Imperator[TFD] 444 Posted February 22, 2011 Bon, is there an easy way to set this mission up so that there is no end to the side missions? I'm contemplating combining this with the MSO frame work to create a persistent mission that also has side objectives players can complete for something extra to do. Hi Imperator_Pete, there is no easy way to implement something like sidemissions (missions that run in parallel to the main objectives) in the tfor mission. It is not impossible, but needs some scripting and some restructuring of existent code. For the main missions not coming to an end, the only file that needs to be touched is the scripts\missions\missionmanager.sqf. It'd require you to make the main loop running forever by exchanging the for "_i" from 1 to ... to something like While{true} do ... Prevent a picked mission name from being removed from the tfor_missions array and a picked location being removed from the tfor_locations array.
-Total- 0 Posted February 25, 2011 Hiya Bon, We're getting inconsistent results with CFOR. Sometimes it will run without a problem, but most often it will either: A) Not trigger the end of the mission to activate another one B) All enemy AI will stand in one place and be invulnerable. We run the server in Combined Ops mode and no addons server side (except BAF and PMC) and most addons client side are sound mods.
Bon 12 Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) Hiya Bon,We're getting inconsistent results with CFOR. We run the server in Combined Ops mode and no addons server side (except BAF and PMC) and most addons client side are sound mods. Hi, thanks for the hints. A) I definitely need more information on this one. Which mission was it in particular that did not trigger the end? B) Had this problem once: units freeze and become invulnerable, but due to a server crash. I could track down the problem to the civilian module. Civilians enabled - server crashed frequently. Civilians disabled - all runs fine. Other hardware, same mission: no problems at all. So it seems to be a heavy problem with the Ambient Civilian Module of Arrowhead used on Chernarus. However I can't do anything about it, all I do is spawning and starting the module, that's it. Never even touched the code for the civilian thing and not going to do so. So if you encounter this issue, all I can suggest is to play without civilians. Oh and btw, if you could use dev-heaven.net for bugreports that would be great. Makes it easier for everyone to manage, track and discuss such things. Thanks. hf. Edited February 25, 2011 by Bon
vengeance1 50 Posted March 11, 2011 Bon, With the new update for UPSMON v5.0.8 will you be updating this? Or can we just swap the directory ourselves? Thanks, I use this TFOR as the core for all my missions.
JLea 10 Posted March 13, 2011 tfor_enemy_side = west; tfor_friendly_side = east; causes the missions to spawn very far away, and no enemies to spawn (only vehicles). Any idea what causes this?
Bon 12 Posted March 13, 2011 Hi, Bon,With the new update for UPSMON v5.0.8 will you be updating this? Or can we just swap the directory ourselves? There will be another update of TFOR I hope shortly after the 1.58 patch release. And it will include an update of UPSMON (which is of version 5.0.5 atm), but only to version 5.0.7. I hesitantly look at 5.0.8 because of this CBA requirement (which has been "removed" afterwards), but more important, because the changes of 5.0.8 have no effects on the TFOR mission at all. So rather leaving it than risking to screw up a vital function of the mission. However, if you want to update it on your own, you can just swap all the UPSMON related files (except for the init.sqf, that's mine) and adjust all paths to sqf's in the upsmon files. That should do the trick. tfor_enemy_side = west;tfor_friendly_side = east; causes the missions to spawn very far away, and no enemies to spawn (only vehicles). Any idea what causes this? Did you change the respawn_west marker to respawn_east? Other than that, what version/map did you try in particular? hf.
vengeance1 50 Posted March 13, 2011 Thanks Bon, Ok I did that with 5.0.8 (with CFOR) and have not seen any script errors so far (Dedi Server), missions seems to come up fine but have not completed them all (kinda tuff to do:)) I will post if I find a show stopper. UGLY58 10 Posted March 22, 2011 Bon, A little while ago you gave me your supply script and I have recently been trying to add it to a mission I am writing. I am having two problems and hope you can help me. 1. I have two scripts using common.hpp I appreciate that I can`t have both in the description. You said in the readme to not use the [#include "bon_supplydrop\dialog\Common.hpp"] if I had two scripts using it. If I leave yours out I get an error message looking for it. How do I place a common.hpp that both scripts can use. 2. Second error I have, is if I disable the Nordin Support Script (which uses a common.hpp) then run your supply script I get the following error.
