Almost 37 and I'm sure I've still got an Amiga 500 knocking about somewhere. Ahh the Amstrad 128 Sungasm. I used to have an Amstrad CPC464...happy times :)

CPC464 was my first computer. You remind my the childhood trauma I had after waiting 10 minutes for tapes to load, and just before finish loading .... read error ! :icon_ohmygod:

This all brings back memories, my old Dragon 32 is also still in my loft.

Back when shops used to display computers I would write a small program to wait for a minute and then play ramping sounds like a siren, turn the tv volume to max, run the program, move to the other side of the shop and then watch the shop assistants panic :)

Haha, interesting, I'm 40... And yes, I've read...

"This week definitely. There will be an announcement on the forums that the beta 3 is ready for pickup"

...and I'm impatient...

My first computer was an Apricot F1.

I'm loving all this nostalgia about first computers. I got my first when I was 7 years old, it was an Oric1 and my father made me learn some rudimentary BASIC before I could play games on it.

Ahh the days of typing in a program and spending 1-2 hours debugging the thing!!!

Apricot ? come on, that reminds me Sinclair ZX80 / spectrum with the rubber buttons, and guess what ? We used these rubber buttons for erasing pencil writting :D

Haha, I remember, my friend and me typed tons of Basic listings from Magazines ("Happy Computer" I think) all night long. Thousands of code lines, thousands of "GOTO <n>", and the result was: It didn't work even after extensive debugging. But in those days we didn'Ät understand Basic at all.

When I had my own Computer, the Apricot F1, I learned Basic and wrote a program which painted the result of mathematical functions on screen. You could even input range and zoom! I'm so sad I didn't keep it, it got lost over the years.

By the way: I think Splunkjamma's question was totally okay (Thread: Any ETA on Beta3 release ) and it would be good for us readers, if Foxhound would not close that Thread. And - also by the way - his aswer "But anyway, it will be released when it is ready" sounds not very satisfacting for me. Clear: its a correct answer. But with no worth and not very friendly because the question was very polite and theme was the announcing, that the release will be end of this week... If there is a delay it's also okay - so dont missunderstand me. I think we are all only just so enthusiastic and can't really wait till it's there...

Agree. Yeah, "when its ready" is a commonly written answer with a touch of arrogance.

Calm down, guys. I am sure the Beta 3 delay isn't any kind of evil plan to make us miserable. I am also sure Dram isn't the one to blame for the delay. Also we waited almost a lifetime for the remake of Carrier Command, so a few more days won't really hurt. I am still glad the devs (i.e. Dram) are talking to us finally and the feedback tracker is being used now (Thanks, Zozo!). I therefore think we shouldn't risk that new status quo by pushing the guys too much who make our favourite game come true.

Think about it!

Hello everyone again,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Is there any delay for Beta3 or do you think it will be ready today/tomorrow?

We ran into troubles while creating the installer on friday so we've had to postpone it for the start of this week. Data-wise it's all prepared and ready for release, just the installer needs to be brought up to scratch. Really sorry about this.

I'm sorry if the thread closing sounded in any way hostile, certainly I doubt it was meant that way. It was closed to avoid multiple threads about the same issue. As I mentioned, there has been a minor delay due to the installer, and I was hoping it would be fixed prior to me responding here, but unfortunately it's still being fixed at the moment. I would not expect the delay being more then a day or two. Please bear with us, we are trying to get it out of the door ASAP.

The delay is unfortunate, but it won't be much longer. With regards to our lack of communication before, we had a lot of work to complete, especially with adding requested features and addressing bug reports, so we made the mistake of not indicating that they have been recognized and acted upon. We are very sorry for that, as is known with BI, we do try to keep close ties with the communities of our games. This is applicable to CC:GM as well. You can expect mod support after release, with at least one documented example to show how it is done. Personally I look forward to seeing what the community does with the game. I'll try to help as much as possible with regards to questions mod makers may have as well.

I'll keep everyone updated as to the current status of Beta 3, and again, we are sorry for the delay.

Take care

Yeah as we have indicated before, simply indicating that the issues were resolved or whatever would have at least kept people in the loop. Ah well, water under the bridge. Looking forward to the beta.

Yes, thank you Dram for updating us. Also thanks ScareYa - im fully with you.

So one or two days... this sounds really good.

And by the way: A fully working Beta3 in a few days is much better than a buggy one right now.

Looking forward to beta3. I just installed beta2 last night and it seemed to run a lot better on my underspeced laptop than beta1. Biggest problem I found was the mantas were very hard to control with the mouse compared to in beta1.

Slow down guys :-)

Im also enthusiastic but let them their time. Dram wrote that the Specialist for the Installation-Routine (which is the reason, why Beta3 is delayed) comes back today. But we dont' know if the work will be finished today - maybe its more complex etc. etc.

And I think we all don't want to bother them more then necessary.

So hope, trust... and wait.

For those looking for Beta 3 - your much more likely to see an email before you see a post here. Even then - you have to check email to dl it - so keep your eye there.

I hope its today - but remember these guys are running a way different time scale than some of us.
