New STEAM patch update 25th March 2013

Recommended Posts

Stop whining. You should be using the DEV version anyway! What is the point of an alpha is you arent even going to test!

Regarding performance the DEV version is perfect. 12k VD on empty Stratis at 47FPS. I'd call that pretty decent !

Once again, that's perfect for you. That statement is subjective in relation to your system. What are your system specs?

Since the latest patch I'm getting 2 errors that crash the game: No Entry 'config-fpp/CfgVideoOptions/ShadowQuality/Disabled.shaderQuality and Error compiling shader PSEmpty. Anyone know anything about these? I've validated my game cache and no luck.

Are you using the NoBlur fix?

Yay!

That's quite odd. This implies a wrong version of the files in the Dta subfolder when compared to the EXE file. Can you try deleting that sub-folder and re-verifying? Restarting Steam before that can sometimes help to process a faulty update as well.

Are you using the "Noblur" addon? Try removing it temporary and check the addons thread for an updated version.

EDIT: Argh double ninjaed! Even by a Dev. ^^

I got a strange bug once I start a mission at night time (I'm not using the dev build):

To get it normal again, I have to put my nvg on.

An other person had the same issue.

Guys, try and remember that you didn't BUY an Alpha -you preordered the game and have access to the Alpha process. At this state there may be new features introduced etc... so there is no guarentee nor obligation for BI to give us a playable build. If they decide to introduce some new feature or code that takes us all down to 5-7 fps, so be it! Thats Alpha testing and while feedback is not only encouraged (good or bad), expectations should be realistic.

Now if the final build gives you these problems and your above minimum specs......;)

I was using the NoBlur and deleted it, bam, working now. Thanks Gliptal. I didn't try the other fix, I couldn't find those subfolders.

There is another version of noblur available that works with the latest DEV build... the latest noblur build works... link is here - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148644-NoBlur

Hope it helps,

Well, my thing is this. I'd simply like for BIS to acknowledge the performance problems and start working towards a solution. But it bothers me when performance/CPU-bottleneck/whatever isn't even listed in the Top Known Issues page. That bothers me, especially when things such as "Fish do not react to players" are listed yet CPU/GPU optimization/utilization isn't on there.

well i've spent 4 hours on various different servers and every single one of them crashed after about 10 minutes with the red connection time out thing.

wonder if it is a problem with the new update?

Indeed, there is a general crash with the last alpha update, tho I'm not sure it's because people are using old missions using scripts with the old class names or because of a bug.

I hear ya Antoine. I'd be pretty bummed/pissed if my PC didnt play it and I kept reading other people's news flashes of how "awesome everything is". The thing is I'm sure that optimization will always be at the forefront of their plans -they may be waiting to induct further features/code first or are doing it as we speak as feedback pours in. I remember how many Arma 2 patches came in with notes like 'seagulls beak fixed' only to shake my head when directly behind it would come a stellar AI patch and the like.

Hope it works out for you soon :)

Sorry to say but optimization is one of the last things they will do since everything else has to be working properly first.

There may be some improvements along the way but don't expect any huge leaps.

People who complain that their CPU/GPU is not 100% utilized do not know how computers work so they will always be disappointed.

Can confirm. I have lots and lots of Chemlights in the mission. Could they be the cause of this?

I also got the strange colours after the last build friday. Only seems to happen when I alt-tab out and back in or change HDR settings.

With or without chemlights.

I did do a report, still to check todays update.

What bothers me is you.

Pls just calm down your shouting and let BIS do their jobs, they managed fantastic so far and will continue to do so without your whining.

Just be a good Alpha\Beta tester and go test stuff and file properly documented issues in the bug-tracker. Then let BIS decide what they want to do with your input!

Nothing more is expected from you soldier! Now go out there and be useful :)

Upvoted!

I have to tell my mates that Alt+Tab isn't really advised in my diving mission without NVGs ;)

Same for me. You can fix it by switching your NVG's on and off. Still, it needs to be fixed. Up-voted.

What shouting? Shouting is all caps. I'm letting BIS do their jobs by providing real feedback (like detailing specific problems with specific features). That is not whining. What I don't like is people decrying anyone who has a performance problem with this game. Those people are trying to keep BIS from doing their jobs. I'm being an Alpha tester. That means providing feedback, even if it's not positive feedback. The issue has been documented in the tracker. But it doesn't hurt to talk about the issue here and to at least try to see if some solution can be worked out client-side. As said, I just want BIS to acknowledge the issue that it is an issue.
