Azamato 0 Posted November 3, 2009 I was fckin excited when I put arma 2 cd in my pc feeling all soldier shit :D But, the moment as I started the campaign mode.. i got dissapointed. The intro is great the one when the CDF soldiers die :p But as I started to play.. i always get flickering, things popping up, bugs, no-faces etc.. I thought meh i can live with it . My pc cant play the game on any settings above 25 fps The first mission was okay when it was dark but then I had to use the laser missiles. I destroyed everything nothin happened.. i had to retry and then it worked. Now I got to find lopotov or whats his name but my AI squad is retarted and don't want to enter the HMMV result : one of them dies and mission fails. The driving is awfull, there are no emotions on their faces, and when you steer you don't even move your hands.. I don't know where to go on my map, And when I do i have to make those long distances and don't even know why. btw system is Q8200 2.33 4gb 9600gt To be honest I'm sorry for buing this game, too bad because I'm a big fan, I liked the demo and had high expectations (sorry for mistakes) I rather have bought Assassins Creed, Mirrors Edge and MoH Airborne together for th same price range as ArmA 2. So, How can I be convinced of keep playing this game.. :( Also I dont have patch 1.04 do i need patch 1.03 - 1.02 to get it or can i just download it immediatly? Thx, and please help :(
polecat.uk 11 Posted November 3, 2009 Just download 1.04 and install it then start the campaign over.
santafee 10 Posted November 3, 2009 1. Yes, you just cant play that game without Patch 1.4 Download it. 2.The campaign is still bit bugged, but with 1.4 good playeble 3.Get into the Editor, start creating own scenarios, thats were the real fun starts;)
yanquis 10 Posted November 3, 2009 also, do NOT buy this game for the campaign (which is verrrry frustrating)...or for far cry 2 like FPS tricks. its a milsim, dont let the fact that its got such a great graphics engine deceive you into thinking its going to provide a mainstream kindve experience. its not CoD or that type of game at all. like any good simulator it basically gives you what you put into it. as for the performance issues, hopefully the patch will help (i would recommend the latest beta), but if not your system should be fine for arma 2. you may just need to do some quick and easy manual tweaks, there is a lot of advice in the troubleshooting forum. echo1 0 Posted November 3, 2009 I played the game with a 9600GT and a less powerful graphics card, and I had none of the described issues. Make sure it is patched up, and that you are using the latest video drivers.
.kju 3245 Posted November 3, 2009 1.04 + latest beta patch: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
cross 1 Posted November 3, 2009 As for performance do not use antialiasing AA. Keep it disabled. Cap your view distance to 1600.
no use for a name 0 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) like the others said, DL 1.04+latest beta; also make a profile in the nvidia CP for Arma2, and make sure that these settings are set to 'Application Controlled': Antialiasing - Gamma Correction Antialiasing - Mode Antialiasing - Transparency Anisotropic Filtering then adjust these: Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames = 0-8 (mess around with this to find what's best) Vertical Sync = Force Off edit: n/m, kju linked you to a guide that better explains it ;) these settings seem to work the best for most people Although the campaign is a little buggy and runs like a dog (for me anyways); there's a ton of user-made single missions/campaigns/mission packs, addons, and just about everything you could ask for. Check out www.armaholic.com or the Addons/Mods Complete section in this forum. Once you get used to the gameplay, don't be afraid of multiplayer...it's best to find a dedicated group of players that have organized, moderated play and I think you'll be hooked. And i have a quad core. Also the AI is annoying everytime they die and mission fails I wish i could just let them stay at a place to complete the missions alone but thats not an option lol :D Edited November 4, 2009 by Azamato

Azamato 0 Posted December 11, 2009 Hi, it's me.. again :p I decided to give ArmA2 another shot... prolly 27st chance im giving it. And I got a couple of questions bout the campaign (cause thats what i like to play) - Is there a way to disable your squad or something.. cause they always die for some reason by not taking cover (prone) and mission fails... and i get pissed off. - Again.. did I put the dificulty on realistic by accident or is the game based on this gaming style : You go to some point u get shot by someone and die, you load and kill him. You go to another place you get shot by someone u dont see again.. u load and kill him. cause thats not how i want to play the game. - Again I'm om the mission (dunno the name) Where u got to the CDF after a certain something took down a certain someone with me in it. when the certain marines got out of chernarus and left certain someone behind.. So I gotta take the town right? And I see like 11 CDF guys and they say "Yeah so go and take the town".. Are they gonna just stand there.. doing nothing.. cause that's what theyre doing... nothing.. :p - Also the 3 first missions of the campaign were good (exept the squad always dies..) But manhattan is so fricking boring.. nothing makes sense. Is the game gonna be like that all the time?.. - When I join an MP game i get this annoying intro... i respawn and get spawnkilled by someone i dont know. I dont know what to do, i dont see any teammates (or enemies..) I know I know I'm a hater :p but hey help me out :( Cause i really dont want to let go of arma 2. Grizzle 0 Posted December 12, 2009 Check out the user mission section and download Cipher. This mission won't end if one or more of your teammates dies, and if you die you have the option to 'team switch' and finish as a different member of your team. Whether or not a mission ends if one team member dies or whatever is dependent upon the mission designer. In the case of the Arma2 supplied campaign missions, you have to play them like they were built (ending when a team member dies) or learn how to edit missions and make/change them yourself. Unfortunately you're just looking for the ArmA experience in the wrong place. I haven't even looked at the campaign (and never will) and only did half of one single mission, there's vastly more fun to be had in the editor.

Yo If the AI is annoying you, tell them to move to a location at the beginning area of the mission and leave them there. When you get out of range for them they will ask "Where are you?". Just ignore them, turn down the radio volume if you want. So do the mission on your own. Try out user made missions as well on www.armaholic.com also try the COMBAT module in Single player scenarios. Random continuous missions to give you a feel for the dynamic nature of commanding the AI and playing the game.
Peonza 10 Posted December 12, 2009 I hate campaign, but IMO best thing about Arma 2 is editor , addons and multiplayer (coop expecialy)
