da12thMonkey 1943 Posted July 5, 2009 If ArmA 2 ever gets any form of hand-to-hand, it should be the bayonet. None of this knife crap you usually get in other shooters. I love using Bayonets in Red Orchestra and its mods: nowt better in that game than fixing bayonets on an SMLE and rushing a trench full of Nazis. I'd spaff my pants if I could do the same in ArmA 2. So far as real-life bayonetting goes: the sooner they make a bayonet attachment for the L128A1, the better if you ask me!
Binkowski 26 Posted July 5, 2009 I would like to charge the Chedaki when I run out of ammo in my M16A4. Good old Marines with their bayonet charging.

The ability to fix the bayonet, the ability to shoot while it is attached and perhaps a bashing ability when you don't have a bayonet. So far as real-life bayonetting goes: the sooner they make a bayonet attachment for the L128A1, the better if you ask me! Maybe UKF should attach one to their FV107? If you do, I want to be paid for my brilliance.

-R2.5-Hendrix 10 Posted July 5, 2009 Its not our fault that the rest of the world isnt man enough to go up and stick their sword in the enemies face... I mean, how else to fight through?
vshadow 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Been watching this some time, and yes, get some good old British steel on here! If the marines and US army don’t use them (though I think they do) this is even more of a clue to BI that maybe some British units made by them (probably in arma 3) would go down a treat with a lot of the community! sparks50 0 Posted July 6, 2009 I dunno, I cant remember one single situation from OFP-ARMA-ARMA2 where a bayonet would have been to my benefit.
stevevcb 3 Posted July 6, 2009 That's funny, I can't think of one single situation from OFP, ArmA or ArmA2 where a bayonet would have been to my detriment.
-R2.5-Hendrix 10 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) Well.... apart from the bug when you used to get stuck standing over the corpse! And how can you say its not beneficial, when youve never had the opportunity! nothing gets the blood boiling more than the spirit of the Bayonet!!! trickster1982 10 Posted July 6, 2009 As much as its a good idea i dont think it would work very well in Arma 2 as apart from enemies that have frozen due to bugs,im yet to get close enough to one to actually use a bayonet without getting shot!unless we get a patch that means they run out of ammo & resort to hand to hand... Prydain 1 Posted July 6, 2009 Thats because you are a noob. If you where anywhere near my level of awesomeness you will routinely get close enough without a bayonet, with one you will be more encouraged to just stab the fuckers. Now stop being a woman, if you don't want bayonets just because you play by yourself as an officer in control of a tank squadron then get out of the discussion. Baff1 0 Posted July 6, 2009 I get close enough quite often. Playing by myself too. In a Warfare game, I absolutely guarentee it. In an urban fight, it's about 50/50 for me. If you use FIBUA tactics, you will, if you just sidestep around the edge of the map with your sniper zoom full on, you won't.
Jimbo762.au 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Bayonets are maybe not the way to go. A option to butt strike or muzzle prob would be good. Also again not wanting to turn it into a 1337 Delta OMG !!1!!!1!!! thread ether but an ability like in the SOCOM games to kife an enemy silently would be nice too. So everything the bayonet can do but not the bayonet itself? Can people please at least try to use their loaf please?
flufball 10 Posted July 6, 2009 It always seems odd when people are reluctant to see new features in a theoretical discussion. Now, fair enough you have situations where new stuff like the usual one million M16 veriants sound nice but in reality aren't really worth the effort (although ACE still manages to do this), but things like Bayonets which are a fairly unique and singluar bit of kit for soldiers world wide and have been a part of warfare in some form or another from as early as the sixteenth centuary should surely merit at least consideration for what is, at the end of the day, a conversation. Yet there is this automatic assumption that it must be written off because "the engine won't handle it" or "there is no situation where it'd need to be use. It's something that always baffles me, but then I want to see the bayonet in game so I have a degree of bias. :)

da12thMonkey 1943 Posted July 6, 2009 The MoD uploaded a fresh batch of bayonet porn today to show us that blokes are getting stuck in with cold steel on op Panther's Claw: How could you not want this in ArmA? See how nails the simple act of sticking a blade on a gat makes these men look.

Prydain 1 Posted July 6, 2009 * holds out hand to prydain* *Holds bayonet out to trickster* - Now love it and stop going against it, bayonets are awesome and as I have said they are hugely practical. And I didn't mean to get into a tiff with you at all. (Don't worry about being a noob by the way, compared to my level of awesomeness mere mortals are always noobs). I like to think the guy in the first photo is screaming "YOU ARE SO AWESOME!" at his bayonet.Hehe, you should do a cartoon featuring bayonets ;)@Rhodite Aye, I'll keep it clean. Now all we need is more endorsements for the bayonet!
goose4291 11 Posted July 6, 2009 Quick question, and one that'll have obviously tried I know, but how much of the stuff from the PUKF's bayonet is portable over? And if it isn't is there a way to reverse engineer it?
