sickboy 13 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) Tnx Total :) There should be no need to export stuff. If you just run mods from the SU network, just setup your server with the mods. When the users start SU, they can select your server on the Servers datagrid, and when they click 'Create preset WITH server', a preset will be created with your server, and the mods are automatically loaded from the -mod= line from you server. Each time you change the -mod= line on the server, the clients will automatically change with. If you would like more control, and/or host custom mods/versions that are not on the SU network, please check out zSync repository setup; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+zSync_Setup Just add the zSync link to your servername, and the users can use the same procedures as listed above, to get access to your server's mods etc and even missions if you like. If you like we can meet on Wave or Skype (textchat) to discuss. Edited February 21, 2011 by Sickboy

Lt Gunner 10 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm having an issue Sickboy. I searched through the thread to try to find an answer, but no luck. I have a Steam version of both games installed (A2 and OA) and run combined arms with no issue. However the Six updater has issues detecting that i have CO installed. With the original version of Six updater i was able to go into Configuration/Settings and edit the default setting and force it into the CO mode and keep the Acex_RU up to date. I recently installed the SU 2.1 and am having problems doing the same task. The very first time I opened the SU 2.1 I was able to go into profiles and set the A2 OA Any (Auto Detect) profile to ArmA2OACo. I hit save, and after a bit of delay things looked as they should. However the next time I opened SU 2.1, things were back to default, and I cant repeat the initial success I had. No matter what I do now (Reinstall/Restarts), I can never get ACEX_RU to show up as compatible. I feel that a possible solution in the future could possibly be to allow selection of both .exe files, arma 2 and OA in the settings, rather than just a single .exe file. As it is I can only get SU 2.1 to detect that I have ArmA2, or OA, but never both. It would be nice to have this functionality for those of us on Steam. sickboy 13 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) @Total22; Cool! Please let me know either way, also when success :) @Lt Gunner; All you have to do is select the A2 OA Combined Ops profile at the top, to force CO detection of seperate installation; http://i52.tinypic.com/30vn4hx.png You can leave the path and exe fields blank. In case you did game repair/reinstall over steam you must first launch arma2 standalone, and then OA, at least once, to put the necessary game registry keys in place. Hocking 10 Posted February 22, 2011 I am having a major issue attempting to clone a preset. Basically, what I am trying to do is clone a preset and then add mods to that preset that I want Six-Updater to keep updated. I mainly play SP, so I really just want to choose the mods that I want and have six-updater do the rest. From what I understand, this is what I should do: 1) Clone a preset by right clicking on it and choosing Clone. I have tried to Clone the "A2 OA - A.C.E." preset as well as various server presets that use A.C.E. 2) Then, after cloning a preset, I simply add the mods that I want to it and Six-Updater keeps everything up-to-date from there. I can call my cloned preset whatever I want. The problem is that when I attempt to clone a preset to do this, I get an "unimplemented' message and nothing else happens. If I attempt to add a particular mod to a preset without cloning, the added mod is removed from the presets mod list when the next update check runs. What am I don't wrong, or what do I need to do to add mods of my choosing to presets so they remain there going forward. Thanks for any help.
TOTAL22 0 Posted February 22, 2011 Custom application support is coming along nicely as well; Teamspeak3 and Mumble are currently supported. If a server has a configuration url set (for zSync and apps), and either teamspeak or mumble is configured, the updater can launch the apps on startgame/join arma server actions (or manually), and join the correct teamspeak/mumble server for this clan/community/server. If there are any other apps people feel should be supported, please let me know. Hi again, I've found this post and I wanted to ask how we can use this feature currently? And if there will be support for auto-launching aceclippi.exe/TrackIR5.exe/Dxtory.exe ... and so on?

Currently you can manually launch any tool available in modfolders, like @ACE\aceclippi.exe from the Tools menu.Teamspeak/Mumble support when setup on zSync configuration file, can be manually launched from SrvApps combobox and auto-launched during startgame/join server actions. Actions like putting JayArmalib's dsound.dll into the game exe folder can be launched manually from the ModApps combobox. I have not yet added support for truelly external user tools like TrackIR5/DXTory etc. But adding support for it should be a breeze. sickboy 13 Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) Cool, nice, superb, excellent, outstanding, yahoo. :D It's up - sorry for the delay, had an emergency at work and a weird bug that left the datagrid fields empty upon load...But all sorted. Just restart the software and find the new Apps datagrid. http://i56.tinypic.com/9uuszs.png You can manually launch from there, or if you check the autolaunch checkbox on an app, and have 'AutoStartApps' enabled in the Options Ribbon, it will auto launch upon Startgame/Join etc actions. Currently you need to manually type/copy the paths - Open File dialog will be added next days. ---------- Post added at 11:52 ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 ---------- I'm happy to announce the release of SU 2.1 Stable: http://dev-heaven.net/news/524 Work on Milestone 2.2 will commence soon. Sorry but i have to gripe about something. :D Seriously though, thanks for the hard work and no doubt time you've put into this useful & must have app'! ;)

