mike070 10 Posted July 10, 2010 They need to add the AC130 in arma 2 that would be sooo cool what do you think?
ebanks129 10 Posted July 10, 2010 There was a private beta test! search the forums!
Flash Thunder 10 Posted July 10, 2010 its not official content but its already in the game I believe (MOD) I seen videos of it all over youtube soon it will incorporate OAs new FLIR mechanic and Countermeasure system
MavericK96 0 Posted July 10, 2010 That'd be sweet. They already have the C-130 IIRC. Just need to add some weapons on that bad boy and we'd have some ultimate air support.
ben_s 11 Posted July 10, 2010 Does the US Army actually use AC-130's that much?
swtx 42 Posted July 10, 2010 Does the US Army actually use AC-130's that much? Yes they do, they are an aging fleet of (I believe) 13 planes based in Florida. They are still seeing action as we speak in Afghanistan and Iraq. There was a piece about them of Future Weapons recently You can watch it here. I also read (somewhere) that most of the sensors and weapon systems were being upgraded and improved. If I remember right, the upgraded ships started service last year. You can keep up with the current AC130 release version for OA and A2 right here  http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=99545
ben_s 11 Posted July 10, 2010 But would the US Army use the AC-130 for just everyday combat?? I dont think its a high-priority thing that this game needs. As a transport plane. Then yes, but not as a gunship.

ben_s 11 Posted July 10, 2010 Good point. Lets get rid of them too :D
ebanks129 10 Posted July 10, 2010 there's a squadron of ac130s out here in NM so yeah their still pretty active you could say.
Erratic 10 Posted July 10, 2010 I only just watched a video the other day about how they are used far too much! So much that they are aging much more than expected.
Zipper5 74 Posted July 10, 2010 You can thank COD4 for that. :p While I'll admit it was both epic and original for them to include that sequence, they started a trend...
jakerod 254 Posted July 11, 2010 Does the US Army actually use AC-130's that much? Don't you remember when we were attacked by the giant transforming robots the first time? It was the AC-130 that did a lot of damage in its first run. Come on learn your modern history.
T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 11, 2010 Does the US Army actually use AC-130's that much? No, but the Air Force does.
ben_s 11 Posted July 11, 2010 No, but the Air Force does. lol, You know what I meant when I said that. :D But yes, im down with having a proper AC-130 model and stuff. Instead of ones added by the community. No offence, but most things are 10x better when BIS do it themselves ;)
HyperU2 11 Posted July 11, 2010 Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942 had a great AC130. It sometimes seems that we're moving the other direction.
ben_s 11 Posted July 11, 2010 I think the AC-130 Gunship would be a nice addition, but I wouldn't really rate it high. Having it would be cool, but its over-rated.
kremator 1065 Posted July 11, 2010 I think the AC-130 Gunship would be a nice addition, but I wouldn't really rate it high.Having it would be cool, but its over-rated. It already exists ! Check out Lurchiderlurch's thread in COMPLETE
Imperator[TFD] 444 Posted July 12, 2010 Yeah I'd like to see the AC-130 added........just so I can shove an Igla up it's overrated large bloaty metal tail pipe. ;) Seriously, can you think of an easier target to hit with AA than a big fat C-130 doing circles of the battlefield? That thing would be absolutely useless in Warfare too.

Nicholas 5 Posted July 12, 2010 They have counter-measures now for AA.
Imperator[TFD] 444 Posted July 12, 2010 Countermeasures aren't a gauranteed protection against AA though right? ( I dont have OA yet )
MrAgentGuy 10 Posted December 21, 2010 Its been a while, so just owndering if anyone knows if an ac130 model was ever made for arma 2 or OA?
AnimalMother92 10 Posted December 21, 2010 Yes, there was one made but iirc it used a lot of the BIS C130 model and had to remain an "underground" release.
avengerzx 10 Posted December 21, 2010 I suspected someone made this LVyeEWXkF60 Since someone said it is illegal though (I don't understand)
