[frl]myke 14 Posted October 5, 2010 Anyone remember this? The base model is taken from http://www-roc.inria.fr/gamma/gamma/download/download.php As far as i understand it, the models are free to use for non-commercial purpose. Sadly there aren't any info about the original creator so i can't name him. What i do is reduce polycount (model has over 70'000) and then texture it and create a config. OFP had Warhammer, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Robocop and countless others, but ArmA II so far has nothing. Also congratulations to the guy doing the Star Trek shuttle, looking great! namman2 0 Posted October 5, 2010 @Myke : you reduced it by remodeling and only making the obvious stuff and use the hipoly model as refrence and then bake the details from hipoly to lowpoly model
soul_assassin 1750 Posted October 5, 2010 because there is always a chance that copyright holders will come and sue ur ass. Maybe its worth creating a SciFi branch from scratch. All you need: 1. A human faction with a name that is made up of a combination of letters U S C M and N and possibly O or A. 2. A few gun-looking things (just needs a barrel and a hadgrip, while the things in between can be just random shapes) 3. A bipedal oppsing faction with even weirder looking gun things. 4. A few flying objects (possibly looking like an aircraft but generally the wings can just point in any (and every) direction) (also I say object because you dont really need to justify how it flies with any regard to physics). 5. Maybe a bouncy 4x4 that flips upsidedown on every rock. Done.
wolfbite 8 Posted October 5, 2010 Holy crap that m88 looks amazing dude........ Any planned functions?
abs 2 Posted October 5, 2010 because there is always a chance that copyright holders will come and sue ur ass. The good thing about Star Trek is that they won't sue you as long as you're not making a profit from their franchise. In the debate of Star Wars vs. Star Trek, Star Trek wins every time in my eyes. ;) Abs PS: That M88 looks rad! I wish I could texture like that. Did you make it from scratch, or use photos for the tracks?
[frl]myke 14 Posted October 5, 2010 @namman2 baking? Do i look like a Bakerman? ;) Mate, i'm using O2, actually i can only guess what "baking" means. So you might get an idea what i can do and what not. :p @Abs it isn't Star Trek and obviously not Star Wars. Maybe ask the public or use the phone joker? ;)
abs 2 Posted October 5, 2010 Myke;1763376']@Absit isn't Star Trek and obviously not Star Wars. Maybe ask the public or use the phone joker? ;) lol...my comment was just generally speaking. I know Star Wars mods get in trouble, as did the Stargate mod from OFP (I think). Star Trek is just cool like that, in that they don't mind fan work. By the way, I have no clue what that is. :D ...and I used to consider myself a scifi buff. Abs
NoRailgunner 0 Posted October 5, 2010 [GLT]Myke is it the very old Eagle Transporter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Transporter ?
Dean.F 10 Posted October 5, 2010 I have also no idea what this vehicle is. From the style I would guess Babylon 5 or Moonbase Alpha.
[frl]myke 14 Posted October 5, 2010 [GLT]Myke is it the very old Eagle Transporter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Transporter ? ...and we have a winner. Name of the series (originally aired 1975 - 1977): Space 1999

abs 2 Posted October 5, 2010 Haha, if it somebody needs to create a moon map as well! If you decide to go that far, I have some blueprints for the weapons that they used on the show. :) Abs
[frl]myke 14 Posted October 5, 2010 If you decide to go that far, I have some blueprints for the weapons that they used on the show. :)Abs Naw, i make this more for sentimental reasons since i loved the series when i was a child. It is to get my head a bit away from the F-16 (which will be continued, just need a break from it).
NoRailgunner 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Could be nice to use somekind of working cargo features for small/medium/bigger stuff on those transporters. :) (Btw could be a great BIS easteregg if they made a spacestation "BIS HQ - no dragon, no cry!")

I will create textures the old style: draw them manually in GIMP. ;)
namman2 0 Posted October 5, 2010 no no not 3d max all you need to do is just export using o2 to .3ds format and xnormal will import it and bake all the textures

As you see i'm not a specialist. Will give it a try. Thanks mate, much appreciated. :EDITH: Tried it but the results are next to useless to me. Probably i'm doin it wrong. :( I'll keep with GIMP and draw all textures manually, there i know how it works. ;) Edited October 5, 2010 by [FRL]Myke
