.kju 3245 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) Haven't seen a thread yet, so here we go. :) HeinBloed: This Addon changes the plants. - Downscaled textures. - Several of the first LODs removed. - More FPS and less GPU memory usage. - Grass does not change distance-related. Some textures and models are greatly reduced, some are slightly reduced, and some are not reduced. Every single textures and model was modified separately. evilfury 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Still im getting better fps with your mod proper mods kju. Unfortunatly I cant play with them online.
randir14 10 Posted September 25, 2009 Somehow this mod makes my performance worse. And ditto on the better fps with PROPER.
evilfury 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Huh same here. With GTD I get 30 fps on start of mission village sweep. With proper i get around 50 fps in same mission.
.kju 3245 Posted September 25, 2009 Hm that sounds rather strange. How about using a set of camera only missions to measure the FPS and visual changes? Like this one: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/show/1745#note-
OverDawg 10 Posted September 25, 2009 Hmmm, now I'm torn a bit. My FPS is ok so I dont want to get reduced textures but the LOD switching has always been so annoying for me... :)
evilfury 0 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) Am kju where do i have to put these two files init and mission. They are not pbo so if i put it in missions folder it doesnt detect it. EDIT: I figured out. Ok I made the tests. With proper mods i get: 33 avg 46 highest 12 lowest 22 avg minimum GTDmod avg 28 46 highest 8 lowest 18 avg min Settings are mostly normal, PP off, shadows high and VD 2400 and 1680x1050 res. Alex72 1 Posted September 25, 2009 I get lower FPS with this as well. Much lower.
fincuan 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Noticeably lower FPS here too, and for me the culprit turned out to be clutter. Using other parts from this one but the clutter-part from Proper made all the difference.
neokika 62 Posted September 25, 2009 I get lower FPS with this as well. Much lower. Me too...
[GLT] Legislator 66 Posted September 25, 2009 Well ... me too ... 5 fps lower in general according to fraps but it feels like 10 or more.

Like this one: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/show/1745#note-7 Kju, great benchmark mission, can you make one that covers Chernarus?I meam, that passes in more towns, not only chernogorsk??? Average 34fps Min Average 23fps Max 46fps Min 2fps Thanks a lot Kju
.kju 3245 Posted September 25, 2009 I think comparing FPS between different system won't work really. Instead you should test plain vs GDT Mod Plants vs PROPER vegetation tweaks. Another aspect you should compare is grass vs no grass (terrain detail very low) vs tweaked grass by GDT vs PROPER. Also understand that you can take just one or some of the PBOs from GDT / PROPER or even mix both (just not the same type of both like twice clutter). That mission was made by MadDogX. I assume you can easily drag triggers / WP to different locations to get a different benchmark mission. Just load it in the editor and see how it is made. KeyCat 131 Posted September 25, 2009 ... - Grass does not change distance-related. A this sounds great! I Really hate the morphing undergrowth so I must give this one a spin. Thanks Heinbloed (and kju for the news). /KC

Ringhejm 10 Posted September 26, 2009 Well I must say that whit these 2 mods. PROPER - Buildings Tweak Visuals - Low PROPER - Vegetation Tweak Visuals - Low I dont get any notic in my FPS I dont know if i ned to have more than those 2. But if i combine it whit GDT Mod I have some of 10 FPS better and it loads the world much fast when i flush my memory. I dont know if I can combine those 2. but it works so far. I will try just the GDT mod and tjeck that by it self.
KeyCat 131 Posted September 26, 2009 Undergrowth is so much better with this mod, no more morphing and changing LOD's/textures on grass etc. as you walk in woods. That being said it come to a price since I loose ~8 fps and on already strained fps budget thats not good. Will play around with the various parts and see if things improves. Now if some of you "addon gurus" could fix the tearing line on the ground that follows you around (most notable in slopes, look ~7 m ahead of you on the ground while walking) I would be really happy. It's not related to this addon but a engine thingy (and been there since day one) so I guess only BIS could fix it if they bothered but some of you guys have surprised me before by your awesome work! /KC
mr_centipede 31 Posted September 26, 2009 @KeyCat I think that tearing is the texture is swapping normal mapped texture to bump mapped texture, where the texture looked as if 3D with rocks and stuff. Maybe only BIS can fix that...
KeyCat 131 Posted September 26, 2009 Yea, I guess you are right Centipede, I just took the chance to bring the issue forward since it's one of those small but annoying engine things in ArmA 2 along with the morphing undergrowth, heavy texture flickering on distant objects in scope/binoc view etc... Hopefully BIS pay attention to it further down the road!? /KC
.kju 3245 Posted September 26, 2009 KeyCat did you try without GTD clutter PBO or with the PROPER one instead? Make a ticket at the CIT about the other issue.
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted September 26, 2009 Now if some of you "addon gurus" could fix the tearing line on the ground that follows you around (most notable in slopes, look ~7 m ahead of you on the ground while walking) /KC I hope for a "fix" since A2 release, it looks horror. Ontopic: This plants mod works very well for me. I'm testing mods like this with high speed - extreme low helicopter flights and I have zero stutter and lod changes are ~ok. But I still dream for a plants/tree mod without any lod changes! Thanks. MfG Lee
no use for a name 0 Posted September 28, 2009 I'm also seeing ~5-8FPS loss with this addon compared to stock vegetation...don't know why and it's confusing
johncage 30 Posted December 11, 2009 i feel a slight stutter using this mod. do you think the increased lod switching is causing this?
