Jex 1 Posted April 24, 2013 Hey guys,At the moment I am on the fence about getting ARMA 3. I am a battlefield 3 veteran and am interested in trying something new, but I am not sure that that new thing should be ARMA 3. So, convince me as to why ARMA 3 is worth my $30 and why I might have fun. Go go go! The best games I've had with Arma are COOP missions that I play with my friends. Arma allows you to completely brief your mission before you get into it by being as long or as short as you like. So we will look at the map, look at the objectives and then decide on your ingress and egress routes. With ACRE and ACE mods, the game takes on a whole new aspect of realism so once your ingame, you hear your mates positionally to where you are and the radio is brilliant. COOP missions are challenging and make you feel like your more in a mission i suppose than PVP where the enemy know you are coming and where from (generally). There aren't many games you can play cooperatively with your friends. There are clans/groups you can join to hook up for COOP and TVT game play (Shack Tactical is probably the biggest). Arma 3 will offer this and more in time, but it's still Alpha remember so don't expect much for the rest of the year maybe but it's cheap now so think of it as buying a seed and growing a tree. EDcase 87 Posted April 24, 2013 Check out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-21266669 From 00:35 That shows the military training version of ARMA called VBS2 (Virtual Battle Space) So you know that ARMA3 is based on realism. I advise to buy Alpha now and have a go to get used to it a bit. Its VERY rough at the moment so maybe wait until the Beta comes out to avoid the current problems. NeuroFunker 11 Posted April 24, 2013 First of all, arma isn't a shooter. It's a simulator with shooting elements. If you'r tired of unrealistic, fast placed shooter like BF, then ArmA 3 is what you need. I'm ofp/arma fan, been playing bf3 for a bit as exchange, and it only made me annoyed, and tired of all this constant non stop action (which might be not all to bad). But after i did play arma, it was like a deep fresh breathe. If you can imagine yourself, sometimes walking kilometers without much happening, and then being killed by someone from unknown position, you might love arma. I think is perfectly balanced between action/non action gameplay. What also differs arma series from BF, tons of various missions. From small DM, to huge warfare missions, where you have to conquer the island, all it's cities. Or maybe you want GTA like missions, where you have to work for money, legally or illegal, or work as a cop. Or maybe to have a nice coop evening with your friends. Or scavenge for weapons/food/transport in wasteland. There is really a lot to choose from.

Smurf 12 Posted April 24, 2013 Buy it or... :) Nah. It's a great game, right now it is very cheap and it only get better with time because of mods\missions\always working devs. And it has a piece for everyone: SP only, MP Coop or TvT\PvP only, modders\scripters, photo takers\machinima makers and people that just shoot\fly\drive things with no objective at all in the editor while having fun. viper[cww] 14 Posted April 24, 2013 dont buy until they fix ALL the issues. i made the mistake of paying for an alpha. Mr. CaDiLLaC, what you've just said... viper[cww] 14 Posted April 24, 2013 viper the fanboy.... lol... You paid for an Alpha, if you were expecting a fully polished game you should have waited and then paid the extra $ it would of cost, quit complaining and start bug hunting. did yee miss the irony!!? (like hackers controlling every un passworded server , to the very poor optimization that has been an issue since arma 2) . this engine is the same and i think they rushed out arma 3 hoping to rake in the money from all the day z players, before the standalone is released. (where the real $ came from and sales) i think the alpha should have been free . especially since it came with no online AC for mp.

Close to three years in development then halting full development because of DayZ (and other issues) and missing two release dates is not rushing it out. The engine is completely updated to the standards seen in ToH, the game is in very early alpha stage, in purchasing the alpha you are becoming an off-site tester. The game has no security implemented at all, and is using some of if not all of ToH network code. Not sure if ToH is rife with hackers, try and play a game that has some popularity, you will always come across hackers. Also the engine is not the same at all. A2/OA used the Real Virtuality 3 engine, A3 uses the Real Virtuality 4 engine. Aliens Colonial Marines was in development for over six years, and was still garbage, would you call that rushed out as well? Perhaps you should move away from the wasteland scene and you'll see less script kiddies ruining the game for you. This game will always have bugs, you can either love it or hate it. Masharra 10 Posted April 25, 2013 Most "trolls" Ive encountered do not actually speak like that and quite honestly I havent seen a name like that in quite some time. Perhaps years but at the very least months. Ive encountered less youngun McScreechyvoice "trolls" versus fully grown "This is how it is going to be"25+yr old "trolls". Jumbify 10 Posted April 25, 2013 Whelp, Thanks guys for the thoughtful discussion - I think I am convinced now. Anyways, a Mod deleted my humorous jab at some of you... so here it is (read at your own risk, may cause seizures.) Let's take a different route - why don't you tell us more about yourself (yes I've read your 2nd post in this topic), and we'll see if we want you playing our game Well my gamer tag is xXxl33tSnip3rYOLO360noSCOPEpwnerSWAGxXx if that helps... You should also know that your mom is great in bed. And you are automatically a looser d*ck head if you kill me EVER, but you obliviously are a hacker when that happens. And I have been told my voice sounds like a golden chalkboard with heavenly nails screeching down it. WHEN I GET THIS GAME IM GONNA PWN YOU NOOBS SO HARD YOU WOULD WISH YOU WERENT BORN! #yolo #swag #pimp13yearold #l33tsniper #hashtagsareamazing Peace out NUBS! I can be considered the opposite of above. I already made myself a 3D head tracking setup - its a crime that they charge you $100+ when you can do it yourself for less then $10-$50.
