This might sound bit stupid or embarrassing... how many had been killed by our friendly AI troops or vehicles who can't seems to know when to stop shooting when they turns around and face another direction... most of the time towards you... that why you are killed....

I for one had tonnes of times... Just like to know how many others had this wonderful experience. :j:

Don't know about that, but I have been killed by friendly AI-controlled AH-1Z helicopters while playing as a foot soldier.

I've actually never been shot by friendlies. Being run over by friendly vehicles, however...

I've been hit by infantry friendlies, but never wounded to the point of dying. Vehicles are a different story, I've been ran over, blown up by 'friendly' air support and was even used as a mobile landing site by a transport chopper on one occasion.....

Only a few times it has struck me, but other AI has not been that lucky. Vehicle accidents are more frequent. A bit more worrying are the saboteurs who can't wait until everyone is at a safe distance: "Fire in the hole!!" - 0.31 seconds later - KABOOM - everyone dead.

It should have been "Charges set" - all moveTo - waitUntil {all clear} - "Fire in the hole!!" - 0.31 seconds later - KABOOM - all safe.

gotta be honest with you, i never run in front of the ai.

Well, sometimes you don't need to be in front of the AIs to see that happen.

Yeah I have to say its happened to me once or twice, and I've seen it happen to WAY too many AI controlled team-mates, especially if its a larger squad.

Worst culprits of course are anyone wielding a squad automatic weapon, as they tend to get up from prone still firing and swing their weapon out in a loop still firing as they stand, often peppering the poor bastard next to them resulting in the oh-so familiar call "5 check your fire!!"... "7 is down".

Alternatively there's the light armoured vehicle gunners, who while they don't have the ability to go prone, will engage a target with the main gun, start firing rapidly, then after about 4 shots start to wonder "what's over in this direction?" and turn to look, still idly pulling the trigger on the bushmaster, and skewer the poor bastard who's standing up to sprint forward on the left flank with a 25 mm round through the grape.

It doesn't happen to me too often to be an issue, but in all honesty, I'd rather the frequency of blue on blue AI stuff due to this was reduced a little, there's enough factors that result in AI squad attrition without this one making it worse...

The reason this happens.

It's all to do with AIs using bursts.

Many weapons are configged to use bursts by the AI. I suggest you look at the M249 for an example, if my memory serves, there is a couple of AI only bursts in there. Bursts are used to maintain a smidge of realism by AI gunners, because most SAWs aren't fired one bullet at a time.

When an AI starts a burst, they cannot stop it. For example, when a SAW gunner starts a burst, he may kill the target in one shot, THEN get up and continue moving - the rest of the rounds meant to be fired in that burst WILL come out of the barrel at the earliest opportunity, regardless of aim. The burst may be interrupted - in some animations, shooting is impossible - but the rest of the burst will still be expended at the earliest opportunity.

Same goes for APCs/tanks - they may kill the enemy with their first cannon round, THEN turn the turret away and spray 25 mike mike everywhere.

Just for a bit of information. Of course, if you are killed whilst zagging in front of a friendly, you've probably got only yourself to blame.

I reckon never to use column formations as that makes the AI stand RIGHT behind me! can't blame me for standing in front of them sometimes...

Hi all

Most Blue on Blue is caused by human players.

Primarily the person who got shot.

Just the same as in reality 90% of Blue on Blue is caused by humans ramboing and not being in the position they are supposed to be. This tactical failing to hold the line also often costs the whole team and not just the stupid usualy human numpty who crosses his own soldiers line of fire.

When are humans going to loose the habit of crossing their fire teams arcs?

I speak as some one who also occasionaly does the same stupid numpty crossing my fire teams arcs. :o

When moving lateraly pull back ten to twenty metres behind the line then do the lateral move so you do not make this numpty error.

Kind Regards Walker

Actually, I usually shoot my AI because they wander into my field of fire and when I'm using a sight I don't see them walk in front of me.

I've not been shot by this but have seen it happen to friendly a.i many times.

i have however been ran over many times and witnessed allied tanks/cars etc just drive right through whole squads of friendlies and yet they stop for chickens or cows.

Yeah once or twice. But then I've killed thousands of AI single handedly so I'm not really worried about them getting a couple of lucky shots off.

If anything, i've been teamkilled by AI after i hop in an enemy mounted machinegun, or when some rambo AI car with an MG gets decrewed and i try to use the MG. The AI treats empty vehicles (that have had enemy units in them) as a higher priority than actual enemy troops/vehicles, or at least in my experience they do.

This isn't about crossing in front of them, it's when the target is at 12 o'clock and you end up getting shot while standing to the 3 o'clock of the AI.

We are talking bout getting shot by friendly blue on blue, not from enemy.

Unless you are a team killer. ;)

I love it when they fire while running as well!! i remember it in ofp, id have an army of infantry and then one guy looks like he's lost the plot while he jumps up and runns towards you, firing blindly his PK. lol

The worst thing is when some AI, thinks its a good idea to closely inspect your anus, during combat. He then clearly thinks there should be some sort of 5.56mm hole in you combats, so he can get a better look
