76 0 Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) 584 multiplayer missions made by the community all renamed following a slightly altered version of Celerys Mission Name Standard (*note these missions do not require addons) 193 COOP missions 391 PvP missions These missions have come from the community... Armaholic, Bi forums User Missions, Dev-heaven, Armed Assault Info, SBS etc etc websites, and are not my own, they have just been renamed to make selecting the appropriate mission alot quicker and easier for admins. alleycat 28 Posted January 11, 2010 Not a good idea. You should ask the makers first if they allow it. If a mission for example is updated quickly again, and reposted, your pack will miss it. Means players will play a possibly outdated version and get a bad impression. Also DOWN WITH NAME CONVENTIONS! CONFORMITY SUCKS! -I actually mean it.
fincuan 0 Posted January 11, 2010 DOWN WITH NAME CONVENTIONS! CONFORMITY SUCKS! -I actually mean it. Conformity is a must. Try being an admin picking a mission when you have a hundred to choose from and thirty players screaming for blood. You'll quickly change your opinion. celery 8 Posted January 11, 2010 Up to the mission designer. takes longer to make a mission than picking it from a list It takes a few seconds of the mission maker's time to write a sensible name for the mission so it can be found on the server. To be frank I think that any mission maker who deliberately tries to make his mission stand out with special characters in order for it to appear at the top of the mission list is a bit of a dickhead. Now imagine several of those dickheads doing that same thing, in addition to others who each follow one of several naming standards and those who couldn't care less about how people are supposed to find their missions, and you have the general idea of how easy it is to find a specific mission on a server with hundreds of missions. Means players will play a possibly outdated version and get a bad impression. This is a concern for me, as this is just a repack of 'others' work... it is impossible to contact all the mission makers so all I could really do was release it and if I did receive complaints I would remove it. As for missions being outdated thats ok, with this pack server admins are now upto speed and can continue renaming new releases and deleting old ones... :) Its not conforming, with over 400 missions you need as much help as possible selecting the right map... ppl start telling admins to 'hurry up' even when they find a mission quickly. :) Please ANY mission maker that object to me posting/uploading these renamed missions of your, please ask me to remove it... I respect and understand either way :) thx PS I don't have a good place to upload this file, all the upload sites are a bit of a pain (limited dl's etc), waiting to see if anyone objects before it goes up in places like Armoholic. Ill up it again somewhere and link it here. :) Edited January 11, 2010 by
gonk 0 Posted January 11, 2010 Until there is a better game brower... one with sort/search/filters/bookmarks, naming conventions is the best way to find what you want.... Let hope BIS have some spare time to alter the browser in the future. Thanks

Very true. Also some mission names do not tell how many players are allowed resulting in people dropping out when selecting a mission.
Galet 10 Posted January 12, 2010 impossible download
76 0 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) impossible download Yeah sorry Galet, I do have an FTP I can upload to but its in transit atm :( I don't want to pay to upload this at megaupload or rapidshare and as a 'guest' you only get so much (not much at all) Armaholic is hesitant to upload it to their site as they don't want to upset any mission makers so they are just watching to see the reaction it gets first, I completely understand and stand by there decision as it is essentially me renaming others work and posting it (though I am not putting my name to it.... the 'author' in the submit page is 'The Community'. This is mainly for server admins whom have large amounts of missions and would maybe like some order to it :) Cheers 76 Edited January 13, 2010 by
Tom_Anger 0 Posted January 13, 2010 It may be a good idea to scout popular missions and do this every so often. At some point others will get the hint and conform. The problem occurs when folks like myself who will put out an enhanced version every month or 2 and don't go by standard convention. As far as I knew I am using the standard naming convention. Gametype | Player Slots | Mission Name | Version So for example - this is what you will see in some of my mission names TDM32 Depot Station v1.03 TDM32 3 LIVES-Depot Station v1.03 C&H32 TKOTH Depot Station v1.03 CTF32 Depot Station v1.03 AAD32 Depot Station v1.03 In your revisions you have the additional 2 characters [] indicating the gamemode. I like that idea so I may use that in future releases.

76 0 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) In your revisions you have the additional 2 characters [] indicating the gamemode. I like that idea so I may use that in future releases. I wish BI fixed it so that you could have spaces, fullstops and the other few characters without it replacing them with '%20' etc lol also it would be nice if BI fixed the character limit for mission names (not sure what it is but its not enough) I just renamed all of your updated missions :) I think there is one more pack isn't there :S I get a little lost :D I pretty much go..... [Game mode and max player number]Clan tag if any, mission name, version [DM08]CLY_TequilaSunrise_v86b [KOH32]UrbanResistance_v1-03 [C&H24]KND_Airfield_v1 [C&H128]Berzerk2-Berezino_v85 etc... I do find it strange that ppl put in all that effort making a great mission and then name their mission.... 'airfield_strike' no mention of mission type or player numbers, I mean its their mission and they can name it how they like :) I guess I'm just pedantic (bloody virgos) PS awesome missions FATMAN (Tom), I've left comment on Armaholic, and rated'em... Maybe here FileFront? On it :) soz bro, I'm not much into uploading files... never needed to use public FTPs but shes uploading now (with 30+ new missions since first post) So I'll put a link here ASAP... give it 60min EDIT: @Tom, I think I've given your C&H missions the wrong name maybe... I've classed them as King of the Hill (KOH) I only noticed one capture area and assumed it was KOH... if its wrong I can easily correct it. Me too, I'm going to do it this way. I appreciate 76's efforts. It got me off my lazy ass to update my own missions, and has made me aware of several other good missions I would have passed up otherwise.
celery 8 Posted January 13, 2010 By the way, what's the point of the brackets, edited version numbers, removed spaces and/or added underscores? IMHO it makes a mission list heavy on the eyes for no gain. [DM08]CLY_TequilaSunrise_v86b (not my dm by the way, mine is called Sunshine) [KOH32]UrbanResistance_v1-03 [C&H24]KND_Airfield_v1 [C&H128]Berzerk2-Berezino_v85 vs. DM 08 Tequila Sunrise v0.86b KOH 32 Urban Resistance v1.03 C&H 24 KND Airfield v1 C&H 128 Berzerk 2 Berezino v0.

It took a couple of days with input from some of our members on what was good, bad or ugly and it just ended up this way... I have since realized that ppl that use stupid symbols to get their mission on the top have to know which symbol beats '[' to succeed... but other than that I do kinda like it as it separates the important mission info (type, max players) from the aesthetic part (mission name). The reason they are named like this in the briefing is so that there can be no confusion from the file name as other admins also add and remove missions to/from our server and I'd have to slap them for messing up my pride and joy :P I had 200+ on the server before I decided we could of done it more like your example as it is a tad heavy on the eye... might sit down with a big mix bowl and get to work :) There will be a collection of cards with a modded AСE2? Haven't done so yet, I'll wait till ACE is out of beta first... not sure if ppl will have to update there missions with certain releases of ACE as well as updating for bug fixes, improvements etc which could double the work load of renaming.... but yes would like to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This repack will be revised and removal of all of Xeno's :cry2: missions... pity... koos Edited January 14, 2010 by
