congrats on the release! I'm grateful to be able to help with the process. Arguably among the best of maps that size in my opinion.

If someone feels inclined it would be nice with a large FOB-template for those who want an FOB in the valley. The large, flat sandy area south of Hazar-Kedh and just below the mine would probably be great, since there's a small road going through it and everything.

Although I guess it's a rather vulnerable position unless you have an outpost up on Takur-Ghar, or else the enemy would have a perfect view of the FOB up there.

I hope your'e enjoying christmas guys! I'm sure enjoying al the compliments, it's great to see my work appreciated. Now I'm off to eat copious amounts of unhealthy things.

Here's some feedback

At the mine to the west (or whatever it is) one of the buildings (it's the small one and enterable) is too low and the ground clips through it

Area also needs some kind of electrical grid (considering that there's a mine there). Having electrical grid will also improve the atmosphere - since wires and big metallic posts, lamp posts tend to add to it.

I'll have a look at that building. :) my vision was that the mine was abandoned rather quickly, before it was even properly finished, and Hazar-Kedh is also very poor and run down, so I think the lack of a proper power-grid suits the place better, it's supposed to be remote and desolate.

It will look better with the powergrid connecting it though. I think worth a try.

Remember how f.e. those towers on Proving Grounds add to the atmo? (although they lack wires)

McNools you're awesome! Really well done! I have never been to afghanistan but this is the most believable afghanistan map I've ever played on. Everything looks natural and realistic. You have placed the compound walls and buildings a lot better than BIS did with Takistan. Definitely what I've always wanted and top quality. Gonna be one of those maps I tend to play constantly over and over and over.

OK another observation

Map needs patches of dense grass. I mean that green or yellow dense grass you can see in some places on Shapur/Takistan/Zargabad. Not only it will add variety and make the map look even better - but it will also lessen the feeling that those small pieces of grass were just placed using a random vegetation generator from Visitor.

This map is amazing! Thanks McNools! Played for quite a few hours with ACM set to 100% with Taki Ins and some US Strykers/Hummers and the diversity of the terrain made for some brilliant engagements. I saw so much attention to detail, every ridge I crossed revealed an eye-widening vista. I also realised how hard it can be to spot enemy infantry with all the bushes painted across the mountainsides of the inner valley. An excellent infantry environment. Speaking of environment, I agree with metalcraze on adding a little more grass density, but at the same time I can see how you could opt out of this for performance (noticed a pretty nice little fps increase/consistency on this map). At the same time I can't agree with adding a power grid to this map. The thing that captured my attention/imagination the most about this map was that it is this incredibly remote little segment of an A-stan esque valley that other maps (let's say Takistan) just don't have with their power grids and many ashphalt roads which seem to resemble more or less built up areas unlike the "off-the-grid" kind of feeling I get from this map.

tl;dr

Great map with amazing attention to detail. Excellent for infantry missions. Please keep the "off-the-grid" feel!:)

Very diverse terrain, love it mate!

Thanks!

I'll definitely keep the "off-the-grid" feel, don't worry. :) About the grass, I did experiment a little with it before, but I couldn't get it to suit the map properly then, might have a look at it again though, if only for a few places, I don't want it to feel too lush.

You can place lush grass in the lower valley like the one with the big village and still keep apparently colder mountains without large amounts of grass. I think this will also create a contrast where you go from "warmer" place to "colder" place as you move up.

Hm, I'm not sure, part of me wants to, but it's just so much work, and a lot of it is very tedious, so probably not within the forseeable future. :)

Good, good, very good map!! One of the better afghan-like map, to put between Helmand Valley, Torabora and Clafghan in term of quality! Thanks so much!!
