not only new cpu - but cpu with hiiigh clock!

not so many cores - less heat higher clock.. 4 cores are enough for gaming overall.

GPU: AMD Radeon 6750m 1024 GDDR5 - 780 Core 825 mem

CPU: Core I7 2720QM

RAM: 8GB

HDD: Crucial m4 256gb SSD

The game runs surprisingly well, especially after yesterday's dev build update, 60 fps generally over the island, mix of standard and very high with low objects, dips to 36-40 in built up areas and areas with a lot of foliage, overall im happy! :yay:

I can run most current games that I've tried at max settings with decent (50-60fps) framerates, mostly because they are console ports. Not the case in Arma III, nor Arma II/OA/ToH.

My specs, added to the list, I seem to be at the lower end of specs, but I can't afford an upgrade to an i5 or i7 and a current GPU. :(

AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE @3.2ghz

Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB

1 TB HD Samsung 7200RPM

8 GB 1300 mhz DDR3 RAM

Windows 7 64bit

Hoping for some optimisations to be made so that my current settings run better, rather than the "tough, upgrade" attitude most developers have.

guys do you think arma profits from a good VGA with lots of VRAM?

at the moment I have 560ti with 1 GB VRAM (it only lets me picck high texture quality)

should I go for 2-3 or even 4 GB VRAM? does this even matter on a 1080p set up?

Have a slightly older ASUS P5N-E, Intel Quad6600 @ 2,40GHz, 4 GB DDR2, Win7 32-bit and a 9600GT 512 MB on PCIe x16

It runs Arma III, which I'm happy for, but of course I'd like to optimise a bit. The settings are pretty low, I'm currently at 1280x1024x32, Standard quality for everything, no AA, no PPAA, ATOC or AF, Low HDR, Low post process.

I have a spare SSD which I can move my Steam installation to (the stupid ASUS MB wont boot from an SSD, sadly). Not expecting huge benefits from that though other than loading speeds :) Buying a new rig won't happen for a while. But I could spend $150 or so on a GTX650Ti for example. Would that give me a more beautiful game, but not very much faster in terms of FPS? Any better way to up the performance of the game while on a budget?

Best bet would be to upgrade graphics indeed while on a budget, although you can also look for cards below $100 (HD 7750 for example) for an upgrade which is already substantially faster than your GeForce 9600GT. If you have the money, the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost is currently good value for money and at the top of your budget.

The 7750 sounds like the perfect upgrade for me, low-power is an extra (for heat and noise, I have a 650W PSU so should handle most cards)

Much appreciated!

Currently a sandy bridge 2600, gtx 670 with a light OC, 4 gigs of dominator ram, vertex 4 256gig SSD.

Runs good at all settings on high @ 1920x1200 but will upgrade to 16 gigs ram/better cpu/gpu @ full release.

What do you mean it only lets you pick high?

I have the same card and I can pick the ultra setting (or whatever the highest one is)
