HeinBloed 0 Posted August 22, 2008 I am sorely afflicted by ArmA's HDR. Therefore i made this little Addon. With this Addon you can disable ArmA's HDR. This Addon is client side only. Keys: HDR ON: [iNSERT] HDR ON HDR OFF: [POS1] Preset value day [END] Preset value night [DELETE] Preset value night-vision goggles [PAGEDOWN] Reduce brightness [PAGEUP] Increase brightness Required: Extended Event Handlers (XEH) by Solus and Killswitch v1.7 This picturees shows how HDR works on my ArmA installation: This video shows how HDR works on my ArmA installation: YouTube Video Download GDTModHDR (3KB) Armaholic mirror ePrison.de mirror

JoshuaC 0 Posted August 23, 2008 Does it just fix the HDR values or does it completely remove it?

Alex72 1 Posted August 23, 2008 Nice addon! Is it possible to do the same for the sound HDR that lowers the sound everytime sonic cracks are played? Im annoyed by the volume goes up and down while being immersed in battle. Thanks for the addon. Regards Alex
ck-claw 1 Posted August 23, 2008 This is excellent! Gez i've had probs with the NV's I like how you can turn the HDR on or off! Thanks.
hamis 0 Posted August 23, 2008 Really great! This is what we have been wating for.Just 2 things:can you make it work for crews(in vehicle from start),and make it automatically set hdr day?
gsleighter 0 Posted August 23, 2008 This is great, I can finally tap a key a couple times, and cloudy days look like cloudy days! Very very good work, being able to manually set my HDR does wonders, I can finally run around in the forest!
Shadow NX 1 Posted August 23, 2008 Nice addon, wonder how its done because if i remember right when the first few threads about the annoying HDR issues popped up here the devs said its hardcoded and cant be easiely disabled. But my memory may fool me there and it was just users that said that.
action man 0 Posted August 23, 2008 Prob a stupid question but whats "POS1" Key? I havn't got it on my keyboard

rundll.exe 12 Posted August 23, 2008 Calling this "disableing HDR" is a bit too much, since its just using setAperture, but it does its job ofc.
Wolfrug 0 Posted August 23, 2008 Nice addon, wonder how its done because if i remember right when the first few threads about the annoying HDR issues popped up here the devs said its hardcoded and cant be easiely disabled. It's just a simple setAperture hack, cleverly tied to keys using XEH and displaySetEventHandler (allowing you to change the aperture values with the keyboard). Easily applicable as a cheat, as you can get the "grey nightvision" found in certain vehicle addons simply by lowering the setAperture until you can see clearly at night without NV goggles. Very cute though. Not something I would allow on my server, but then again I haven't got a server. Edit: as rundll.exe said before me, of course! Alex72 1 Posted August 23, 2008 Thanks HeinBloed nice to have those little GDT tweaks!Alex[Dev]72 did you try PROPER Gameplay Sound SupersonicCrack Effect Removed from Q's Proper Mod ? Hi NoRailGunner. No i didnt, and i wont go there lol. The sonic cracks just make this game so much more intense. I know thats a fix to a problem, but my question stands - is it possible to do the same to that HDR sound thing and turn it off? I asked or requested/wished in the arma2 suggestion thread about this. If its possible to make it on/off (option) in arma2. I think its crap that the volume on cracks should drag down the overall volume, but not explosions and other loud sounds...? Weird. Been playing too many FPS games before ArmA that all didnt have the cracks and when finally get them, there is volume issues. Sorry for the derail. But the question is valid here as the addon maker got skills Is this possible? Regards Alex

Regards Alex I agree with Alex on this, we shouldn't have to sacrifice the crack sound just to stop the sound fluctuations in arma. At the moment I'm finishing up the sound mod for unsung and due to the large amount of different crack sounds used in the pack ,I wonder how the community will respond if the sound volume constantly keeps changing. However back on topic ,the HDR mod will work wonders in the jungle since some areas are very dense and dark , since arma has the tendency to fade in and out ...... good job!!!! Wolfrug 0 Posted August 31, 2008 @hamis Well obviously not It works using the init eventhandler, most likely - if the mission has already been initialized once without using the mod, then all units are liable to already have had their "init" eventhandlers run! Just restart the missions and it should be okay! Regards, Wolfrug
hamis 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Quote[/b] ]It works using the init eventhandler, most likely - if the mission has already been initialized once without using the modWell, you mean it shouldn't work if mission is saved using mod? Also found out it doesn't work if player starts as vehicle crew.Jumping out doesn't help.Is it really impossible to correct these 2 issues? mrcash2009 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Cool, I realy have been aching for HDR for daytime to be killed, realy is an immersion stopper in forrests. When in real life does walking though a dark dense forest suddenly look like the sun has just landed on your head. EDIT: well just had a play and well, you have managed single handed to solve not only what fixed range night vision did but daytime as well  One thing that would be good is to fix how this works (if it can) to be operational after mission save/resume. Also is there a way that when you switch on nightvision it will switch to correct mode automaticly? Also correct me if im wrong but fixed range night vision Im sure resumed after mission save. Also in fixed range nightvision I beleive it remembered your brighness value when you switched it on again (and echoed the value on screen), could this be added too? We could then add the value we like into the script as defualt or something. Just to save flipping with keys as your playing when you switch around. All in all, this is a "harcoded keeper" great work, and a real shame this wasnt already in BI's graphics options out the box. (I also totaly agree on HD sound issue too).
