  1. That sounds great on the paper but in practice mods are either scripted or (considering models) varying levels of quality in comparison to Vannila arma.Revive function and End game groups for example is yet to be built in engine which makes me think that turning script into in engine features takes time and workforce. That in conjunction with already planned (expansion) new terrain, features and weapons, 3d editor, mod management&arma3 launcher to name few, only developers and project lead can tell if that is feasible.
  2. I'm glad for new system. No game should have permanent menu to access features.
  3. Yeah...there is 2910 people who wanted and voted for Bipods, yeah it's special.
  4. Yes Valve is monopolist in regards to steam workshop - no other service allows stored mods to be downloaded straight in game. (note Nexus and the Armaholic for example are external services, you gotta download and manually install/configure).In order to get better reception Valve should be more open in this regard what goes where and why.But is evident that there is no system in place to curate or sort mods with their price, no communication beforehand with community in regards to new system. Take a look at this: What happens if mod author don't release patch? Sometimes one mod may modify the same files as another mod, or a particular combination of mods may cause unexpected outcomes. If you find that mod has broken or is behaving unexpectedly, it is best to post politely on the Workshop item's page and let the mod author know the details of what you are seeing. Literally from steam workshop support mod authors webpage
  5. It's weird as to why all subcategories (developer, publisher...) are united under "valve takes 75%."
  6. Yes!Before Helicopter dlc sound systems were largely neglected.I'm so glad that things are moving forward towards better and more immersive arma 3 soundscape. There was a study of a who person watches horrible movie quality with great audio compared to great visal movie quality with horrible sound system, and it turns out the person will stay with better audio/worse visual, longer then the other way around.Sound seem unimportant but plays big and important role.
  7. Chesko ("takedowned" author)didn't include anyone else's work. Steam didn't 'take down' the mod. Chesko's mod recommended the user to install fore's animations, and if they did, Chesko's mod would use them. He didn't upload anything he didn't make at any point. The reason it was removed is because Chesko wanted to respect fore's wishes regarding the matter. All this article achieves is a click-bait anti-paid shitstorm at Chesko's expense- regardless of his decision to participate in this, Chesko has a history of helping other modders get along and sharing his methods with the community. He's not an asshole, he doesn't deserve this negative attention. Please people, try to be rational about this. All I'm seeing everywhere are people throwing hissy fits because they don't want to pay for things. This IS a terrible way for steam to handle things, we SHOULD ask for change. Kicking your feet and crying (aka, posting big middle fingers in the comments and insulting people) achieves NOTHING but hurting people on both sides of the argument.
  8. What is opinion on samples 3 dimensional samples - could they benefit game in relation to development time vs pushing audio fidelity further? Yey Mega I'm excited, you do like blog or something after the visit, I like reading technical oriented posts from you.
  9. I will use this opportunity of Bohemians creating roadmap for expansions to bring up few relevant issues: Terrain: New technique for rendering grass at far distance Right now soldiers sink into the ground to mimic hidden prone position. To be obscured by the grass would be even better because sinking in doesn't break the silhouette.Current technique is not visually appealing either. http://abload.de/img/arma32013-03-0918-58-awse9.jpg (113 kB) Feedback tracker ticket with 1500 votes how to get rid of the blurry mid range textures The current system lacks quality at mid range because there is only one texture with the size of 1024px*1024px that gets tiled over the whole island. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4934308/Arma%203/mid_range_problem/Long%20range/original.jpg (391 kB) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4934308/Arma%203/mid_range_problem/Long%20range/new.jpg (429 kB) Feedback tracker with 1100 votes Engine: Bullet in chamber accounting You mentioned in Sitrep that guns in arma 3 are merely shapes.Expansion would be great opportunity to rework and improve this aspect and to introduce tactical reload and dry reload for every weapon. Improvement would be immense. Feedback ticket with 800 votes Every geometry that enters terrain geometry ends up in explosion.Fixing this issue would allow helicopter crash landing without explosion, Tilting or rolling, landing among trees would not lead to instant death, vehicle in contact with each other (colliding geometry) would not result in explosions. Realistic body armor When shot and wearing a vest, you will still be severely wounded, and another shot in the vest will kill you. This is not at all how body armour works today, or in the future. Body armour works like this: You have a soft armour, kevlar, that covers large areas of you body. Kevlar will stop shrapnel, pistol rounds, some richochets, etc. but not larger rounds. Then we have the hard armour, trauma plates. These are positioned in the front, rear and sides of the vest, and whilst not covering as much as the kevlar, they still cover most of the vest. These plates will stop several (as in roughly 8-12) 7.62 rounds before breaking. If a shot hits the plate, the worst thing that can happen is that you're knocked over and suffer pain, perhaps broken ribs. Quite often though, because of adrenaline rush a soldier won't even notice he was hit in the plate until after a firefight is over. Feedback tracker ticket AI Artificial intelligence driving pathfinding, ability to take sharp turns, detection of objects on the roads (phyXs supported or non phyXs) Feedback tracker with 500 upvotes Animation Player Movement Speed Needs Gradual Acceleration and Deceleration and transition between speeds Inertia is completely absent from ArmA3 - thus There is no noticeable transition between standing and sprinting. There is no noticeable transition between sprinting and stopping. You can turn 180 degrees while running full speed in 0.1 seconds. That's right - you can immediately run the other way like in some 2D platformer. Now try shooting a guy doing this trick. Feedback tracker ticket
  10. Yep.I remember gameplay decision behind it - that in real aircraft you have this mode on but I personally know for a fact that A-10 has console where you can configure number, time, sequence of flares, so I'm curious about their gameplay decision. ---------- Post added at 15:38 ---------- Previous post was at 15:29 ---------- This was pretty revealing to me as I'm perfectionist and I would love to see all bugs fixed.

