GIGENE 10 Posted June 29, 2009 I finaly got the demo downloaded )3 times) and installed. I must say it is pretty good.I know its just a demo, but I have a couple of questions. My PC plays it great and no issus. Will the full verstion be this stable ? Also will there be more multi player host than the demo has.Thanks...
Steakslim 1 Posted June 29, 2009 I've heard from someone who's tried both demo and full and said they found the full version more stable in performance. However for a lot of people there seems to be conflicting results. For some the game runs pretty smoothly at what ever optimal setting they choose, others have bad issues with framerate drops. I say if you can run the demo well enough, the full version should give you any problems.
GIGENE 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks for the reply.I plan on buying Tuesday. I played in multi player,is there anyway to custom your weapons or do you get what ever gun randomly.
Pirate Mayor 0 Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks for the reply.I plan on buying Tuesday.I played in multi player,is there anyway to custom your weapons or do you get what ever gun randomly. You usually just get whatever gun the mission has you start with, unless your playing warfare, then you can buy different guns. And don't forget, you can always scavenge for better weapons off corpses.
MadsHilde 10 Posted June 30, 2009 I just got the game through Steam today and I am quite pleased with the performance over the demo, but there shouldn't be any difference should there? I've only played a little Trial by Fire and a whole game of war welcome and the game ran pretty great with higher gfx settings than I played in the demo. I have no idea how the campaign runs but I'll try that in the weekend. Well, my post actually didn't have any kinda point, just wanted to share my happiness:)
Kristian 47 Posted June 30, 2009 Great to hear that you're happy with ArmA2, as I am aswell! :p
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 30, 2009 Uhh? I heard it was the other way around, which also seems easy to believe. I guess I might figure out for myself one day, if I'm lucky. 11 days and counting. I'm boring drinking myself to death here :p
MadsHilde 10 Posted June 30, 2009 Yep, I heard the other way around, too. But that is just not what I am experiencing. I can crank the 3d res up from 83% to 100% and viewdist. from 1400m to 2000m without a performance hit.
r71 0 Posted June 30, 2009 Yeah a guy I know said the full version ran a bit better on his system. Can we get some more people to confirm this?
kiptanoi 10 Posted June 30, 2009 I can confirm that my game also runs better then steam demo, I have now steams full game and no craches, and it runs better i think.
walker 0 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi all There is already an impressions thread http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=74926 Kind Regards walker
smokie 10 Posted June 30, 2009 I've found that the demo ran better. The single mission in the demo ran smooth but now I get short (1sec) pauses every minute or so. I've also noticed some pop up that I didn't get in the demo. I'll have to run an apples to apples test case.
victor1966 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Hello: Played the demo with no problems but my processor is NOT dual core just a Pent 4, 3 Ghz, 4 megs Ram and a ATI 4800 series GPU. Think I will be able to play the real thing or is the demo a good indication of performance?
Kristian 47 Posted July 6, 2009 Demo works just as good as the real thingy ;)
shataan 1 Posted July 6, 2009 I found the retail to run better for me actually.
victor1966 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Thanks! Does the "benchmark" mission tell you much about what to expect?
mr_centipede 31 Posted July 7, 2009 the demo tells you pretty much correctly about the performance in retail version, though in the campaign it can bog your CPU down....
Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 7, 2009 I found the retail to run better for me actually. Same for me
-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted July 7, 2009 you might be able to slideshow by;) , but I recommend getting a dual core if you can, Victor the minimum requirements say dual core for a reason. The ai can and do consume a lot of cpu resources, which is magnified by their number in the mission. Do you plan on playing missions with AI, like Domination, Evolution, Warfare/Superpowers? these missions will show the weakness of your CPU with degraded performance. How does the Benchmark mission run for you in the Demo? FPS? mine was 34 reference http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1333614#post1333614
Eclipse4349 0 Posted July 7, 2009 Demo for me is a little buggy. The Full version runs great. If you are happy with the demo, you should be good to go!
S7_Mega 10 Posted July 7, 2009 I found the retail to run better for me actually. Me too. Nothing earth shattering but it ran 5-10fps better.
Malleus 0 Posted July 7, 2009 Hello:Played the demo with no problems but my processor is NOT dual core just a Pent 4, 3 Ghz, 4 megs Ram and a ATI 4800 series GPU. Think I will be able to play the real thing or is the demo a good indication of performance? I think I have the same CPU - small scale missions are fine, bigger missions in the campaign are more problematic. I was able to play most of it with an average fps of 15-20, except for the very last mission which was like 10 fps. Also, not sure if our CPUs are exactly the same, but if they are, then yours too should have an ability called hyperthreading - enable it in the BIOS, it probably helps with the performance (though i haven't tried without it). DJ_9mm 10 Posted July 7, 2009 for me, the demo ran faster than the full version at first. i had to mess with the arma2.cfg file to get them to run the same. had to do with the video ram being detected differently. but now that the settings are identical, i get identical FPS in both. Azamato 0 Posted July 9, 2009 Hey I play the demo pretty good the first mission like when u invade the town by helicopter on a beach.. i get good fps with my low end rig. MP works good too most things on normal posp proc high and texture low. And i play it good. But will I be able to play the full game as good? Or is that like one of the less demanding levels, cause i really enjoy it. btw specs P4 3.0ghz 9600gt 2gb ram i cant believe i play this game xD
EDcase 87 Posted July 9, 2009 The full game will play exactly the same. That first mission is quite small so you might notice lower fps when playing a very big mission with lots of AI on the main map of Chernarus. But it shouldn't be very different. BTW I play on a Q6600 2.4ghz, GTX285, XP32 and it runs very well too. ;)
