Kommiekat 11 Posted April 8, 2014 Very happy about the hard work you guys have done. We have a campaign that is waiting for release, but we have to test it out when 2.6 comes out. One thing I noticed with all the sneak pics................no Opfor kicking some G.I. ass in, as they historically did. Well, looks like our campaign will pick up on that....................................................................................
eggbeast 3673 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) we don't have time to take pics when that's happening, which is frequently... also, with my missions we know what strategies to adopt. e.g. SEAD hunters hit the new zone from distance long before any helis show up, just flying in in a cobra or huey will get you killed before you can say "taking fire!" we use tanks and ACAV's to push through the forest with trucks following on the new trail when near the zone we hack out a clearing/ LZ, make FARP, MASH and Field HQ (respawn point) then move in on foot - we stick together in a tight group and move carefully when under contact we describe it quickly and accurately "infantry, 80 degrees, 40m, moving left to right" then we all hit dirt, get a tree/rock to hide behind. everyone starts saying "frag out, long" and "frag left short" etc as we plaster the enemy in grenades some prophylactic fire follows, possibly supported by the ACAV or M48 in the rear, or maybe mortars or M102's, or if it's too intense maybe we get on the horn and call in air support. this way we only get killed on a 10:1 k/d ratio. but then we've been playing like this for 5 years... we still get overrun and it comes down to bayonets and knives and sidearms, or crawling away bleeding through the bush... having called a napalm wash on the whole goddamn area... it will be interesting to see how public handle the Evo missions when released. playing in the dark using only moonlight and the odd flashlight or flaregun sure takes some nerve. A lot of our guys have graduated from the Evo school of night ops these past few weeks. they can now operate deep in enemy territory without eyes using only ears, a silenced m1911, scavenged satchels and a knife... i'm looking forward to playing your campaign too man, we'll set you up with the mod and classnames as soon as we can (beta). eggbeast 3673 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) anyone from arma3 wanting to play vietnam with us should grab this deal man https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-games arma2 combined ops for a fiver! sweeeeeeeeet be sure to grab all the DLC too as we use ACR as a parent class for some stuff, either that or be sure to install ACR lite the free DLC, but when ACR is only $2 you'd be mad to play with low res textures... http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=17321 Edited April 11, 2014 by eggbeast

eggbeast 3673 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) here's some pics of our battle in Ia Drang Valley last night - location is just south of LZ X-ray, heading west into the rapidly darkening ominous valley - the bit where the NVA were holed up, that the US troops didn't manage to get to last time. setting up a fortified OP/ LZ calling nape on LX X-ray to the north as it was overrun it's all quiet as we move into the valley itself (but nor for long!) shortly after this we had a massive 180 degree firefight with NVA recon troops pushing through our flanks after an hour of heavy fighting we managed to secure the mouth of the valley. as we crept into the valley proper, Crusader said "Rob, stop man, is that a tank on your right?" I froze, looked right through parted grass, and could see an ominously dark bush sitting right there 15 feet away. "is it?" I asked, "ok i'm backing up...". No sooner had i started to crawl backwards, all the while keeping my eyes glued to the bushy lump when a wash of flaming petrol spewed all over me... OT34 darn! and if you missed it before here's the vids of the full battle of Ia Drang Valley (not us) lB0jhKoBXvs il_XN3xySAA and the real battle (not for minors) dZ24JupfJYI Edited April 11, 2014 by eggbeast
eggbeast 3673 Posted April 11, 2014 ok so the FOB was overrun this morning in a local VC counterattack - i crept out of the wire to take em down but they had other ideas finished up climbing the "cowards folly" at the south end of the FOB - our "keep" until relieved by gunships

Wiki 1558 Posted April 16, 2014 who is working on the campaign/sp missions planned with the release of 2.6?
von knudenberg 0 Posted April 18, 2014 As far as I know, Kommiekat and nettrucker have been working on a campaign, which will be released alongside with the 2.6: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?167921-The-Unsung-Vietnam-War-Mod-V-2-6-Release&p=2630968&viewfull=1#post2630968 I'm also preparing a campaign, but it will be released later on. Currently I'm finishing rest of the Unsung stuff for 2.6, including water buffalos, tunnel complex and radios to name a few.
Kommiekat 11 Posted April 19, 2014 Don't forget this as well, if you have any older missions, they all have to be updated in classnames for 2.6 when it's officially released. I assume that will take some work.
ruin 10 Posted April 21, 2014 Hello, can i somehow add jsrs sounds to this addon? I really miss the bullet cracking sounds and the AK shooting sound...
eggbeast 3673 Posted April 21, 2014 do you mean for 2.5 that was released? or for the new 2.6 which has not been released? if for 2.5 you would need to edit your jsrs to include the uns_ak47 and various derivatives like the uns_ct56 and so on - there are about 7 of them. if you get 2.6 when released and want to do this, you would need to edit your jsrs config to include our new ak base class, but i think as we have added sounds to every fire mode, you would need to patiently reconstruct the inheritance and modes for the weapons and add in the new sounds. it's a LOT of detailed work for not much benefit imo. btw we changed the sounds a lot in uns 2.6 so maybe wait to try this first before embarking on a 2 day configging spree.
