Nixo 10 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) Excellent! Thank you all for helping! :D And I have a model of the Crye armor, it does not fit my soldiers at the moment since i made it for an arma 1 soldier WITH the older armor already attached to the soldier, need to rework it a bit and retexture it Edited October 6, 2009 by Nixo
Nixo 10 Posted October 6, 2009 Some new WIP Images in Low quality, High quality ones will be uploaded tomorrow. (I have no time to upload the higher qualitys at the moment) Sorry once again for the bad quality. Don't know how to pack the images below 100kb without making the quality bad :(

usarmy19dsniper 0 Posted October 6, 2009 If you want to make these guys look realistic, you have to change some things. The pictures of the 75th ranger guys in full multicam is not realistic, it was a photo op to show off the new equipment, and what better way to show that equipment off then to have a bunch of high speed rangers in full kit. This is not how the rangers roll. I will start from top to bottom. Kevlar Helment ( MICH ) - Rangers don't use helmet covers, they are usually spray painted and have patches of velcro on them for IR patches or any other random stuff. They also don't have goggles on them all the time because of that fact that goggles always get hung up on things. The NVG mount is also different as it is in the shape of a triangle. Body armor/kit - Here is the back Here is the front These pictures are of Special Forces soldiers, but SF and Rangers do wear the same kit as far as the plate carriers are concerned. Pants/Belt - This is pretty much optional, some soldiers have thigh holsters, extra mag pouches, knee pads you name it. Boots are usually not bloused. I don't want to tell you how to make your addon, I just wanted to pass some info along and help you out to make a quality addon.
Nixo 10 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Thanks for all the tips and info about rangers! This addon is not about 100% realistic rangers. I like the Future Force Warrior program wich includes the Crye Precision things. But not over exadurate armor clothing etc but keeping it on a bit present day level. I have decided to: +Change the backpack +Remove some of the helmet covers and <TRY> to make some helmets without the cover. +Body armor will be mixed in Tan desert/dark greengray and multicamo, textures will also be improved (hopefully) +Scarfs will be added to some soldiers. +NVG Mount will be changed at some point. This will take some time. But hopefully after 3 weeks I still have the spark to continue on these! :) HQ images as promised. Well not so HQ but better anyway! And thanks to Clawhammer for the link to imgimg.de :) Edited October 7, 2009 by Nixo
Nixo 10 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Here is some WIP images of the mich helmet without helmet cover. Note that the ACR is not completed, and the texture is just a placeholder atm. And i saw a image how the IR should be attached, but i do not remember anymore. Can you please tell me how it is fastened to the helmet? Or is it ok as it is. OOOR should i just remove it. Edited October 7, 2009 by Nixo
usarmy19dsniper 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Flip the IR strobe the other way, basically that black part on the end is the IR lens for the strobe light, it faces up so when you turn it on aircraft can see it. But yeah, you pretty much nailed the helmet good job. Usually the strobes are attached with velcro, and also tied down to the helmet itself. The way you have it now is probably good enough. One thing I forgot to add is that they usually have Peltor hearing protectors. Completely up to you if you want to add them in.
Firehead 0 Posted October 8, 2009 Norotos NVG mount is too small, its supposed to be alot larger, it needs to be mountable with the standard rhino mount. His IR strobe is just modeled incorrectly, its not upside down. Its missing the IR shield on top. Also, the strobe is too small. Essentially you are correct, velcro on the underside of the strobe, with a thin strip attached to the velcro on the helmet, but not to cover the slider that turns the strobe on and off. Change the chinstrap, Army pax don't use the XHarness chinstraps like on the LWH. Look into the OpsCore chinstrap, or just use a regular chinstrap from the ACH/MICH. You should also look into adding the goggle retention straps on the back of the helmet(look at the soldier without the helmet cover, those little things on the left and right). The Wasatch looking vest they are wearing needs to go. Just like the pictures that were posted, you'll see more specialised units(Rangers, SF) wearing the Eagle CIRAS, or Plate Carriers. Nixo 10 Posted October 8, 2009 Once again thank you all for the help! :D The IR is just a placeholder atm as said before, and will be remodelled and textured. the vests will be modified a bit so that they look more like CIRAS vests. The chinstraps are untouched but i will start working on that today, and I will remake the vest. That is todays schedule. More WIP images soon :) And forgot to say that the NVG mount will be bigger :D
Nixo 10 Posted October 8, 2009 More WIPs for you :) (THE EQUIPMENT IS VERY THE SAME ON THE UNITS, THIS WILL BE CHANGED) As you can see i have TRIED!!! note TRIED! To make a Ciras vest. If I may say it myself I am pleased with the result. More and more problems pop up now that i changed the vest. Alot has to be remade in order to stay on the body and not bounce around flawlessly. There are still a few things to change on the helmet. And a few minor texture things on the gear. Now once again I would like you to look at the images and say what i could change and make better or even remove or add :)
usarmy19dsniper 0 Posted October 8, 2009 Excellent Nixo, this is definitely coming along nicely. Are you going to add the backpack aswell? It attaches straight to the vest.

Delta One Zero 10 Posted October 15, 2009 Excellent work with the Rangers. Though just wondering do you have any plans to add knee pads to any of the units in the future?
Black1ron 10 Posted October 15, 2009 Any chance these guys will get some love in OA? Because if so, then those little boxes (I know what they are, just calling them little boxes) on the back might actually amount to something. Other than eye candy, of course. Hvymtal 1251 Posted October 17, 2009 Sup? I noticed that you have a guy with an M8 Compact, any chance you'll be doing the actual carbine as well? I think the compact is... Small and the way BIS has it gripped doesn't look right to me.
