manat10oclock 10 Posted August 9, 2011 Hello,i suggest a new game mode when you are "tired" to play . Photoreporter mod, in this game mode you can go around the island, while other players are playing and you can take videos or take photos . :) i think that is very simple to implement wiht an virutal reflex or camcorder :D what do you think about ? Sorry for my english :) could you past this idea to the BIS team ?
vuckotadic 10 Posted August 9, 2011 Hmmm thats interesting, it also could be something like free camera spectating.
FallujahMedic -FM- 867 Posted August 9, 2011 Wasn't there a reporter character in A2 ... or was it Arma?

Laqueesha 474 Posted August 10, 2011 Interesting concept. I myself have tried playing as a embedded journalist assigned to a BLUFOR infantry group. It's quite thrilling when the OPFOR is shooting at you, a civilian journalist, and there is no way for you to defend yourself. It adds a new layer of gameplay to the game itself. icebreakr 3159 Posted August 10, 2011 We usually incorporate reporters in our missions. For example a guy is unarmed that is recording the event or we have to escort him from A to B while other team needs to intercept him etc. You could also do a mission by setting reports to WEST side with "this setcaptive 1" and then activating setcaptive 0 if reporters goes in the "danger area". CameronMcDonald 146 Posted August 10, 2011 What Ice said. It's called a civilian reporter slot in MP maps.
dmarkwick 261 Posted August 10, 2011 In my heaviest OFP DAC missions I would regularly play as reporter, to better observe the ground impact of the addon, without becoming embroiled in a fight (I often was killed accidentally though). I still needed to pick up a gun at the first opportunity however, as for some reason running without a gun was much slower.
icebreakr 3159 Posted August 10, 2011 Problem is that guys playing him usually pick up weapons and you have to arrest them ;)
heroes maker 10 Posted August 10, 2011 @IceBreakr nah, just by adding a command we could make them don't use any weapon, or at least some reporter have a pistol with a few magazine with them but they don't use it, so, adding a civ with a camera and a unique animation and then by pressing the "fire" button you can take the pictures and it saves them in a folder in your document
dmarkwick 261 Posted August 10, 2011 We need a gun that acts as a camera :) Didn't Hidden & Dangerous have such a thing? I seem to remember some of the missions required photographic evidence.

gossamersolid 155 Posted August 10, 2011 Without a sleep? :p You don't need to write a sleep if you want it to constantly check.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted August 10, 2011 I would. Try adding a hint. Just saying :)
andersson 285 Posted August 10, 2011 Have the journalist setcaptive=1 until he/she picks up a weapon.
wiggie 24 Posted August 11, 2011 Actually... A really good idea. Firstly, it adds a brand new spectrum to the game, as ARMA 2 is a War simulator, in the broad spectrum, it adds the journalism side to the game, which has been a staple part of modern warfare since the Cold War. Secondly, it adds a whole new level of depth to gameplay, being able to get down in the action and record, and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to add a few different camera types in, as well as lenses and tripods just to make it all feel better, and it could be made into a very deep and enjoyable expirience with ease. And finally, when it comes down to missions, a minicampaign or mulitplayer PVP mode that challenges players to capture the best images/footage of an AI fought battle would be sick, and it would also give a whole new depth to PMC missions involving protecting journalists. Spot on idea man! hope to see it in the game :)
Black Cat 10 Posted August 11, 2011 I like this idea. Perhaps having civilian news choppers (Take On models?) to video tape the action and also a video editor sort of thing that can add Greek, AAN, or Iranian news tickers and whatnot to the bottom.
Nielsen 10 Posted August 11, 2011 I really like the idea. I could see it beeing a problem with PvP though. Drawing from airsoft experience I have seen many a "civilian" player, giving other players positions away trying to get the "perfect (camera) shot". Not sure how big a problem that would be in Arma but I thought it was worth considering. :) EDIT: We need a gun that acts as a camera :). That would be awesome!
