-117A. :)

Well Kensai, great idea, but I think the USAF mod is busy enough with the multitude of models already. As for the F-19, that is a fictional aircraft (as far as open-source information goes), and does not constitute a current airframe in use with the USAF.

I would argue that apart from whether the USAF team should go into making the F-19, the model is not really suitable for the ArmA III environment -as the simulator focusses mostly on ground forces. Transport and CAS are the main topics for flight assets in the game, mostly due to the size of maps. A/A is a nice sidestep, but it doesn't really work too well due to a lack of AI capability and fixed wing physic models. If you are seeking all out stealth air-to-air warfare, take a F-22 to the sky in one of the Falcon 4 spinoffs..

But that's just my two cents..

Your remarks are valid, I must admit. However, my suggestion for the F-19 was not made by chance. It is mainly a ground attack aircraft and it is very slow. It doesn't even have its own radar! The fact that it is a fictional plane actually allows the modders extensive liberty on how to interpret it (apart from its most prominent outside looks, I guess) and this may speed up design and rendering. Nobody can possibly complain if something is not "in its right place" as there is no real equivalent. I link here the what if stats (from the manual of the old Sid Meier simulation).

Of course this model should be low priority for the USAF team, but given its versatile uses it might be cool to have. Anyway, just think about it! :)

I remember reading that old Tom Clancy book Red Storm Rising where they talked about it as a secret weapon against the Soviet ground invasion and they'd use it to blow up airfields and stuff. But as far as we know it hasn't been used in real life, and probably isn't used right now (we have newer stealth craft out and about.)

Yes, it was a conjecture plane. Everyone thought it was real and then they presented the F-117! The story is really fascinating, in fact back when Sid Meier's simulation came out (which I have in original), they even slipped a "news flash" piece of paper where they explained how MicroProse got the whole game going and how close they were with the real thing. As I said previously, the fact that this bird has never existed is an advantage from a modder's point of view. He could design its capabilities as he pleases, without fear of ruining it for the purists. Since this mod already has the F-22, the F-19 could be easier and more appropriate for Arma3!

Not to sound like an ass but asking for updates is not all toó well seen. If you take on the tough job of going a couple of pares back you'll see what's in the works ;)

Apologies. I just wanted to bump the thread and make the developers feel their work is appreciated and followed. Of course I understand it's a very hard work to deliver a quality mod. :)

Small update on the CV22:

  • The aircraft is now far more maneuverable in Helicopter mode.
  • The cockpit has been fixed as it had a few bugs.
  • HMD's have been moved around as seen in my previous post.
  • Sling loading sadly won't be coming to the V-22 anytime soon as there seems to be no way to implement it to a vehicle that inherits the class Plane.
  • Crew door is usable now, you have to crouch to enter though.
  • Fuel probe shadow and Geometry Lods have been fixed and now retract with the probe.
  • Collision Lights are no longer a strobe party for passengers inside the V-22

If you would like to see sling loading for the V-22 then please upvote this feedback ticket as I think its only something the devs can fix, not sure though as there could be a work around I'm not aware of. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21623

I don't really have any visual updates on it tbh, what would an update be without a decent image though right?

The problem is that only 5 sights are working when I play with this mod: only ACO (green and red), ARCO, Holosight and RCO appear at Virtual Arsenal, and the rest DO appear in Virtual Ammobox, but if I try to take or straightly equip them, they just don't appear anywere.

I use this custom modlist, but I "debugged" (just tried disabling/enabled mod by mod) and USAF turned to be the one causing the problem: if using the other 21 mods of the list, the problem is not present (and if only using USAF, the problem IS present

Hi, love this mod but I am also getting this issue that I quoted above. I am using alive and USAF in my mod list for my custom mission. It seems to cause an issue with virtual arsenal and I also can't attach items to my player. Hope that it's an easy fix.

Kind regards

Ahhh what a tease! And I hope those babies have some functionality on their cockpit (some mfd functions and gauges working, don´t need to be all as it is alpha, but some would be nice...)

BTW, randomslap, you could tease us more with some cockpit shots!

cheers!

I have a script for the DAS system for the F35. Kimi will be working with me on the HUD. For the cockpits, they are WIP, but almost done. Expect a picture of the F22 soon. The F35's cockpit was already posted here

BTW, the F35B Lightning II will be released in a different thread as it does not belong in the USAF. Although, if we make a USMC pack, the F35B will transfer there, but we have no plans on making a USMC pack. We are planning to do a small US Army pack, then a US Navy for John and Saul's new aircraft carrier. Things may change in the future, so don't get your hopes up yet.

Oh Yeah, Kimi is part of the team, indeed, the HMDs will be awesome on all fighters, and BTW, I was hoping to see a Viper (F-16) cockpit screen-tease lol

And the F-35A will be part of this pack, as it is the USAF model (before anyone else gets confused and ask), right?

cheers and keep up the great work!

The F16 cockpit is being worked on by fuller, but he is currently having family issues. The F35A will come later on. Probably after the release the F35B.

hey guys.

I was just wondering where you get the class names for the weapons addon?

is their an included text file? or do you have to find them in game?
