Imbel IA2 Rifle - v1.3 - DISCONTINUED
veles-zv replied to GSTAVO's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
cool it looks very nice, still a wip I would add some more wear on the rifle like some scratches, dirt/oil and worn spots similar to this https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/130/431125-1438222034.jpgit will really make the weapon look alive or something like this https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/130/431125-1422660220.jpg -

veles-zv replied to Apaches.1's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
no you cant play missions without the required content... the editor and missions made from it are directly related to each other. you cant build something without have the required materials... the only thing that are carried on from apex to normal arma is vehicles, weapons, and gear... your friend will not be able to play with you with missing content and yes content does include rocks or signs or anything that is not a ( vehicles, weapons or gear ) -

yeah I completely missed the point... " you can not open the editor with missing content " nor can your friend play without having the required content -
Enfusion engine is going to be used in future BIS titles which includes arma 4. dayz is just a test bed for it and not the be all/ end all final form of it either.

Project reality is just battlefield 2, it looks ugly, impossible to fly helicopters, makes shooting a rifle near impossible because of unneeded camera shake, and you play the same mission over and over and over again... Squad is literally the samething as project reality just with a cost of 40 USD which makes it 10 worse and the fact that they are not going to include planes is another big negative, lets get this straight you can not shoot in that game for you life, again with the pointless camara shake and the notchiness of aiming the rifle itself in an attempt of slowing gameplay down and i have the G502 one of the most accurate mouses on the market... insurgency is just call of duty hardcore with less flashy bs and more people hiding behind objects another arena shooter ... what is the problem with arena shooters? everyone knows all the points of interest in the map in red orchestra 2 everyone shoots and hides in the exact same place. why play any of these games when arma does everything these games can do but better? you cant compare lower tier games to the almighty game of which is arma the only thing which comes close is il-2, DCS/LOMAC/FC, steel beast, steel fury, steel armor, silent hunters

veles-zv replied to Apaches.1's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
YES you can not open the editor with missing content... including mods and official content unless you have them enabled, I think if you open the mission files in a text editor you can remove the requirements or placement of conflicting content such as finding the location of Tonoa rock and removing it from the lines then saving it. -
Arma 3 - How The Arma God's punish us
veles-zv replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I would say getting killed by a APC with an auto cannon because I was too lazy to set the Ai accordingly while flying in a helicopter... -
"You were kicked off the game." Really tired of this!
veles-zv replied to maximumak777's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
see you are playing arma all wrong which is why you are not able to join any server... try doing this instead https://units.arma3.comthen you can thank me later -
the rivers are not really rivers in arma they are Sea and Oceans, I personally do not know how to change the color of the water but I do know that in the Cup mod the water is green rather then the stock blue color. so it is 100% possible to change the color however if you have a large body of water such as a river flowing out to a ocean the ocean itself will be the same color as the river. however I have found a topic on the BIS forums https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/159197-change-color-of-the-sea/you will have to make your own material or get someone else to help you.

Russian navy boats (3D models)
veles-zv replied to grooovy's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
the model can be scaled up, almost no one makes a true 1:1 scale model in a 3d program most of us make them very large, and then scale them down to the correct size. -
spider webs are so 20 century, unicorn tusk are the new standard today...

veles-zv replied to grooovy's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
for ships you need to break down the models into sections. the limit a model can be in arma is 60 meters in any direction, you will have to combine them as proxies in the SDK tools which I Think is object builder. when you split the model down into sections they are technically there own object which means that each object can have a 22k tri limit. -

