Hmm...In forrests performance is ok (20-30 fps) but in towns or villages I have only 10-20 fps. I cant use patch 1.05 becouse I still have poblem witch flashing textures.

My comp spec.

Core2duo 1,86GHz

3GB DDR2 533Mhz

GeForce GTS 250 512 MB

and two disks 7200 with 32MB buffers

Windows 7 32bits.

Resolution 1680x1050 and everything switch to normal without postprocessing (off).

I dont think you can expect too much with that cpu...

i suggest trying to disable your v-sync in the nvidia control panel

dont know if this is mentioned in the 50+ pages but with the latest 1.05 patch I can remove the -winxp parameter and the game runs fine on 8GB of memory with no texture problems. Might want to update the original post (do test it out first though I may have just been lucky)

This is known to be true, it was the case in the last few beta patches before 1.05 was released.

Great isn't it. :)

i woudl like to say that while v-sync being off has reduced the frequncy of crashes, they are def. still there

If you go into Nvidia control panel/ view compatibility with games and check "show only installed games" and click ArmA 2, it will tell you to disable Postprocess Effects!!!! That is a must if you want to use any antialiasing and if you care anything about your FPS.

I am getting an average of 25 fps in game about avg 20 fps on Chernarus, in the middle of forests, or in heavy combat. First and foremost disable Postprocess effects! This is what really brings down fps and our graphic cards dont like it to much. Here are my settings, check them out and let me know how they work for you.

Meatball0311,

you should try using VSync - Force Off. Being that it will limit your FPS. I get much more FPS on a slower system at the same reso. Have you tried VSync Off before?

yes I tried it with Force Off and I had horizontal tearing. Anyway I did more tweaking and I can say that my average fps is 40. My rig is running great with my settings smooth and great quality and performance.... me happy :) I am telling you if you have a Nvidia card you must Postprocess Effects: Disabled

and Anisotropic Filtering: Disabledand you can crank your antialiasing!

Any nvidia-user got good results with the new 196.21 driver in Arma?

And by the way, any recommendation if older drivers work better for older cards (geforce 9600gt) in this game?

thanks in advance...

Hey guys, will my rig run this game with settings anywhere near decent?

Athlon FX-57 2.8 GHz (Single Core)

nVidia 9800 GTX+ Superclocked (512 MB RAM)

4 GB RAM (DDR2 I think)

CPU and GPU Coolers (but not overclocking either yet)

XP Pro 32 bit

Am I screwed, or will it be decent?

Thanks guys!

Rob

I went back to the 195.62 driver.. 196.21 has some major problems and I recommend going back to 195.62 until it gets fixed

I have had a very stable experience before this latest patch.

I downloaded it tonight and have begun to experience a flickering of textures that precedes a crash of my game.

I don't know whats causing this.

Intel Core i7 CPU

965 @ 3.20GHz

6GB RAM

64-bit OS

x2 gtx 280 Nivida (BFG Tech) driver 195.62

CUDA Cores: 240

Graphics clock: 665 MHz

Processor clock: 1428 MHz

Memory clock: 1200 MHz (2400 MHz data rate)

Memory interface: 512-bit

Total available graphics: 3835 MB

Dedicated video memory: 1024 MB

System video memory: 0 MB

Ambient Occulsion: Off

Antisotropic filtering: Application-controlled

Antialasing -Gamma correction: On

Antialasing - Mode: Application-controlled

Antialiasing - Transparency: Off

Maximum pre-rendered frame: 3

Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple display performance mode

Power management: Adaptive

SLI performance mode: NVIDIA recommended

Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample opti...: Off

Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow

Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: On

Threaded optimization: Auto

Vertical sync: Force off

Is something wrong here? What do I need to change? What have I overlooked?

To be honest that update I think is just filled with bugs (196.21). I am using 195.62 atm and it is doing fine. There is a few things that I know us Nvidia newer card owners need to have turned off in the control panel and in game options.

Nvidia Control Panel

-------------------

1. In "Adjust image settings with preview", make sure you have it set to "Use the advanced 3D image settings.

2. go to your "Manage 3D settings" and this is what I have for now and I am getting an average of 40 fps and no crazy images.

Ambient Occlusion: Not supported for this application

Anisotropic filtering: Application-controlled

Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On

Antialiasing - Mode: Enhance the application setting

Antialiasing - Setting: 2x

Antialiasing - Transparency: Supersampling

Maximum pre-rendered frames: 8

Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Single display performance mode

Power management mode: Use global setting (Adaptive)

Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization: Off

Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow

Texture filtering - Quality: Quality

Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: On

Threaded optimization: On

Triple buffering: On

Vertical sync: Force On

you have and should change:

Ambient Occulsion: Off

Antisotropic filtering: Application-controlled

Antialasing -Gamma correction: On

Antialasing - Mode: Application-controlled

Antialiasing - Transparency: Off change to Supersampling

Maximum pre-rendered frame: 3 change to 8

Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple display performance modedo you have multiple monitors? if not this needs to be Single display performance mode

Power management: Adaptive

SLI performance mode: NVIDIA recommendedare you using two GPU? i dont know about this

Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample opti...: Off

Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow

Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: On

Threaded optimization: Autoneeds to be on

Vertical sync: Force offthis needs to be force ON because this is where you get tearing

3. Now go to "Set PhysX configuration" and and click "Disabled"

4. Now go to your ArmA 2 Video Options and do this:

- set Video Memory to "Default"

- set "Anisotropic Filtering: Disabled"

- set "Postprocess Effects: Disabled"

the others you can tweak on your own, but I have this:

Quality Preference: High

Interface Resolution: 1920x1080

3D Resolution: 1920x1080

Texture Detail: High

Video Memory: Default

Anisotropic Filtering: Disabled

Antialiasing: Low

Terrain Detail: High

Object Detail: High

Shadow Detail: High

Postprocess Effects: Disabled

Interface Size: Small

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Wide

weird?? Let me ask you this, is the OC'ing still disabled? Because when I had it 196.21 installed, it had removed the ability to manipulate my settings.

Has anyone on Vista 64-bit had any luck with driver version greater than 186.18 ? (The last time I tried updating, when ArmA2 1.04 was released, the drivers caused massive problems and I had to reinstall 186.18)

nVidia control panel doesn't affect to frames at all.

Somebody prove me wrong (video with fraps running/benchmarks/in-gameFPScounter). Me or anyone of my friends haven't see ANY change. :D:D:D

Funny how people think that it will affect. Psychological affect maybe?

...

What can happen is that you get dipps every few seconds, from something that is polling the CP .... seen it. Close the CP frames are at 50fps steady, open it you can get 47fps~ back to 50fps, kinda annoying.

ArmA2 frames right now: 10-13FPS, no matter what settings. 400x300 window, all OFF. 1280x1024 full, all maxed.

I feel that might be true in your case, and that is based off what you have in your signature of your system specs. I cant really say at what level each settings may contribute. But I will guarantee Postprocess Effects and PhysX GPU acceleration settings do determine FPS in a big way.