    Marksman DLC - Thank You

I loved the fact that behind bipods is working animation blending, and that I can reload while being deployed.Well done on DLC overall bohemians.
  12. They are refactoring keys, so bugs in this regards will happen.Like Ctr can't change optic sight. "An investigation into interaction has us first taking aim at the keyboard. New weapon switching actions have been added, allowing players to bind their infantry weapons to any key they desire. To increase the number of available options, we have also unlocked almost all hardcoded controls to better support this technology. Quickly switching to your pistol in a tight spot is no longer a thing of the past and you can also use these keys to switch firing mode too. But this is just the beginning! We are currently working on bringing this technology to vehicles as well, and expect to continue improving interaction on the whole to be Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Stay tuned." 13. I really like bush collision sound with a strider. When I tried with hunter it seemed weird.Quite a difference.
  14. Those are written reports of what is going on behind the scenes. It's extremely valuable to know how, and why behind their ideas and implementation of different things. Also is not like writing text equals development.
  15. When you heal it teleports you bit backwards so animation always looks like you stitching air, instead of person

    Course of Fire: Purple

    Just a tip!Nice, thanks.
  17. Overall it seem to work: Community votes on what would it pay for, author gets 70% cut.The other content is still free, and paid community voted weapons can't be owned but you can play with people who has them on the server. Hopefully you mean that game is barely playable for you because for myself and lot of other people is more then playable hence so many hours spent in game. If I would have 70% cut of something popular I made with tears and sweat in comparison with zero founds before I would call that a solid benefit.

    Course of Fire: Purple

Good eye on discovering all targets. It's a bit help to people like me too!
  19. Ofcouse there is another school of thoughts.Different opinions, which is not inherently wrong.
  20. We all have to learn.I think is fine to post youtube video as a reference. However it shouldn't be posted as how it should be. Why shouldn't we use youtube as proof?Because of low quality of footage and youtube compression system that lowers quality. (it's important to state why, so people understand that) Good ideas.Or set up microphones on the far side of the range That or buy samples of someone who did that already.
  21. How do I reproduce? (where does it happen, how, why) it's also super easy to make Feedback tracker ticket.Let me know if you need help!
  22. Yep.Or is similar to saying that resolution doesn't matter in quality of picture. The higher the bitrate the more information it can store, the better the quality and ofcourse the higher the size.
  23. Do anyone else think that gestures shouldn't be on anykind of menu?I remember Agm, I recall CSE and it always felt slow and cluncky accessing through the menu when you need it in split second. For example, imagine rifle raise being on on the menu instead of binded key. In my opinion it should be binded just on keys, pretty much like in ACE1!
  24. Zeus is not taken from MCC or VTS is from god old prototype of 3d editor from flashpoint.I saw a video about it, but I'm speaking from memory so I can't find source, but is somewhere around in forums.
