How to climb Giant Communications Tower ?

Recommended Posts

Hey I enter the door - run along the coridor

climb the ladder and reach a floor where there is a door to the platform outside

How do I climb the ladder on the wall and open the red trapdoor to the next floor ?

Are there any more obstacles to climbing the whole tower ?:yay:

Haha, now that would be cool, Im guessing though they did not make a precise collision model though. You would most likely just fall and not be able to get onto the higher platform.

This is correct, I've tried.

Believe it.

Any plans to make it so in a future patch though? Would be pretty awesome to create a huge battle in the area in the editor, then spectate it from all the way up there :)

+100000.

This is clearly the most important and pressing issue that exists in ArmA2 today.

Me not BIS so no idea about that. :)

But yes would be very nice if we could climb up higher up that thing. By looking at the model it probably was planned before. We will see I guess.

:p im sure there are other issues to deal with first, but it would be pretty cool, especially on a PC that can run with maximum view distance, the view would be awesome from up there!

Funny thing about tall structures in video games. Put one in the game and pretty much every single player will want to get to the top of it. BIS had to know this when they made it and I really don't think they intend on allowing it because it's more fun to read threads like this.

Ha ha too right! I remember when BF2 came out, I used to climb those big cranes, leave a couple of claymores on the ladders so people couldnt come after me & shoot people with impunity! The only thing I had to fear was running out of ammo or other snipers

It's possible to get up there, just not climb around it. Just fiddle with setPos or even just placing yourself at different places and it will put you at different elevations. I setPos'd myself right on the tip before, and set view distance to 10km. I think I actually did that when I first got the game. Was blown away, naturally.

If I saw someone climbing that I'd wait until they get to the very top of the ladder and plink them....

Or, alternatively, set up a HALO jump near the tower and try to land on its very tip. At Night, in the rain and with fog, to make it a little challening.

Seriously, though, I´ve scoured even the woods around the thing in search for an invisible rope or something to get up there.

Possibly it would be a fun challenge to try and land a helicopter on the tip too, so that it doesn´t fall off again.

8) The tower is offering all kinds of possibillities. Merely climbing up on a ladder would be a little too easy, after all...?

Those cranes were always the thing i most frequently checked if I was sniping in BF or PR mod. God help you if I spotted yah and you managed to hide yourself in the controller box, it'd be like in that movie Tremors, I'd wait forever for you to come back out.

this is ArmA... if you can´t do it, MAKE it possible...

remembering my old OFP scripting days, teleport scripts are amongts the simplest things to do... so it´s just a matter of narrowing down a target and creating an action to move you there

that action could become available only inside a trigger around the tower and above a certain height, causing you to need to climb it before you can teleport to the top

not as reallistic as a ladder, but gets the job done...

Probably the first place one would check for snipers. What makes that a good sniper spot?

1) You use an obvious spot/protrusion.

2) You're very easy to see.

3) You're siluetting yourself.

4) You're close to a wall in the open (M203 fodder).

5) You're always visible from some point.

6) You don't have an escape route.

Practically all the don'ts in the book :D
