Guest Posted December 1, 2010 I saw a documentry a while ago how we could "colonize" planets, even if right now we would not be able to live on them. I am not sure if your referring to the same one. It was about building factories causing polution, which causes global warnming, due to the rising temperature an atmosphere could start to form and the fun starts (this was it in a nutshell, dont discuss wether or not my layed out plan would work, the documentry was in fact very plausible, but futuristic and more detailed and scientific of course). Indeed, it would take a long time but with modern technologies we should be able to help the ecology growing there to grow faster and maybe even direct it. @Heatseeker Blond is blond, adapting is the word here. If its a bacteria, well.......so be it. It wont nag at least. But it wont clean neither :(

But it wont clean neither :( LOol, hahah :D.. enough now..phew.. This is serious business, NASA doesnt have the funds to go find alien life in space so they went looking for it on a lake on earth and they found it there, great! topas 1 Posted December 1, 2010 @Foxhound What you described is known since sci-fi exists as Terraforming ;) And as a long term process it is plausible, yes. Not like the most stupid terraforming method one could ever come up with... Star Trek II - Genesis Device @Heatseeker I'm pretty sure it's her:

KEVINMGXP 20 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) walker look at this from other side if scientists will find life than what will happen with god believes that god created human ? people will say - there is no god, there is no hell, so there is no sin, i can robe, steal, kill, rape - no punishment, so okay and you have mass of problems with people and falling culture roots arent you an Atheïst? :D anyways: if people would react this way because other life forms do exist then they arent really a believer or a folower of god is it? people that just tend to follow the others because it might look good hah, they have a word for this ;) if other life forms twists the beleaves of ones mans/momans beleaves then we can be better all atheïsts ... I have my own goddes i beleave in her :D outer life forms? maybe, who knows? i tend to beleave what i can see not what i can't see, and i'm pretty much not going to be bound on something that others say about it. I love the movies  edit: and a other thing, come to think off it, maybe there is an outher life form! but they try to keep away from us ... maybe it is not like in the movies that they gonna eat us or what ever twisted minded scenario you can put allong with outher life forms. maybe they did observed us over all those years so far! and you know what!? we can bet they say keep away from them! they or kill! or try and want to domminate everything they descover! hehehe. its a fact that we most sertain will do that! if there is other life that the MAN will try to investigate after investigating they will aprouch it and try to take advantege of it even domminate it, like we always did and will do ;-) look up on the world with those eyes and take it for a fact were not that nice! regards Edited December 2, 2010 by KBourne
Archamedes 10 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) i hope not, what would be if they would find human-feeding aliens or form that spread virus ? :( better to keep from any other form as far as possible , aliens are not for me, definetly they are not beauty girl feeding by ... :D 69 reasons to be afraid ? no, no no, let aliens stay away i would rather believe in being alone in the space than have to share earth with something strange which would use me seriously, if there was a dominant race of aliens that wanted to kill us all, they would have done it a long time ago. The fact we have apparently been visited by numerous aliens for thousands of years (some early evidence going back to times before jesus when alien and space ship drawrings where described in egyption pyrogliphics.) then im sure that an invasion would not be likely unless america decides to attack their planet for oil. your other post about aliens contradicting the fact that heaven and hell doesn't exist will cause people to go out and rob, steal and rape is nonsense. We live in a modern society where those things exist regardless of religious beliefs and most normal people abide by the laws of the land and not the laws of a book written thousands of years ago. The fact of the matter is if alien life is found and is backed up by scientific proof, then it will annoy the religious nuts, but so what... move on accept it just like people had to accept that the earth wasn't flat and heaven wasn't found beyond our clouds Edited December 2, 2010 by Archamedes
icebreakr 3159 Posted December 2, 2010 Maybe The Aliens from Independence Day are coming. You can count on the USA to save the day in the nick of time. :p As long as I know who to shoot at its ok. Hopefully they don't look like in V-series: .... or some corporate yappies will be my collateral damage ;)
slatts 1978 Posted December 2, 2010 my gut feeling is that they will say they havnt found life, just some new planets with water or something like that still, there is other life out there..there has to be :D

Honestly I think French people are more "peacefull" than any africans (no racism here, just taliking about religion). Even if you don't believe in hell/heaven you most likely know was is good/bad. I'm glad to live in an Atheist country and I might be wrong but I feel like atheist countries are more tolerant and have more respect for life than any religious country. This is just my opinion, I respect people who believe in god as long as they don't claim to know THE truth and I'll burn in hell for eternity because I don't pray their god and I don't follow their way of life There are several roads to happiness and if someone is not following yours it doesn't mean he's lost. I'm super uber ultra excited by this announcement This movie was quite original, Aliens were here to destroy humanity but somehow they were the good guys 6UWZBLUdYgs Edited December 2, 2010 by Macadam Cow

Perforator 10 Posted December 2, 2010 Apparently they have discovered a new form of life here on earth that is capable of survival in environments where they previously thought nothing could possibly survive.
STALKERGB 6 Posted December 2, 2010 This movie was quite original, Aliens were here to destroy humanity but somehow they were the good guys Strangely enough on originality, there was a film with almost exactly the same name, about pretty much the same thing, the same year. Was called "The Day The Earth Stopped" and went straight to DVD. I guess both were based on the original...

Bulldogs 10 Posted December 2, 2010 Apparently they discovered an arsenic based bacteria in California. It's impossible for an arsenic based lifeform to originate from earths building blocks meaning that the species originated on another planet.

Religion is not supposed to be centered around human being. Current main ones are anthropocentric, that doesn't mean that non anthropocentric theory is anti-religious. Moral exists not because of religion, but because it is a necessity for specie survival.
Heatseeker 0 Posted December 2, 2010 Now all the alien seekers will go around saying that this 'alien' bacteria was introduced to our planet on one of those frequent alien visits...

STALKERGB 6 Posted December 2, 2010 hmm, well it certainly makes for an interesting discovery. I guess finding such things allows a wider search for life, till now I suppose its all been looking for somewhere that could support creates similar to what we had already found on earth (with our DNA structure etc) EDIT: GFAJ-1 is a bit of a rubbish name... Arsenic Monsters is a better one I think lol
kavoven 4 Posted December 2, 2010 http://www.nasa.gov/topics/universe/features/astrobiology_toxic_chemical.html Just red a German summary in a newspaper but it didn't actually say its alien life, just some weired form of life on Earth, am I correct? Still very interesting :)
