[frl]myke 14 Posted March 19, 2010 Topic: prohibition of Killergames (still no one can exactly define the meaning of "Killergame"). Actually a group of people came up with the idea that a prohibition of Killergames isn't the right way (OMFG, what a surprise) but instead including some sort of "Law of War" (sorry, don't know the correct english sentence) into any sort of Wargame would be a good idea. So, player gets punished if he kills unarmed civilians, if he punishs enemies more than "necessary" to reach the mission goal. In short, law and order and the conventions of geneva applied into the game. Now, in the ArmA 2 campaign, in the very first mission, you had to destry a mobile radio facility. First plan was to mark the target with laser designator and then call in the bombers. But after recognizing the target you realise that a bomb run would cause extreme collateral damage to the village, the radio facility standed in. At this point you had to make a choice: call in the bomber anyway or try to destroy the target with a satchel charge. The second choice is far more dangerous for you and your team but it would protect the village. Now i'm curious about your choice: did you call the bomber or did you go the "satchel-way"? nettrucker 142 Posted March 19, 2010 Hi Myke I planted the satchel charge, otherwise it would have been less fun.:D regards
Alex72 1 Posted March 19, 2010 Placed the satchel after clearing the area. I admit the first time i encounter that choice i was sweating a bit and thaught it was a very nice mission choice. But even though a game as it is i chickened out and went all Swedish. No collateral here no siree. Cant make the natives think were monsters. So clear the area of baddies, plant the satchel, shout to the whole village "CLEAR!" and blasted it. Mission accomplished :D
[GLT] Legislator 66 Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) I placed a satchel ... GBU's are for girls in that mission :D However I wouldn't have used satchel's if the area was crowded with enemies. Sorry civs but this is a warzone. Edit: Now I get it :) It's not about prohibiting killer games in general .. Switzerland actually did it. Will it lead to "Is ArmA II a killer game or not"? mr burns 132 Posted March 19, 2010 Was opting for the bomb run but somehow mission design went bezerk on me and i had to go with the satchels, can´t remember really, too long ago. Bottom line: They´re only damn pixels :D
4 IN 1 0 Posted March 19, 2010 I satchel the target before even clear the area, even that was a bit too easy for me(hell, satchel the shilka in one of the SF mission back in OFP days is much more difficult then in ARMA)
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 19, 2010 Shit, there are two blokes standing around who didn't even notice when I high-jumped the sandbags two scant metres away. Why not satchel?
[frl]myke 14 Posted March 19, 2010 @Legislator Switzerland did not. Some Politicians try to achieve this but before such a law becomes valid, the swiss citizens have to vote about it. It is not possible that politicians can bring up new laws by theyr own will....they may try but we, the crowd, have the very last word.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Thanks for reminder - going to try to call the bomber. Just to see if and how missions do change according to this player decision. Stones are stones and pixels are pixels.

max power 21 Posted March 19, 2010 I went for the satchel because I want to achieve the best possible outcome when I play games... but every fibre of my being was aching to see a 500lbs bomb level their shit.
jw custom 56 Posted March 20, 2010 I haven't played the campaign but if i did i would have missed a nuke option :D
sudayev 27 Posted March 20, 2010 When there is an option to choose from, I always go for planting satchels.
maturin 12 Posted March 20, 2010 That mission had a total of three Riflemen running around. The others just sat in a courtyard waiting to be killed. I was an utter newb and still couldn't see any reason to bomb the place instead of walking over the generator, and having a smoke on the way.
TangoRomeo 10 Posted March 25, 2010 Went with demolitions, thought it would be more challenging, resulting in a higher mission rating. It probably would have been a more healthy dose of reality to just lase the target from a safe distance, or have some UAV/ TLAM on it. It´s not games, it's the crushing dissapointments of the real world, turning kids into mentally disordered individuals.
