But the processor Intel Dual core E8600 is good?

Thats one of the best dual cores around, you will be fine.

I'm sure BI Studio wouldn't appreciate this kind of alienation on their forum.

-1 sales for arma2... bye

Don't forget to write. :)

I am trying to see if RAM speed is a major bottleneck in Arma2. Unfortunately my mobo and ram aren't really up to the task of testing this.

Has anybody tried lowering clock speed on their ram and benching/playing Arma2?

Tell me please, that I should replace in this configuration , to improve performance Arma-2?

AMD X2 4400+ , GF9600GT 1gb , 4 gb DDR2

(Windows 7 x64 , 1024 x 768)

I want to buy AMD 9550 X4, it will help?

Or I need to change video cards? (eg. GeForce 250 GTS)

To buy two things, do not enough money :banghead:

Well, my CPU only bit more powerful than yours and i got a 4890 and only got a little bit better FPS, so, in my, uninformed, oppinion, try the CPU first.

The 9550 X4 is a pretty crap CPU, what sort of motherboard do you have? You might be able to upgrade to a Phenom II.

Anyone know how good I can run this game with an Nvidia 9400 GT

Not very well, the 9400GT is barely a step up from integrated graphics.

RAM speed, in my experience, never really seems to affect anything really... Any reason in particular that you think otherwise?

I will specifically choose a motherboard for the processor :)

By Price Around (~ $70)

I'm not overclocker )

CH, sorry you are completely wrong on ram speed, it's directly related to your FSB (front side bus) speed, therefore if your ram is fast it can handle higher FSB, my FSB is currently 445mhz, if i downclock fsb of my rig to the cpu rated fsb of 333mhz performance is way less.

True fast ram in itself is not fast unless it's running at a fast fsb.

When overclocking it's not entirely about increasing cpu clocks from say 2ghz to 3ghz, yes there is a performance increase but if you overclock & aim at increasing the FSB rather than cpu multiplyers you will see greater improvements in performance. Fast FSB = more bandwidth, more bandwidth = more performance!

Oh right, misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about overclocking the RAM without over clocking the CPU. But if you are doing both then yes, there is a difference.

I have 4 1gig sticks (2 kits).

2 gig of my ram is 333mhz and 2 gig is 400mhz.

Are you saying this is detrimental to how ARMA2 will run on my rig? It is DDRII SDRAM.

Im thinking I'll bite the bullet and upgrade the 6000+.

On topic of motherboards also, mine is a gigabyte MA770-US3... Ive only just grabbed it, is it an OK gaming mobo?

No it's not detrimental as your rig will usually default them both to whatever your rigs front side bus is at, can't help u with the mobo, google it & you'll find plenty, i upgraded from the A64X2 6400 dual core (overclocked to 3.4ghz) to the quad in my sig, the difference in performance is outstanding, you'll need another mobo though but all the other kit ram etc you have can still be used.

Hello Everyone

just to give a little guidance to AMD users who are thinking about upgrading their chip. I have a 2 year old (maybe older infact) 4600+ 2.40 Ghz x2 which runs Arma2 with Normal/High setting at 27-40 average frame rates ( apart from in certain camping missions) My other specs are; 4 gig DDR2 6400+ RAM and HD4870 512 MB.

Overall I'm VERY pleased with the performance I'm getting and hope this gives a good impression to anyone else who is thinking about buying a £1000 +system just to run one game. Sure, it's not future proof in the slightest as my mobo is only AM2, but its doing the trick nicely.

Hope this helps RainF

£500 is all you would need to spend to build the rig/box in my sig, it would cost you +£1000 if you bought in in a store.

No sorry, well maybe if it was coupled with a big quad core cpu but even then not very well.

What kind of settings will this handle (with a 30-40+ framerate)?

GTS 250 (1024mb)

6GB Corsair DDR3 (1333Mhz) memory

I do not have the game yet sir, but all of those cards, without exception, are pretty solidly obsolete.

Try this

Kinda put them in order there all those cards do not seem to be too far out of your price range, and you will see a major performance jump over what you have in your list.

9800gt ~ $90

8800gt ~ $85

geforce 9600 ~ $55

If you insist on sticking ot your list, the 4650 just due to the fact ati cards seem to like this game more than nivida ones.

One more thing, I see in your last post that you are currently running an AGP card, you do realize that to upgrade to a PCI-E would more than likely require an upgrade to your motherboard (and therefore your processor) as well right?

thanks for the advice im not currently using the apg card just wanted to know if it would work. Im actually running a mobile intel® 965 express chipset family and was quickly told i would need a new graphics card

Expensive founders of game, tell ArmA 2 supports technology SLI?

There will be a gain from SLI 285, than from one 285?

If to put one 285 about memory 2 Gb and one 285 about memory 1 Gb, how many game of ArmA 2 will see memories?

So it's a laptop? How are you going to put a graphics card into a laptop?

Leaving aside your original question, why do you need two GTX285s? Is one not enough? Do you have a 30" monitor or something?
