minimalaco 30 Posted August 14, 2010 a question? , the map that was working, follows still on? I say so that I see it photos of takistan, and not of its map.

craig.turner 10 Posted August 14, 2010 a question? , the map that was working, follows still on? I say so that I see it photos of takistan, and not of its map. Yes that is still WIP, and we now have a second Island in progress, there will be an update on it in one of the 4 news posts we are releasing over the next week. We used Takistan for the pictures as we are currently testing gameplay on it, that way we have an optimised Island which when there are any problems, we can cancel the Island out of the equation, as we know its not going to be Takistan causing issues. . Big Mac 19 Posted August 14, 2010 Will people be able to host PR on their servers without consulting you as we do with every other addon?
-10th- Rezza 10 Posted August 14, 2010 Although i dont know what the intention of the server control will be.Considering that this is Project Reality then Admins and Servers are license controlled. So you cant just go open your server in PR you have to register on the forums get a license etc etc... This system is not a setback if you ask me it is advantageous i like it.

Wrong. If somebody downloads the mod, there is nothing they can do to stop people from hosting servers on it. They can make their own Official Server(s), but they can't stop clans/groups from hosting it if they want to.
Rhodesy77 11 Posted August 15, 2010 well they managed to do it in bf2, just saying :P but i really hope they dont go for this in a2, would really be against the community spirit imho.
Big Mac 19 Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) To do so would be wrong. This is not BF2, our community aspires to a lot higher standards than the DICE kiddies. IIRC no mod here in our community has ever required someone to get a damn permit to host it on their server that they bought with their own money. That right there is the only thing making me think twice about playing with this mod. Everything else looks like top notch work. -10th- Rezza 10 Posted August 15, 2010 Just being honest Big Mac the so called Dice kiddies have more tactical military sense on PR than any Arma 2 or Arrowhead game i played so far in these last 4 months on public.I really thought where is the voip where is the teamplay. What people did was just get in a chinook land close to a AO and attack all together. There wasnt even VON on some servers. I was expecting more teamplay and comms in public gameplay not a chat comm.

There is a technical way to do exactly that, Sahrani Life (ArmA1) and it's successor Chenarus Life had only one server in the newer versions as they put in safeguards so that the mission could only be played at their "official" server after people had been modifying and spreading modified versions of their mission all over the internet. [aps]gnat 28 Posted August 15, 2010 No Rezza & Laertes, your just playing on the wrong servers. Theres a bunch of public servers (or semi-public, ie not "Clan") out there that have mature groups play organised games. Don't expect to find them without a little more than an hours research. but i really hope they dont go for this in a2, would really be against the community spirit imho. Totally agree, server restrictions is NOT this community.
stun 5 Posted August 15, 2010 At the end of the day if you aren't happy with the server arrangements. Don't use PR. I for one will be happy to play on the PR servers. After experiencing the confusion that is the Arma online community - aside from the few organised public servers that Gnat is referring to. I made the switch to BF2 PR for my online fix early this year. I have to admit it hasn't disappointed me.
-10th- Rezza 10 Posted August 15, 2010 Love it or Hate it. I myself look forward for the release and this is Project Reality guys its the way they do it.Maybe they will change that way you never know there wasn't any official announcements made about the server license. To be honest i think there should be some control over the servers so people just don't go off and to their own thing.PR should be like PR not some modified different version of its self on another server. The Only Official Server Announcements: by (UK_Force) PR Exclusive - RCON Tool for Server Admins As the title suggests a dedicated set of RCON Tools for Server admins, this will be a god send and help them to admin the PR Server a lot easier. The tool will be customisable too. The Tactical Gamer community are currently helping with the development of this, and will be carrying out private testings of this tool. - Official Project Reality Servers As previously mentioned, we always place a big emphasis on Server Admins, and in the next few weeks we will be getting in touch with Server Admins who have shown interest to assist us in developing a robust system and config. This will ensure the PvP servers are in a position to be able to provide the players with a solid and reliable Project Reality PvP server. A place where they can simply join in and experience populated servers, with first class teamwork and a unique gameplay style. Looking forward for the next highlight! What? Like the dozens of ACE2 custom modifications spread through the community servers ..... Not. And the dozens of custom Bundeswehr Mods out there ... Not. etc etc The typical community / the players who hang around (I'm not talking about the "instant gratification" kiddies who will be gone after a couple of months), are not like some of the other communities you've been used to. Hang around here a couple years and you'll see.
Wicca 10 Posted August 15, 2010 PR is standardized. It must stay that way. Im not going to play PR Arma 2, if the servers have 10 different setups. I want to be able to choose servers without spending 10 min downloading, and setup a new shortcut, for each server. I play a game, not a server.
sommergemuese 0 Posted August 15, 2010 Hope there are enough Players for more than 2 Servers FPDR
Wicca 10 Posted August 15, 2010 Im sure there will be, as if we have server licenses, people dont have to download numerous addons and expansion. just PR. Also, usually Public gameplay in PR, is very organized, squads working togheter over mumble. Using veichles transportation and CAS in comms. On some public servers, there is even gameplay close to Tournament standards. This is what we are used to, this is Public Gameplay to us. If people in PR screw up or waste assets, they get raged at, not because we hate newbies, but because we want to make sure all players are up to the same standard, and if you cant take the heat, you cant play the game. IMO.
