nephilim 0 Posted March 16, 2009 well such look wouldnt just be reece however, if you want pics of decent bergen, that is also used by the brit sf (afaik) let me know. i have a berghaus atlas at home looks like this : http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/products/atlas_250.jpg brits would just take of its side pouches and replace them with DPM sidepouches as they´re larger. like this : http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/2350/aavulcan2qq.jpg
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 16, 2009 It was all so much simpler when S.A.S. looked like this. Denims, WW2 windproofs, SLRs, bush hats and belt kit to taste. Sorted. Â
GD Mast 0 Posted March 16, 2009 Seems to be a big push for SAS, which is a good thing. Â Can't forget SBS too. Â Anybody remember the combat footage of the SAS in Astan, SAS weren't too happy to see the news media there. Â One SAS dude looked like he was about to pwnd the cameraman. Prydain 1 Posted March 16, 2009 What are those items, instruments or equipment mounted on their helmets? God I feel like one of those dirty armchair generals on milpics asking about the SAS but to me it looks rather like their is a fetish for everything PEQ-2 and ECOS-N. Quote[/b] ]there are people who know...Like people in the SAS, SBS or SRR? Do those people, who are probably hard pressed for time at the moment, waste their time in this forum like you or me? Maybe they waste it divulging to a person named after fictional beings from the most famous fairytale book on sale today or a person with a moniker that is little more than a Welsh word? STALKERGB 6 Posted March 16, 2009 @nephilim, cheers, yeah i will probably add bergens at some point. In the pic i posted of the Task Force Black guys are the weapons they have the CQB versions of the L119A1? @Col. Faulkner, nice pic, should have made them lol
nephilim 0 Posted March 16, 2009 yes they are. @Prydain pvs21 nvg´s well, i dont know any of THEM personally, but a guy who works with THEM and handles their weapons. youd be suprised, but theres also people from the military who play ofp/arma around here, also some of the sneaky type
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted March 16, 2009 Landside Op´s are rather undertaken in a very old fashioned manner, means, DPM combats (smock, trousers),  no helmet, and an assault vest but no RAV. land ops would look like this :http://www.konstipation.com/stuff/walt/sas/iraq/sasi24.jpg Half of them are wearing body armour, and they're (almost) all carrying helmets. I'd bet they'd put them on pretty sharpish too when the rounds start coming in. The bloke on the far left of this pic is also wearing body armour: http://www.konstipation.com/stuff/walt/sas/afghan/uksasa.jpg and I wouldn't be surprised if most of the other blokes have body armour on under their jackets. It was fairly common practise with ECBA before the bulkier Osprey vests started being issued. Actually, they appear to be wearing the old issue ECBA in the pics. Given that, I'd say the photos are quite old. I'm sure they've found better (or at least ally-er looking) plate carriers for long duration ops since then, if not the RAVs they're issued in Iraq. SFSG certainly have. Anyways, good effort on these Stalker mate. They work well as generic UKSF in my opinion. Glad you didn't get hung up on making them a specific unit or end up sticking wings and shite all over them, like many do.
toadball 35 Posted March 16, 2009 Out of curiosity, are you aiming these units to be for desert climates over temperate climates? Have a personal prefferance to temperate climates so would love to see a bit more OD and woodland DPM or alternatively a set of the units setup purely for temperate climate. Have loved using these, very nice looking units (I've not played around with the weapons yet) Looking forward to seeing more soon (Read as: whenever you feel like releasing them ) PS: Quote[/b] ]Glad you didn't get hung up on making them a specific unit or end up sticking wings and shite all over them, like many do. So true.
STALKERGB 6 Posted March 16, 2009 @toadball, Well these units are more aimed at temperate climates, the desert BDU's have been added because alot of the refernce pictures i used were of SAS in Iraq wearing the Woodland DPM/ Desert BDU mix. They also add a bit of variety to everything. If i get the time i am going to make some purely for desert conditions, this will probably mean i change these guys to more OD and woodland DPM. Might also make some counter-terrorist guys but we will see. @da12thMonkey, cheers for comments.
toadball 35 Posted March 16, 2009 Ah, I should have read the thread a bit more closely I guess lol. The reference pics you showed just looked a bit odd to me and suggested it more aimed at desert climates, it's still very nice work regardless of the silly niggles I have with desert DPM
Stewy 1 Posted March 17, 2009 Stalker, the addon is GREAT - I love it. Would you please consider Sir animating the link on the Minimi? The gun looks great, soreley needed for ArmA and I use it all the time, just that pesky link takes a little away from an otherwise perfect gun! Cheers Stalks - I know you've got bigger jobs on and zerio time - just thought I'd ask humbly Cheers Stew
modemmaik 53 Posted March 17, 2009 Those units are realy nice  But I have just tested those on my 2'nd rig (has a radeon) and received a CTD: cannot create memory surface ... 304x184... It seems that non ^2 textures are included in this addon. Can you change those 304x184 textures to 512x256. This will fix it. Thanks, mike

PSYCHOSIM 0 Posted March 18, 2009 Stalker, after trying these units out, i'd suggest removing the silencer from the holstered pistol of the SF squad leader, apart from that, really enjoying these units...............
STALKERGB 6 Posted March 19, 2009 @PSYCHOSIM, yeah been having second thoughts about that too, will probably remove it for the second release or might give them SIG P226s instead (or is it P229?). Glad you are enjoying them
