Arma 3 Photography : Questions and Comments
Greenfist replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Was there any official clarification to the new "only public mods allowed" rule yet? Can we just ignore the literal interpretation of its wording, as long as we avoid posting pictures with illegal/ripped content? -
Arma 3 Photography : Questions and Comments
Greenfist replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Just to be clear, it's perfectly ok to post images with private textures, effects, scripts, animations and config replacements? And only unsourced or known rip-off 3D models are prohibited? -
Show bullet position every millisecond
Greenfist replied to Mariusz B's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
The bullet's position is updated only once per frame. You'd have to calculate the position between them manually. You could slow down the time to get 1/1000s resolution. But why do you need so accurate data? -
Placing Objects at Supplied Gird Locations
Greenfist replied to obrien979's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
If you have only a few objects and don't need scripted placement, you can just press M to open the map and see the grid. -
How I Think Bohemia Should Move Forward
Greenfist replied to Ollie Hillman's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
By the way, who really thinks Arma is still a niche game? Almost 4 million copies sold, 400,000 players in the last two weeks, one of the 25 most played games on Steam last year. And all this five years after the release. If that doesn't make it a moderately popular mainstream game, then I don't know what will. -
Setting the aim direction of a player
Greenfist replied to Omurice.'s topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I haven't played around with these things, but I guess you could attach the unit a dummy object to freeze it in place. Remove recoil (setUnitRecoilCoefficient), remove sway (setCustomAimCoef), and then manipulate the direction of the object/player. I don't know how will you match the direction with the target though. Perhaps by first aiming manually by hand and then attaching. -
Arma 3 Photography : Questions and Comments
Greenfist replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I think every one of the pictures I've posted here have included private mods that will never be released. Usually no fully new models, though. So I guess I'm good, unless the rule includes all retextures and config tweaks too. I assume not. -

Tanks - Missile flight profiles and weapon improvements
Greenfist replied to oukej's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
At a little longer distance it's not very top-down: And yeah, shooting AT from prone was the first stance I was taught and the most common one used. So for me, the game has always lacked the distinctive AT guy feeling of crawling through the mud with that cumbersome launcher in hands.- 328 replies

And that's exactly what he addressed in the comment you quoted; AI devs are a rare breed. I doubt the 3D artists and the sound guys could do much good in the AI coding department.

No news. The only official word is that BI will continue to make games and Arma 4 is a possibility.

The arrows point at the next letter in the word. They spell "trpaslik", nickname for one of the developers. "Dwarf" in English. I think you can find the same word also on Altis and Chernarus maps.

Can i have workshop content on another hard drive ?
Greenfist replied to Jack Painz's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Find the Link Shell Extension program and install it. (There are others programs like it and you could do the same with mklink command too) Close Steam. Find your Workshop folder. It's in your Steam library folder on the SSD: <somethingsomethingsomething>\Steamlibrary\SteamApps\workshop\content In there you'll see Arma's folder "107410". Move it to your HDD. Right click the folder and select the Link program's "Pick link source" option from the context menu. Go back to the folder where you moved the 107410 from. Right click on there and select "Drop As..." -> "Symbolic Link". This should create a 107410 link that looks like folder. Open it to make sure it has a bunch of mod folders in it. (or maybe there's just the BR one if you don't have any others installed) They're named after the mods' ID numbers, so they don't say "Breaking Point" but something like 12345678. Start Steam and Arma. Note that I take no responsibility it something breaks because of this. But even in the worst case, you'll only have to delete the link and redownload everything. -
Can i have workshop content on another hard drive ?
Greenfist replied to Jack Painz's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You can move the workshop folder somewhere else and create a symbolic link for it to the original location. Steam and Arma will see and use the link just as if the files were really there. This has worked flawlessly for me for years. I've used a small and simple program called "Link Shell Extension" to create the links/junctions. -
If you don't want the loop you can just disable it in the timeline module. I don't know what kind of huge potential that will unlock though.

Where are ingame sounds for Pain Grunt?
Greenfist replied to johnnyboy's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Here's an unnecessarily long list of moans, groans, grunts and ouchies: In configs, you can find the status sounds under the units cfgVehicles class - SoundInjured, SoundHitScream, SoundBurning etc. -
Reset the layout back to the preset. You may need to restart after that.

New vice city roleplay community
Greenfist replied to KoolMees's topic in ARMA 3 - FIND OR OFFER EDITING
Let me guess, the other two of you are the "ideas guys" and you're the designated spammer? (please post only one thread per subject) -
We don't know. Who says you're banned? And in what words exactly? Did you cheat?

I'm guessing x120 since that's the max for the setTimeMultiplier command. The module can of course limit it more. You could try 200 and then check the effective multiplier with timeMultiplier command. I don't remember if the normal setAccTime command stacks with it. You could have some fast times with those two combined.

Please nobody even think of touching the new map relief shading! It's absolutely perfect and very useful! Are there plans to add it to the in-game map too? And not just the editor?
