Well, I give ALL games and companies the chance to make themselves up. Heck, Im even waiting to see how Black Ops will turn out. (now I can see they've taken a turn and are listening to community more)

Im just gonna sit here, wait, and see.

Just rememeber, that doesn't mean im bashing them, it doesn't mean im 100% gonna buy, heck, it just means im neutral and just, waiting.

-Renders shown and promises of epicness: any criticisms? "Wait for the in-game footage! It's only Alpha!"

Ironically I liked the renderings more than the final product :p

The problem with the "give the another chance" mindset is it doesn't teach them a thing, you buy the game because it 'might' be decent but in the end you are still purchasing their product and adding to their vaults and basicly saying "This is what we want" wether that is your intention or not, if it brings money it tells them the public wants it.

Sales may be lower but in the end they still get profit and that inspires them to create yet another sequel with the same (or less) atmosphere and the cycle continues, as long as people continue to buy the more sequels will be made. If you want them to stop and get 'right idea' you have to stop buying the half assed attempts and send them the message that "No this is NOT what we want"

You say this as though Black Ops has less chance of turning out to be a finished, acceptable product than Menstrual Maelstrom.

Those who buy BO will get exactly what is advertised. Everyone knows it will have a short, cinematic SP campaign and MP that will be a cross between MW2 and Counter-Strike. It'll be moddable and will have working multi-player. It won't have pretentions to calling itself a 'tactical shooter'.

You seem to have a very schizophrenic attitude towards this game. You complain endlessly on CM's forums about their having cancelled the mission editor, but don't seem to have any grasp of why many people developed an active dislike of it well before the announcement of all the features they have cut.

People will buy it in any case. Most of the console gamers over at CM forums most probably don't even know what the original OFP was. There's no way that CM will suffer profitloss. They will hype RR the same way as they did with DR because they got the budget to do it. They will go on and trash the OFP brand furthermore and there's nothing that anybody can do about it.

kind regards

Well, decent/half-decent game. Its not going to be a OFP, but its gonna be a fun infantry tac-shooter. At least. we hope, :j:

You are the only one hoping here TBVH

Everyone else who is a bit more realistic can tell you it's not gonna happen. Again, you are free to believe whatever you want to.

But as NodUnit said, you vote for a product with your money (or in your case, your parents')

Well let him buy it. He liked DR, so most probably he will like RR too. Don't try to convince him otherwise. Everyones entitled to buy and play what he likes.

kind regards

It doesn't necessarily apply to just him, it's the reason that many markets these days are shallow in repetition.

I can't help but wonder, do people buy games because they like them or because they are over hyped? Are many people just blinded by this and in the end willing to spend 40-50 dollars (or whatever currency) simply because they get something? IE sequels that add nothing new to the mix.

I suppose those that arguement is pointless, with the way things are now anything introduced new will be rejected by most due to not being familiar, enough action oriented or part of series they already knew or the 'popular' thing.

I do have to ask, whats wrong about liking to play OFDR?

the fact that there is nothing to like about it i guess, for most of us on those forums anyways..is it wrong? no, can't shit in someones tastes though, even i a turd is in the mix

i sait it before, if DR was not wrongfully named OFP, there wouldn't be such a thread here, and no one would be giving a flying shit about it

Namesake, community screwover and lies aside. Nothing, DR's not so much the problem as much as RR.

DR had vehicles of all sorts and a makeshift FLIR, red river is removing these things and using nearly the same assets, do you honestly think that 'dumbing down' is the way to go? Do you think this game truley deserves a chance?

I'm not saying don't play the demo, I'm just saying that even after you play the demo, before you purchase it, think. Is this really what makes me happy, do I want to send them the message that "yes" dumbing down is okay, is "progress" made by 'lowering standards'?

No, its about seeing if what they did remove justifies what (if they did) add.

@pufu, you can stop now, we get it.

Yeah, Im probably seeing it in a differnet way.

Im seeing it as "Red River", not "Operation Flashpoint: Red River"

I don't consider it an OFP game either, that's why I always refer to it just as Red River or RR, same with DR. Doesn't change the fact that CM are still trying to pass it off as OFP.
