walker 0 Posted February 11, 2010 Hi all I wonder if a compatibility version will be released? I wonder if the US version will have auto Uninstall feature for Blue on Blue in the training missions that the UK version has? Kind Regards walker
raedor 8 Posted February 11, 2010 I wonder if a compatibility version will be released? Do you mean a version with UK and US content? I'd doubt that, as then it comes close to "VBS2 for free" ...
walker 0 Posted February 11, 2010 Hi raedor I was thinking of a NATO wide version. I also wonder if the military will use it as tool to assess what missions to make and who the good mission makers in their country are? Kind Regards walker
NoRailgunner 0 Posted February 11, 2010 walker did you read the newsletter: NATO to deploy VBS and VBS2 Personal Edition (PE) Released We now offer a new version of VBS2 for ‘serious’ gamers, titled VBS2 Personal Edition (PE). VBS2 PE is more limited than the general version of VBS2 and includes a no-commercial use end user license agreement. VBS2 PE is about one third the price of VBS2 full. Through VBS2 PE we aim to build a serious gamer and academic user base that will help the VBS2 community grow. VBS2 PE can be purchased through our Sales Team at sales@vbs2.com. walker 0 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) Hi NoRailgunner No I missed that one. LOL I new that NATO had an integrated version of VBS2 full version, but this one got past me. But it is good see. :) The academic use aspect is significant. You can do an awful lot of experimentation and research with VBS, I expect to see an increase in academic papers using VBS. I hope we will see a first responder VBS Lite too. Kind Regards walker Edited February 11, 2010 by walker
HotShot 0 Posted February 11, 2010 The ability to deploy a VBS2 Lite/PE to everyone first seemed a little over the top, but I just saw one of Dslyecxi's videos of a new version of VBS2 ( ) and I've changed my mind. The speed in which to make brand new terrain and the magnitude of realism that it seems to have now appears to offer massive advances on pre-mission training (as in a run through of a mission a few hours before its carried out). That guy 10 Posted March 9, 2010 might have to check it out this through AKO or something?
gabe_ruckus 5 Posted March 10, 2010 It's through the Army Milgaming portal, you can get there through google, AKO, or BCKS. I'm really screwed out here, I don't have a CAC reader on my personal laptop. The release docs state there are no distribution restrictions, so I hope some unofficial mirrors go up soon, but I don't think that there's very widespread knowledge of the release or even that the software exists. rstratton 0 Posted March 12, 2010 Want a copy of VBS2 Lite for you or your unit? Here is how to obtain one: Go to this link: https://milgaming.army.mil/ Once at the MilGaming Portal do the following: 1. Click on the "Downloads" menu item 2 Select "VBS2 USArmy Lite" by clicking on it. 3. Click the "VBS2Lite-2-18-10.zip" file link. Notes: 1. This compressed file is 2.24GB in size so expect a very lengthy download. 2. This is a "zip" file so you will need to download it to your hard drive and "unzip" it. 3. You will need a CAC card at the present time to access this site. 4. To lessen impact on the NIPRNet we recommend that only one person download this for their command, copy to DVD-Rs and distribute those DVD-Rs to everyone else. 5. A computer will need a 512MB or better graphics card to run this application. 6. A certificate of networthiness does exist and is available from the MilGaming Community of Practice for this application. 7. There are no distribution restrictions for this application and anyone can have a copy of it. 8. This military application may be installed and operated on home computers. source http://www.strategypage.com/militaryforums/478-4665.aspx