How To Make Great Looking Models For Arma Starter Guide
veles-zv posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Welcome if you are a complete Noob in making models for games I will teach you a few things ive learned, please feel free to add information on this topic for others to expand their knowledge ( 3d models only, no texturing, SDK, sound). 1) you will need a 3d editing program, (there are two programs which I have worked with and that is 3ds max 2014 and Blender.) you may be asking yourself or me down in the comment section, "what is the difference between 3ds max and blender" well the difference between them are very minor in what they can accomplish however what makes Blender my preferred tool is that blender is completely open sourced meaning that anyone can improve upon blender and its tools with scripts they even include all the good stuff later in future updates without the need to search on websites for them! another advantage to blender is that its completely free no bs licencing, student version ect ! it does everything that 3ds max does and more. tons of free tutorials on youtube for you to learn, dont forget blender.com and similar websites have great step by step tutorials encase you forgot how to do something but be warned blender has had many revisions done to it which has changed some things around what ive found is that anything newer then 2012 should be relevant to the current version of blender. :) 2) I know you want to open Blender and start fooling around with making your model but first you will need to educate yourself. here are some great youtubers who are really great at what they do. BlenderForNoobs > https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgg_IAVh6t8hV_Cd_6CNke7GPZ49NZado BornCG > https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLda3VoSoc_TR7X7wfblBGiRz-bvhKpGkS Blender Guru CG Masters CG Cookie Blender > Arrumus 3D > he does very good videos on how to make models in 3d programs but he uses 3ds max still there is so much you can learn from his videos and I highly recommend watching his videos once you have a decent understanding of blender. https://www.blender.org/manual/contents.html 3) ... Ok so finally you are ready to start making models in blender, first is to choose what you want to make... I recommend that you should choose a weapon first. ok so once that is done start looking for high res images on the internet which encompasses a wide amount of angles of what you are trying to model the more the better... start working on the left or right side first depending on the reference image you are using. be advised that some weapons have varying detail depending on a number of conditions for instance the SVD has a number of differences depending on year of production, the SVD 1963 model first production has a 3 holed hand guard on each side, receivers vary on production and country manufacture there are two types of military receivers type one with lighting cuts, type 2 which are smooth without magazine cutouts on the outside, there are 2 versions of flash hiders on standard SVD one a common and the other a rare early production for the 1963 to 64 models. for receiver covers there are 4 types of covers, the most common is the soviet model ribbed with side pinchs on the rear, 2) ribbed cover without pinchs, 3) angle cuts) 4 irak model which is distinctly different from all other types again I would like to stress the differences between weapons can vary from a simple screw head found on the left side to something such as a shortened barrel version of the same weapon... Start making your Highpoly gon model, a high polygon is used for baking the models detail in a low polygon model which is used in game. a good rule of thumb is to make anything that is made in one piece to remain in once piece on your model ( for instance a romanian akm has a ugly wooden forgrip made out of one piece this should be reflected in your model , however sometimes it can be beneficial do the complete opposite however this is rare. please do not make a model out of one single mesh this is a common rookie mistake! Low Polygon models are the in game meshes, the point of low poly models is to create efficient models for the game which reduce resource usage drastically, faux detail is baked on to the low poly model using the high poly/ floating geometry in the form of texture maps. low polygon models are in simple terms the silhouette of the model... Tips Always try to model your high polygon in Quads, tris are ok if no alternative can be made however can create issues. Use Mirror or symmetry modifier to reduce work load Use snapping for make repeating geometry Use the subdivision modifier when you are making your high poly this will reduce work load by a large amount and create a nice smooth model. Use Support edges when modeling a cutout such as a hole in a hand guard. this will make sharper detail when sub dividing modeling something cylindrical will always be close to scale when you use a reference image :D Dont be afraid of using floating geometry for recessed screw heads, hand guard cut outs and a few other things this will drastically reduce time in modeling your high poly model. Things like stamped lettering and fine checkering on a pistol like a 1911 can be done in Photoshop or similar programs wtih little headache, make repeating checkering in blender and bake them on a plain and use the normal maps textures in photoshop. Create an archive of meshes which can be used for future projects such as bolt heads, hex, slotted, Philips ect... Do try not to model things which will never be seen, for instance the internally trigger assemble of a weapon will never be seen... however a bolt head on a bolt of an automatic weapon will never be seen by the average player or if only for less then a second so go easy on the detail and try not to stress yourself on such useless detail. refer to your reference images ever so often Make constant saves of your work with different titles this is very easy to do in blender I will be adding images in the future. feel free to add content to the topic and never give up on doing something because its hard... if anything keep pushing or try again another day :) Low Polygon models are the in game -

Overclocking i7-4790k, does it really make a difference?
veles-zv replied to mcarma's topic in OFFTOPIC
depends, Ram at times can even have a bigger factor in Arma performance then a Good Cpu with horrible ram... DDR3 2400mhz vs 1866 Mhz is the equivalent of a 0.4 - 0.8ghz over clock 4gen I5 cpu to 4.8 ghz (stock 3.5) here is a graph showing Ram benchmarks http://cdn.overclock.net/d/d0/d0442906_iYvJYkq.png also if you are playing online FPS is limited to the server and the mission of which it is running. I7 vs I5 for games I5 wins... not worth the extra money for 1 fps difference and in most programs you wont notice much gain from hyper threading -
well they live in czech republic, 500,000 USD is like 2-3 million for them really. I can bet that the average pay for them is around 50,000 to 60,000 USD a year. its not like in america where the same person would make over 100,000 easy. the GDP is only 20,000 USD... also they have a good work ethic besides purchasing that T72... I only wish that they would stay on track with arma and not bounce around making a number of different games in the same production span, and also for them to stop catering to the general public by making the game dumbed down for novices.

awesome love these ships back in TOH I would land helicopter and even the AN-2 on top of it all the time, to bad they are static but its not such a big deal, also do the waves move it up and down or is it completely static?

Could the future setting have been done better?
veles-zv replied to MartinFromZeusCommunity's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The blufor rifles are HK m416 and M417 still a M4 as much as a cetme rifle is an HK weapon. The MX rifle is a combination of a few rifles, bushmaster ACR and a few other failure rifles, the F2000 for instance has incorrectly modeled iron sights, the real F2000 uses aperture sights with a large front post not pistol type sights, however i still very much like the F2000, -
most likely not until arma 4 arrives, I cant see Bis making any more Dlc for Arma 3, there will be small improvements
