AC-130 Spectre in ArmA 2 ?

Recommended Posts

juste attach cargo a m1a1 or other tank on the 130 hercules , and you will have a spectre :yay:

Probably would be better off with a M119 Howitzer and a few Zu-23s. :)

And I really like your signature, gotta love the Peugeot 908. :D

i have tried this and it worked out fairly well besides the not keeping a steady aim part. im sure that since when you rotate a tank, the turret stays facing the same directions, you should be able to with the attached weapons but who knows....

we have the AC130 in arma 2 evolution with both pilot weapons (for AA and bombing) and sidefiring M119 / Zu23 / 7.62mm Minigun

check out our vid test supporting an assault on the tower

YduqZupPHOU

download the mission here- you need 300 points to fly it - cos otherwise noobs always crash it - it DOES NOT YET RESPAWN - i tried the simple respawn functions and it killed the server after it blew up...

this you can change in the

data\scripts\vecinit.sqf

case "C130J":

{

if (score _dunit < 300) then {[_dunit,_rank6] call BIS_EVO_RankReq;[_unit] call BIS_EVO_Eject};

if(_unit == player) then {wcam = _vec addaction ["Weapon Camera On", "actions\wepcam.sqf",0,1, false, true,"test2"]};

};

just edit the 300 to 0, repbo and play it

AC-130s are very supsceptible to ground fire. They do not like to come near an area that even smells of ADA. If a Shilka won't take it down then something is wrong with one or the other.

I am not saying they never come into a hot area. They did in Grenada at the Govenor's mansion and they did for us on several occasions in the mideast. But they are not invincible. MANPADs and ADA are a serious threat.

The issue is operational altitudes and AI detection. Due to sophisticated sighting systems, actual AC-130 detection of ground targets has a range quite beyond the range of standard AI. Some tweaking will have to be inacted so that the A/C can operate at it's nominal engagement altitude yet still offer realistic capabilities.

Currently in game the AC-130 has to fly far too low in order for AI to engage. And flying low means not only susceptibility but also ground relation causes difficulty in target acqusition by human gunners as the targets pass far too rapidly versus realistic operating altitudes where they (targets) can almost seem to stand still.

Indeed the AI is unlikely to be able to use the AC-130 properly, but with a good human pilot flying it would be a different matter.

It isn't so much the pilot but rather the detection range on the AI gunners is insufficient to match realistic operating altitudes for the in game AC-130.

Those AI gunners require detection ranges that are vastly increased so the AC-130 in game can fly at a sufficient distance from (laterally and vertically) the target.

in the video we were probably flying at 200m ATL to avoid attracting fighter interest and to be able to see movement vectors near smoked targets. any lower and neighbouring hills become an obstacle to smooth circling, and ground small arms fire and ZU23's become a real threat. the bullet drop on the zu23 is a pain - makes it very hard to target. the 105 is ok though as you can see in the movie.

also the gunner/pilot have to communicate as the zu23 can take the wing or tail off the plane if you bank too steeply....

but its the best we have for now

Roger that. Understand that I applaud what has been done. We just need to tweak the specific AI crewmen for automation.

Is BIS Osprey in helicopter class? That thing is basically a plane when it goes in high speed. Maybe you could make an AC130 using Osprey as a base? Of course it would hover in slow speeds but maybe there is a way to prevent the hovering capability with config or scripts.

To make an AC-130, there is alot to do:

  • Reskin
  • Edit of BIS C-130 model to implement guns and other features such as propellors of AC-130 (using scripts or a new model)
  • Creation of additional models for guns
  • Addition of gunner and observer position
  • Fixing all the bugs in the current BIS C-130
  • System that is implemented to fire the projectiles from the aircraft (scripts or actual vehicle weapons)
  • FLIR system for eyeball camera
    Plus many many more things which i will have forgotten to mention.

So overall a massive project for someone to take up.... :butbut:

@snaiperskaya

There is no need to dig up an old, inactive thread with a post like yours, you have nothing constructive to add to the topic as it seems.

Since you are new I will quote this forum rule for you:

§10) Do not dig up old threads

Threads older than 4 months should not be dug up unless something significant is being added. If in doubt as to what is "significant", contact a moderator and they will give you their opinion. As always old threads will remain open or be closed at the moderator's discretion. Digging up an old thread simply to ask "any news" is also not acceptable, PM the thread starter or mod leader to ask.

And read all the forum rules here:
