BW crew from 1985

They're very good but I do rather doubt that any tank crew

of those days would be wearing those one-piece tank-suits

in wartime (I'm assuming your "Project 85" is meant to

represent the forces on a war footing). An ordinary combat

jacket and trousers is much more likely.

Tank-suits are great for peacetime training and in barracks

but they are not suitable for use in the field in wartime since

they are not convenient to wear under an NBC suit. With

a one-piece tank-suit on under the NBC suit the wearer

would need to take the NBC jacket (and any equipment worn -

eg. a belt, pistol case and NBC DKP kit) off completely just

to take their trousers down (when performing toilet

functions).

In the British army (and I'd guess this goes for other armies

too) tank crews would wear tank-suits (or whatever they

liked) in peacetime but it was understood that if war had

come then they'd be wearing ordinary DPM combat dress

(which when worn in and around tanks would get dirty and

ripped very quickly).

Combat dress is warmer anyway (dunno if the Leopard had

crew heaters, but the Chieftain certainly didn't - not much

fun when it's 0300hrs, you're buttoned up in the vehicle and

the condensation is running down the turret walls) and better

for those tactical tasks that troop members would have had

to carry out - eg going out on foot to recce for tank hide

areas.

Thanks

Really it is something worth thinking about in terms of realism.

We simply followed the available reference material...

also in our armies only difference between tank crew uniform and infantry uniform is colour and type of pockets

and in KLMK suit there is a "toilet needs pocket" so i thought that germans had the same ;]

but we should not care as such, cause we have many pictures from our friend from America, who was in 1988 in US Army on West German territory and he worn one piece suit

can't tell about Germans during war, but...

even Polish crew during real war would wear tactical vests but normally crew has black uniforms

so i don't know - in my opinion it would be shame to throw away new model of crewman ;]

Nice old BW "animals" hope to see & hear them on Schmalfelden (with typical engine sound) !  smile_o.gif

Is this light above the main cannon functional?

What about NVA vehicles thought there were some different to soviet army? At least some typical east german IFA W50 trucks, Trabants, Wartburgs and Barkas B 1000 would be nice.

NoRailgunner ->

our internal forums are filled with pics of those you mentioned.. We surely do consider adding them, yet this shall be a story for a patch or two.. Highly doubt that initial release will include them

I know a person or two who would kill for a IFA in ArmA... and i would also love to see it.

@Shadow

Every year there is an Easternvehicle meeting @ finowfurt (east germany, brandenburg) As I know there are some old NVA and eastgermany vehicles. Maybe you find there some nice sounds. You also can drive with them.

http://www.luftfahrtmuseum-finowfurt.de/veranst1.htm

btw. Wüstenfuchs from mapfact was there.

Don't know, but you can contact him maybe he has some nice vids with sounds for you?

Edit:

I found it now:

http://www.mapfact.net/include....a5945b5

It was "Wüstenfuchs" and not Finowfurt it was in Puetnitz/Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/Germany.

Good news! Would be awesome if you could implement those typical engine sounds too, dont forget that "Schock"-feature in 601 biggrin_o.gif

I know a guy who owns a Ural and has acess to many vehicles like the IFAs so from that side no probs.

However someone must model it and i dont think we have the ressources for that currently.

Certainly there are some IFAs made for GTA San Andreas...

Maybe the models would be adaptable...

IFA 6x6

IFA W-50

Early attempts to convert some Eastern European / Polish civilian cars from GTA Vice City, and Mafia to be used in P85 has proven to be a difficult task though...  crazy_o.gif

Yet, if somebody has the skills and could help? Among many permissions I have been given a Yes for converting all cars from Mafia's IKARUS MOD

Another question: Will vehicles like the PT-76, 2S1 Gvosdika, BTR-70, T-55, T-72, BRDM, ... only get soviet markings or will there be versions for the NVA and LWP too? Wouldn't be so hard to make, would it? smile_o.gif

Pt-76 is only Polish

T-55 will be polish and east-german only, no soviet versions at all

T-72 we'll see... we're currently debating the future of this tank within internal boards

Brdm - not certain, but shall be a 5min job if we decide to

Thanks for the quick response, but why will there be only a polish version of the PT-76 since it's been in use in the NVA too? Or maybe a version without any markings would be a possiblity.

Anyway it's your decision, great work so far!

Nice T72!

I remember reading in a soviet order of battle that Category C russian units were equipped with T-55's (front line had T-80/T-64). And T-72's were mostly for export?

So not sure if it would be worth it, but perhaps T-55 could show up in soviet colors for Category C units?

Not sure if that was accurate, but that was what i remember seeing...

we already have too big variety and too much units ;]

Soviets would have T62, T64 (few variants), T72Era, T80 (few variants), BMP1P, BMP2, BMP2D, BTR70

Poles, East Germans T55, T55modernised, T72 older and newer

BMP1, BRDM2

so we already have a lot of stuff for them smile_o.gif

Wow, nice to see the work in progress at the last time.

Looking forward to nice stuff. Thanks for keeping the topic utd.

Did you prepare the mod for ArmA2 and the possibilities there?