Bon 12 Posted March 22, 2011 1. I have two scripts using common.hpp I appreciate that I can`t have both in the description. How do I place a common.hpp that both scripts can use. 2. Second error I have, is if I disable the Nordin Support Script (which uses a common.hpp) then run your supply script I get the following error. Well, second first. You disabled the other common.hpp and used mine, then it complains about a missing class that should be part of my common.hpp. So you screwed something important up in the first place :D Using my common.hpp the base class 'HW_RscPicture' should exist, but doesn't according to this error message. You should track your steps back and fix that first. Just in case you don't know about all this creepy dialog stuff, let me try to clarify: An .hpp file defines classes for dialogs, their elements like backgrounds, controls like buttons etc. etc.. Each of these classes needs to be uniquely named. If there are classes having the same names your arma will crash telling you something like "Member already defined", and if there is inherited a not-existent class by another class it will slap you in your face saying "Undefined base class...". You can have multiple common.hpp included in your description.ext, as long as there are then no classes/members defined in both that conflict in their identifiers. My common.hpp should be always the same in all the scripts I wrote, providing me some base stuff I use over and over again. This is the reason why you can't include multiple of my common.hpp in your description.ext, but it is also the reason why you don't need to. If you want to use a script by another person that comes with a common.hpp, too, you can technically use it along with my one, as long as there are no duplicate class names then. In that case, I think the best way would be to manually rename the conflicts in the respective .hpp files. This post may have made things only more complicated for you, but for some reason I am not for brief explanations today... :p Especially when it comes down to dialogs. I just hate them. hf. UGLY58 10 Posted March 23, 2011 Wow, That was a long explanation, but very appreciated. I will try to follow it and see what I can sort out. I kind understood it, only time will tell...and some considerable testing. thanks again.
ebarstad 18 Posted April 4, 2011 Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for this mission and how portable you've made it, Bon. I had it running on Duala in about 5 minutes. The only issue I've seen is that a number of the AI are aiming/looking upwards instead of frontwards for some reason. Could be unrelated to Takistan Force, though. Because of how well you've organized the scripts, I've also been able to make some changes to better suit the way I like to play (SP), which is awesome since I've never messed around with Arma scripts before. Thanks for all your work on this.
Bon 12 Posted April 5, 2011 You are free to download the "RC of v1.05". I am not going to add any more features to the current state, nor have I reason to suspect the need of further changes. However, this WILL actually be the last update of this mission at least for a long time, so I want to make it right and call this an "RC", hoping to get some feedback before the proper release, and/or the one or other serious bug reported that we couldn't detect yet. Download: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/takistan-force/files Changelog: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/takistan-force/roadmap Please also note the Duala Port available for download (thanks to Icebreakr for this wonderful island). hf. Bon 12 Posted April 7, 2011 hello bonsince the patch last week, iam not able to destroy the air radar from the mission "destroy scud and radar". i placed around 20 satchels. do you have any idea? we use the ACE version. Hi Massoud, did you try to shoot it? With rockets or missiles? That shouldn't work, you can only blow it with a satchel. There where at least two other people here saying the radar/scud mission is bugged in a way the radar can't be blown or the mission doesn't end after blowing both the targets. But I never succeeded in reproducing this problem - instead I found myself running around, doing the radar/scud mission at least 15 times so far. It worked every time (it might be ACE, as I don't use or test with this mod, but its hard to believe). It might be of a little help you tell me what version you played on which island. Would be even greater you provide the .rpt file of the server machine you played on. As I said, can't reproduce, especially with that lack of detail. hf. Massoud 10 Posted April 7, 2011 hello Bon yeah we try everything rockets, missiles etc. i had yesterday the same problem with a radiotower from a domination sidemission. also i realized that the satchels are now around 2kg instead of 9kg. i think ACE changed the satchels config. i know that all is not your problem. my question is now: can i change a "damage value" of this radar thingy? when yes where? Posta 10 Posted April 12, 2011 I like this a lot. Feels alive! BUT I will never recruit a pilot (light) again. :) What's up with number four? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo-1irdZcjQ
Bon 12 Posted April 13, 2011 I like this a lot. Feels alive!BUT I will never recruit a pilot (light) again. :) What's up with number four? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo-1irdZcjQ Hehe, made me smile :) Maybe you scared him with this music. Removed the Pilot (Light) from the recruit list. What's the point in recruiting an unarmed anyway...

JuggernautOfWar 1 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Hello Bon. I'd like to report a minor bug with the RC1.05. As a commander you can build a seemingly infinite number of buildings of each type around the Stryker MEV. It also seems impossible to "decompose" the AA launcher for mobilization. Thank you for all your hard work on the best mission in ArmA history. Edited April 16, 2011 by JuggernautOfWar
