Who here has made such a claim?

I'm not even sure what it means.   Don't you think that if any military organisation as well equipped as the IDF were actually to "target" such visible segments of the population the operation would be over quite quickly?

According to your source of statistics, of the 1600 total Palestinian fatalities:

noncombatants = 38%

children = 25%

women = 8%

Whether they were "targeted" or not, I'm not convinced that killing all those women and children has made Israel a safer place.

What is the probability that a military organisation could cause so much collateral damage, but never any friendly fire incidents?  What are the odds that stray IDF bullets, that never find Israeli soldiers or settlers, have accidently killed around 400 Palestinian kids?

Israeli troops have shot dead a 95-year-old woman

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Fatima Hasan died from at least one bullet in the back as she sat in a vehicle at a checkpoint outside the city, witnesses said.

Two other women were reportedly injured. "The soldiers were running towards us, shooting in all directions," said 41-year-old Kifaya Rafat, another passenger who was wounded in the thigh during the incident. "They started to hit the windows of the car."

She added that the after breaking the windows the troops retreated and began shooting at the vehicle from a distance.

Have you realized most of this thread is just a few same people convincing a person who completely believes all the shit that the media spill out about the ME and are totally supportive of the WAT into the reality that Israel is evil and America is evil and then another new person comes along and the process id repeated with new evidence of attrocities etc.

Quite funny really, but totally pointless as the ignorant will always be replaced.

I sound strangely philosophical. Very unlike me.

You might be right.  Sometimes I wonder what affect the Internet might have had during the Nazi Holocaust.  Probably not much.  sad.gif

How about this for a solution, we get the SAS to kill them both (Arafat and Sharon) and do it the good old fashioned way, we British occupy Israel and give Palestine all of Israel's weapons and turn Israel into a British ruled policed state and we would give all the Palestinian's land back to them and have the UN come in and sort out nice agreements and say to the Palestinians that now Israel is under control of the British bombing it is like bombing Britain, and that would be an end to that mess and the start of a lovely new one!

And this will go on as long as humans control the planet.

LOL... You've just described the way Palestine was in 1939, which only lasted about 8 years. ...And you know why?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Eighty-four thousand troops had proved insufficient to maintain law and order in the face of a campaign of terrorism waged by highly organised Jewish forces equipped with all the weapons of the modern infantryman.  Since the war 338 British subjects had been killed in Palestine, while the military forces there had cost the British taxpayer 100 million sterling.  The declared intentions of Jewish extremists showed that the loss of further British lives was inevitable.  In these circumstances His Majesty's Government decided to bring to an end their mandate and to prepare for the earliest possible withdrawal from Palestine of all British forces.-- British Foreign Office in the NY Times, 14 May, 1948<span id='postcolor'>

Well at least some one understood my joke tounge.gif

If only Britain still had it's empire, the world would be a much better place.......lol

But seriously i think Sharon is the worst because now he doesn't really care about anything but trying to get re elected so he's launching huge strikes on 'suspected militias' and basically just fuelling the situation.

I can't understand why people are so behind Israel (maybe it's a religion thing) but in my opinion it's Israel's fault there is such violence in the ME.

How many palestinian tanks are in Israeli towns?

How many palestinian gunships are deploying weapons against Israeli civillian targets?

Palestine is not the agressor, it is a region wanting independence, much like Chechnya from the Russian federation but then Israel and Russia say no and use force to emphasize their point so the people rebel, under our amazing new light on the horizon (Gun Wanking Bush) they are so called terrorist and can be treated as sub human.

Russia was being inspected for war crimes in Chechnya and now it's strangely been swept under the carpet as the Chechnyan rebels are now 'terrorists'.

People's point of views very much depend on where they are located and I would like it if some of you paranoia freaks could come out of the bunker and say where you are located (namely Bernadotte lol) tounge.gifbiggrin.gif

I'm in Wales in the UK and i've taken the www.politicalcompasstest.org test and i'm next to Ghandi

(Lefty and liberal) so my points of view are probably going to be different to those of (get ready for blatant stereotyping) someone from Texas.

lol

Clearly you're babbling,no?

Bernadotte posts have somewhat changed my view on this situation.I used to be pro isreali,but now I'm as neutral as can be (a good thing ihmho).You can't 'ally' with,and defend the causes of either parties,since they're both 'wrong' to support.

Sharon is way too agressive,and Arafat is way too stubborn.

(EDIT : The requested info,I'm from flanders,belgium.On the test I wasn't too far from ghandi either.)

The trouble is they are not particulary loyal.

The US gives billions to Israel, and in return gets spied upon, shouted down whenever they try to do something good for the region, and gets a US Navy ship blown to pieces, killing 35 Americans.

Loyal Allies indeed.

Thanks, I did post a thread about it before entitled 'Biting the hand that feeds you'.

It was going well until Avon starting calling me a antisemite, which for the record I'm not. I dislike the Goverment, the people in charge, and the actions of the country, but I do not base views on peoples faith. (People have been doing that for years and look how many people have died).

And lo and behold, shortly after the Middle East thread was born. Huzzah!

Here Here!

It is not because of Jewish religion that I do not like the actions taken by the Jews, who are in power.