Beckwith-USSOCOM- 10 Posted March 5, 2011 (edited) Having an issue with Six Updater. I just upgraded to Windows 7. Redownloaded ArmA2, ArmA2: Operation ArrowHead. I ran both and ran it as Combined ops. I opened Six Updater, and it will not run when I try to install it. Also, before you ask, I do have .NET Framework 4.0. I checked my PC and I do have it. I did not need to download and install it, as Windows 7 installed and updated it for me. Penfolde 1 Posted March 7, 2011 Hello Sickboy I know u have releases 2.2 but i cannot figure out how to set up my host/dedicated server using the new Windows/tabs with my own mod list. Is this function enabled yet or have you some instruction on" How to"? Penfolde
sickboy 13 Posted March 8, 2011 The dedicated server configuration section is not yet functional, soon hopefully. If you already have a dedicated server config file etc etc, you can enable the 'server' checkbox, specify the server.cfg at Edit Tools -> Profile -> Additional Options -> config field. Arparso 10 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) The Six Updater 2.1.0 doesn't seem to work for me at all. Install works fine, although I don't get any icons and have to browse to the install folder manually to start the tool. When first trying to start Six Updater GUI, it seems to update itself properly... but then it crashes when trying to start the GUI again. When I now try to start the GUI exe manually, it tells me I don't have the necessary rights to do so (doesn't even ask for admin privileges like it did the first time). Even stranger, the GUI exe and a couple of other files seem to disappear after a short while (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes immediately after the first update). The uninstall procedure also doesn't remove all files from the install folder - a few are left for me to manually delete and I even have to first change access rights to these files in order to even be able to do so. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with UAC enabled. Tried both installing in "Program Files (x86)" and in a separate, unprotected folder - neither of which seemed to make a difference. Net Framework 4 is installed. I heavily suspect my user account setup to be responsible for this strange behaviour, as I'm normally using a standard user account without admin privileges. When an application requests admin rights (as Six Updater does), I elevate the process by entering the credentials of an admin account (which is a completely different Windows user account). Somehow this seems to seriously fuck up access rights during the update process, which in turn kills my Six Updater installation. /edit: Nope, installing directly under the admin account didn't work either. When trying to start the GUI exe, it still tells me I don't have the necessary rights for that. When examining the security-related properties of the file, it even fails to show me the current owner of the file (and changing the owner to my user or admin account doesn't work for some reason...) Edited March 8, 2011 by Arparso
sickboy 13 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) Could be. Someone else experienced likewise issues and they were resolved after rebooting his machine, perhaps you can give that a spin. The whole point of UAC btw is that you can always use a user with administrator rights, while everything by default is ran without the administrator right, only when accepting UAC prompt the processes are elevated, but I guess you are more comfortable with the added layer of protection by needing to enter admin password. In any case, you can easily confirm which is the problem by logging on with your administrator account and trying the same process. Did you not even receive a desktop shortcut, or did you not choose to install such? You can disable auto-self-update btw; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Overview#Commandline%20parameters Edited March 8, 2011 by Sickboy
Arparso 10 Posted March 8, 2011 but I guess you are more comfortable with the added layer of protection by needing to enter admin password. Exactly. UAC itself doesn't really add much protection and can be circumvented easily when running with an admin account - even Microsoft doesn't really call it a security feature. Using a standard user account without admin rights is still the preferred method concerning security - the UAC is just a convenient way to not having to switch accounts all the time, just to install some tool or whatever. Like I edited into my first post, installing directly under the admin account didn't work either, though - same error. At least I got the desktop shortcut there - guess it's installed on the admin account's desktop only (since the installer also has to run under the admin account, due to UAC). I've seen this a few times with other installers as well, so that's not an issue exclusive to Six Updater. Anyway, the icon doesn't really concern me - the updater not running does, however. I'll try rebooting and/or disabling the auto update, although I'd prefer that feature to work.
sickboy 13 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) I cannot reproduce the issues myself, with UAC enabled, a normal user account and a user account in the administrator group (not 'administrator') it seems to work fine - install, self update, and launch, and relaunch afterwards etc. Always asks for the password of the admin account. Desktop and StartMenu icons appeared under the administrator account - which is expected because in this situation you do not launch the setup under your own account but under the admin account. I suppose I can solve that by installing the icons for all users, instead of the user who installs the software. http://dev-heaven.net/issues/18120 ---------- Post added at 13:58 ---------- Previous post was at 13:10 ---------- SU Portal Stats expanded! http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Updater_Portal_New_stats Edited March 8, 2011 by Sickboy
